Do you feel contented with writing just to earn money or you are writing to earn your niche in this very exciting and illustrious profession.Do you call this seo type of article writing, writing in its strict sense! How about article rewriting. This I beleive is robbing away one's work. You just rep-hrase, re-arrange paragraphs and use synonyms to change some words.. and then presto.. you have an article..I think this is unfair for the original writer.. I guess there should be some sort of control here and the original writer should be given royalty for the rewriten article.
And what about the pay for rewriting articles it is very minimal.. I guess there should also be a standard set for this.

Hi Sammy, from your discussion, I can see that you do not know what is seo and the different types of rights available for a writer.
If I write an article about unemployment, and I use unemployment many times in the articles, the search engines will count the words and know that this article is about unemployment.
When someone uses search engine to look for unemployment, the search engines will display the results for him. If my article comes out in the search result, then I will know that I have use the seo techniques correctly.
If I have used unemployment a few times, and using words such as jobless, out of work, not in full time job, then the search engines will be confused, and do not know which is the important keywords.
As for rewriting articles, these are the PLR articles (Private Label Rights) articles, allow the buyer to rewrite and claim authorship.
The original writers either sell away the full rights to a PLR webmaster, or sell the articles away directly as PLR articles. If the original writer sells away the rights to the article, he will be paid by the PLR webmaster, probably $10 to $50 per article. The PLR webmaster will sell to probably 300 buyers, and charge $1 per article.
That’s why the buyers of the PLR articles can hire rewriters to rewrite the articles, to make it sort of unique.
It is wrong to rewrite articles that the buyers do not have rights.
Actually rewriting happens in the newspapers as well. The newspaper reports rewrite articles from Associated Press, Reuters, Bloomberg and newspapers from other countries. They always attribute the sources, and probably have some monetary exchanges between the news agencies.
Rewriting is nothing wrong, just that it is wrong to rewrite articles that the original writers hold the exclusive rights.

I don't really write for money except for mylot. I do my own personal writing and it's more like song writing or writing poems. I don't really care if I earn any money from my own personal writings because I do them for my own personal gain and just to get thoughts and ideas out of my head that I think should be written down.

Right now I am focused on earning as much as possible. In the future it might change. I only write about what I know so I cannot be accused of taking other peoples hard work. I would hate for it to happen to me.

I myself can not make myself rewrite something that someone else has already taken the time to write in the first place. That to me is not writing at all. It is more like I am editing the work of someone else and therefore that other person should still get credit for what they've put their time and effort into.
I am able to write original articles, but that is far from the kind of writing that I enjoy doing. I am much more of a fictionist and that is where my niche really belongs. Yes, being able to write decently does help me to make a little bit of money, but I'd rather be able to see my name on a Best Seller list someday.

Hi Sammy,
Every writer should take pride in his/her work. I definitely want to earn money writing article but not at the cost of stealing others articles. I think there is no set standard when it comes to prices for original articles or re-writes. I've seen many writers who do the same work I do for a lesser price. It definitely hurts me. One has to be competitive when it comes to pricing but writing for a much cheaper rates is unacceptable.

For me, I prefer a narrative style of writing. I can spend more time on a site with lots of great narrative stories and whatnot than a very well formed, adhering strictly to a format or some sort. Well, there can be such articles, but if a site is filled with 'robotic' articles, I don't think I would bookmark it. But if the site has lots of awesome and great personal touch stories, and interesting/engaging, I would come back a lot of times, even if the site isn't crawled on search engines.

As a writer I feel it is wrong. I certainly wouldn't want someone changing the words in something that I worked on and slaved over. Writing is personal and that piece belongs strictly to its creator.

I write from my heart and everything I put to paper is the result of a lot of work and I don’t think it is fair for others to copy or re-arrange my work! The problem I have in regards to making decent money from writing is that I like to write what is inside me and I find it really difficult to produce a piece about a subject that I have little interest in. In other words I don’t like being told what to write about!
Writing is my passion and I would love to attempt a book one day...

In the short time I was active on oDesk.com, a couple of clients encouraged re-writes directly from Ezinearticles.com. The last time I checked, Ezinearticles does not pay upfront or by page views but I found one article to be really wrong as far as facts were concerned.
I do re-word some of my own articles to submit to new markets. The only company that wasn't having that was InfoBarrel but eHow, AC and even TextBroker have allowed me to make extra $.
These days I do find myself writing more informative articles and keyword density is priority. I hate when I get assignments that want almost every 10th word (or 10%)to be a keyword, it can sound pretty unnatural. The upside is when the keyword is about 4-6 words total but the max. word count is 350, you can finish your draft and proofing in about an hour or less.

I like to write anything from short articles to poems and sayings. But i recently joined a paying site as a writer which is shvoong.com and since I have enjoyed writing and want to join more writing sites. I will join brighthub.com in a few days. I have a degree in English so I don't find any difficulty in writing articles, I don't have to re-phrase, re-arrange etc. But I do make someone read and correct what I have written.....Hope you can become a good writer. Goodluck.

Hi, Sammy!
I write because I love to write and if I can make money out of my passion, then it is a bonus and I will feel highly appreciated as my articles have values as well as they have reached at some levels. It also means I write just for pastime or turn my passion into a profession be it full time or part time.
I agree with you that rewriting or reconstruct an article in some point means 'borrowing' somebody else's original ideas especially when the person who rewrites the said article gets the credit instead of the original writer.
However, I also think that rewriting articles means that some works clearly needs to be revised or added more new ideas from generations to generations or simply to alter the way the articles are conveyed to the readers for an easier grasp.
Hence, there should not be taken lightly and the pay should also meet up to the writers' contributions and writing skills as well.

I am a jack of all writings I guess. I enjoy all types if writing. From one line phrases to short stories. I guess if you write an article by dissecting someone else's work and rephrasing it would not be very good, but if you are writing an article pertaining to an experience or knowledge that you personally have, its not at all like that. I would essentially like to write a few books and publish them. I am working on three right now along with blogging, responding here on mylot and writing articles, that are based on my knowledges not using other peoples stuff as puzzles.

There is a lot of theft (or some might call it "borrowing") of ideas and writing on the Internet. That is the danger of posting one's writing online. I don't enjoy re-writing my own articles, so I surely wouldn't want to re-write someone else's. I understand that times are tough financially and people are trying to make money any way they can, but I also think that true writers need to have integrity.
With so many people and so much writing out there, it's hard to maintain control of it, to be assured that someone won't come along and steal your work. I already experienced one incident, and it wasn't fun. Basically, it feels like someone stole your identity.

Do you want me to be honest?
I'm writing mostly to earn money, but partly because I enjoy it. I'm just glad that I enjoy writing because at least it wouldn't be a burden for me to earn money. I pity people who do not like what they do but can't quit because they need the earnings badly.

I love to write. I enjoy writing to earn money because I can do what I enjoy and make money too! I also enjoy creative writing, poetry and short stories. I like them the best.
I have never heard of article re-writing - what is this? It seems strange to me that anyone would request this type of work, unless it was proofreading or transcribing. If so, however, I agree with you. It should have itls own parameters and its own pay scale, depending on what is needed. I guess a royalty for the original writer would depend. If someone paid for an article and paid for it, then needed it re-written, he shouldn't have to pay the original writer again. However if he goes and finds an article, then pays for a re-write to make it usable for his purpose, then the original writer should have copyright protection.

I don't so much write to make money, as to just use my writing skills as a creative outlet. The main site I do write on, is just for fun. The money is just a little extra perk.
I haven't worked for more than a year, and the longer it goes, the more it looks like I'll never find a job again, so I started trying to find ways to write on-line and earn a little extra money. On top of Squidoo.com, I have just started using Helium.com, and Mylot.
Mostly, I just write because I enjoy it. If I make a little extra money on the side, that's fine too.
