Why do we need to study history subject?

Really I have liked your questions, and also this question
has to be answered by the Educational Minister at the respective
state. Anyway according to my knowledge we need to study the history subjects
in order to know more about the particular country or Government, or about
the whole world. Because as a human beings we should know the all the
things about the world and would know the basic concept of the world war
and the world continent in order to have the good idea about the world.
So knowing about the history of the particular country would always gives
more benefits to know more about the nature of that country. So better to
know about the world and thus was the reasons we would encouraged to study
the History in order to have the good knowledge in general.

Knowing history is important & it's like knowing what your parents or your family was. Why do we have to know what our parents was or what's our families history?
It's just because everyone has their own interests. some people don't like history, but some love it. When you start liking things, every thing is good.
Once I was so amazed by the history of India. Do you know how which is the most most costliest building? it's Tajmahal!, Do you know the richest country in the world? it's India. You might ask me what is so special about that? well, it purely depends on a persons Interest.
History will make us aware about our existence & tells us what we are & where we come from. Hence make us a better individual.

Once, I hate the subject, really hate it. I don't see the benefits of studying it. But as I grow older, i felt that history very important. Through history you could understand you and your society very well, and then it helps you to make a certain decision about something. History has shape the world we live in, so why not knowing it? It can helps us to create a better future and avoid the mistake that lead to many bad things in todays world.

Yes we need, because we can study our life from history, just like war, tragedy, even dead. With history we will know what happen to the past, and why become this and this. I think history subject is need to be learn, cause without history never be a future it's same with past is the to get future, I don't know it's good future or not.

History is part of our culture of what we are.
We can't certainly arrive in the present with out our
past. We must study it because it's important bridge to
our future.

The reason we need to study history is because we cannot understand ourselves, our cultures/societies without knowing what it came from. History is studied because people want to know WHY countries are the way they are, and the best way to find that out is to look into that regions past. Ancient wars have far more influence on your life than you could ever imagine.

Hi ruiz... yes.. I felt just like YOU when I was younger and still in school. 9 different subjects that I must pass successfully each year and this was the hardest because I thought exactly like you do! So I do understand what you say.

NOW! I am grateful that I had to learn these things that I found so hard.. the dates and who was involved and why.. usch!! I had real trouble. I was MUCH more interested in learning languages and math and sports and such! NOT history and geography!!
I DID learn alot and even if the dates aren’t in my mind anymore, I understand the world better and how we are similar and different.. why our cultures are as they are,, how others live and what they believe in and why we should also be on guard to NOT make enemies and start another war, because of the terrible devastation in the past, and with our sophistication today, we could destroy the planet..

We are just people, you and I, but thanks to history education, I DO know more about you and YOUR history than I would read in a travel brochure. I have respect for people I have never met, because i DID learn much.. perhaps not enough, but enough to know that I am no more important than anyone else on this planet.

Maybe that was a good lesson. I try to understand and accept and respect and NOT make trouble.. do you think this might be a good result then of all that studying that seems such a bother??

We study History so we do not make the same mistakes as were made in the past. That is the real reason. When one forgets History, it is often doomed to repeat itself. This completely frees us to make brand new mistakes in society and in life. So that we can look forward without making the same mistake twice.

I like your question, it should be answered by some educational minister or something. History is a subject which talks about boring past. It is no use because everything it talks about is old and outdated. It should be taken out of the system and should be replaced with something new like nanotechnology, the newest and most popular branch of science which has its role in shaping the future of our world. history is for losers. People study about Hitler, But Hitler is dead, he will not come out of the dead to kill us, will he?Mao Zedong will not rise from the Dead and make China a democracy will he? Bush wouldn't come back to president post and return Iraq's oil will he? The twin towers wont reconstruct itself and come back to life will it. So studying history is a waste of time and money. Nothing of the above will change if we study history, nothing can change the past, we should throw away the past and look into the future, we see these history teachers blaming other countries in the 1980 for burning fossil fuels and destroying the ozone layer, which is no use, instead they can teach us about how to reconstruct or at least slow doen, global warming. So history is a waste of time and money

I hate history subject and I don't find it interesting on my field but we need some knowledge of our history for us to understand what happened to our heroes before.But I consider that we must only cater a history subject once in our school year to remember those historical dates and people involve.
