Obama tries to BAN Fox News from White House media pool. EPIC FAIL! |
|
Welcome to Obama's new world order. Now he's trying to ban Fox News from being part of the White House pool, the five networks that share the cost and duties presidential coverage. How did that work out? Fail! The other networks got together, discussed it, and gave Obama a resounding he1l no. Now, I can laugh about this all day, but I want to know what other people think of this. Not just what Obama tried to do, but the rejection by the media that adores him.
Personally, I think the other networks determined that if they allowed it, it might not end with Fox News. Maybe ABC would do an unflattering story on the president and subsequently be the next network banned and so on. Opinions?

1. Rollo1 (1562) | 1 month ago | I think it's the most refreshingly hopeful thing we have seen to date. I truly hope that the other networks were outraged by the stifling of one of their organizations. I hope they have begun to realize that they are not immune from this kind of heavy-handed tactic. I hope they are standing up for freedom of the press.
Someday it won't be just Fox News, it will be any dissenting voice unless someone stands up and resists. Kudos to them for realizing the dangers.

2. coolcoder (1445) | 1 month ago | You've got a good point there. If Comrade Obama can ban Fox for even the tiniest little criticism of the way he does things, he could ban the other networks for the same reason. I'm glad his effort failed, but I'm almost certain that Comrade Obama's going to try to pull the same stunt, only by using a different, more subtle method. That's just the type of man he is.

4. wlee9696 (350) | 1 month ago | It's just more of the retaliatory mind set. If anyone dares to have an opinion that opposes his the retaliation is swift and painful, at least that is what he tries. It's so ridiculous that a President of the US gets into these issues. Doesn't he have a clue what he should be doing? Well I guess the answer to that is obvious. The man is going to be the downfall of the US. He is a disgrace to the office of President.

5. bobmnu (2640) | 1 month ago | I think it cause them to remember their fellow journlist who were asked to leave his plane during the campaign for not reporting the news in a favorable manner for, then, Senator Obama. If he did it to them and got away with it with Fox News then what is stopping the White House from doing the same thing to them.

6. jerzgirl (2703) | 1 month ago | I read about this and totally agree that it was something that never should have been attempted by any administration. I fully support a free press, even when I vehemently disagree with their style and opinion. This was just wrong and I'm glad the other networks stood up for what they also knew was wrong.

7. whiteheather39 (13251) | 1 month ago | Taskr36 your discussion has made my day. Is there perhaps hope for us that the media is finally realizing that their one-sided adoration style of reporting(???) the news (???) about Obama is nauseating. It is so obvious that surely even they must realized no-one is as perfect as they portray Obama!

whiteheather39 (13251) | 1 month ago | I just read an article which IMO says it all "The government overstepped its bounds in its ban of Fox News from the press pool. Nothing excuses such heinous behavior from the White House. The founding fathers granted citizens the right to free speech as the first right in the Bill of Rights. This fundamental right serves as a safety against a government controlled press, enabling citizens and media alike to speak against the government without fear of punishment. When this safety is threatened, American media and citizens are obliged to fight back." http://www.examiner.com/x-27580-St-Louis-Conservative-Examiner~y2009m10d23-Fox-News-ban-backfires-as-media-rally-around-network

As a British person I sometimes put on FOX news in the background. The sheer comic factor is brilliant. All T.V news coverage in the UK has to be politically neutral, so it brings a smile to my face watching FOX ripping in to some Democrat with an unbelievable amount of bias.
I cant quite believe Obama would try and ruin my fun:(. Shame on you Obama:P
