Government not stopping this?

United States

I was reading about the Heating oil and how though we have a higher reserve now then ever in the last few years. Yet the prices are increasing and the oil companies are slated to go up like 33%. Why does our government not try to control the obvious raping of the American people? What do you think?

Part of the increase in the price of oil is due to the decrease in the value of the dollar. Due to the huge national debt, the dollar is worth less eadh day. It takes more dollars to buy a barrel of oil that is at the same price it was last year.

Yes. If our government stopped throwing cash to the wind perhaps this wouldn't be so bad right now.

We have to keep our Saudi friends happy, don't we? (that's sarcasm, just in case you didn't notice)

Not bad just that I have read enough of your posts to pick up your sarcasm, which I enjoy by the way as I also share many of your thoughts.

I think the government is the ones holding us down while we're getting raped. I'd almost bet there's some kickbacks going on because they are sure not doing anything to help the American people.

Ok first here is a link to one of the articles I read. http://www.dailyfinance.com/2009/10/15/sticker-shock-at-the-thermostat-why-heating-oil-prices-are-goin/ for anyone who wants to go read it. second they are for sure getting kick backs and what not. Look at how they twisted the media. The oil prices are set to raise, the federal cap is coming off the utilities in January and those (according to the letter from my electric company) are slated to go up 40-60% (our area anyway) and does the media talk about this at all. No. we hear about what clothes his wife wore and what some kid asked him. AHHHHHHHHH, it makes me crazy that so few care! Not that you don't sorry to rant. It makes me so annoyed.

They'd rather keep up the Obama love fest and the global warming lies. Oh my god, we have to save the polar bear. The poor things are stuck on the ice!!! Well, duh they're polar bears! I know you didn't mean it personally.

What I think, since you asked (), is that we should fire darn near everybody in D.C., regardless of party. We ought to write in, in slots so reserved (if we can't stand any of the candidates) "NONE OF THE ABOVE." I'm getting my mind prepared to do just that. I've never "thrown away my vote" that way, but look where we are! It's time for some extremely different action (the "normal way surely isn't doing the job!)--something that WILL get their freaking attention! Can you imagine if the candidates only got a few thousand votes? At the very least, they couldn't brag they had "the people's mandate!" It would be worth it, whatever happens, just to hear them try to explain themselves the day after we voted! Maggiepie OBAMA'S PRESIDENCY IS ILLEGAL. PERIOD.

I have to agree with debra. If we used our reserves in order to bring the price down, they would raise theirs in return and replenishing our reserves would cost more. So we sit on them like big, fat hens. I agree with the kickbacks, too. The entire industry is rife with corruption and we're the ones getting screwed.
