There are many reasons for a body driving a car .to save time or to display luxuryand or may be lazy.hehe.i think may be Bella wants to save time.in our university,10 minutes walk distance worthy driving a car to somebody becase of one of above three reasons.

I think it is a cultural thing. Here in America if school was less than s mile away ,the kids had to walk. But if school was more than a mile away, then you were either bused or your parents drive you to school. Why?Because in most cities,it isn't safe for kids to walk to school and we love our cars here.

2 mile is equal 3.2 kilometers, 6.4 km to walk per day...
I love walking, but 6.4km (4 miles) per day is way to much. On average, women walk at 3 miles per hour....walking for pleasure and walking to and from school or work is total difference.
I think that 1 mile distance (1.6 km) is great for walking.
I would add the safety issue and weather condition as well...and making it on time...
I do walk more then 3 miles per day, but when I walk my dogs I don't have to be anywhere on time...it makes a big difference...

30 minutes, depends on walking speed, I walk my dogs for 30 minutes...
how far is your office from your house?
If I want to walk to my office it would take me 4 hours one way....

sorry, i didnt watch Twilight..
but think about safety - it may seem such a waste to drive a short distance - and one probably could use the exercise (walking/jogging/cycling), but i would prefer to drive even a short distance, if i feel that it is safer to do so... i mean - it maybe a short distance, but is it safe to walk the whole way...?

perhaps salf is the big reason for her to drive 2 miles to go to school, for me,if the distance is only 2 miles, we would like to school on foot.or by bike,it is good for our health. but i'm not sure that i will walk lonely.good luck and have a nice day.

Well I think you already know my answer to this my friend, being a health freak that I am, I will walk almost everywhere! I hate taking the bus and with petrol being so damn pricey I will walk. I prefer to walk, I even walk to the gym and back. 2 miles is not far, I would never even dream of taking the car for just two miles whatever the weather or the circumstance. I think nowadays people get too lazy, with all the technology available we want to do less and less.

Hey wolfie...I have to ask you to look at other factors besides being lazy. Do you have children? Are you going to walk them to and from school? That would be four miles twice a day for you. It is not safe to send a child off that far by themselves in alot of areas these days.
Also! In our circumstances, we live near a huge highway that has 3 lanes of traffic going each way, at speeds of 75 mph. Our children would have to cross that highway to get to school. First of all, it isn't legal to do so. Second, it isn't safe to do so. Please don't think I'm lazy just because I choose not to endanger my children.

I think it would definately depend on where the person lived! Our house is only two miles from the elementary school, but they kids would have to walk across a major interstate highway to get to it! Although it is perfectly a good distance to walk, it would not be safe at all. I think you have to look at other factors besides just the distance.

2 miles is like 3.2 kilometers... and i think that is a long way... back when i was still a student... we don't have a car... so we ride the jeep to go to school... and some even use a bicycle... or a tricycle... good thing there are a lot of public transportation available in my area... but for sure some students are not that lucky...

hi youless I could not walk two miles as I have a brace on one leg and walking a couple of blocks just about does me in.two miles to my way of thinking when you are going to school could better be traversed by car, takes too much time unless you are a speed walker.

I live in WA, where it rains about 9 months out of the year. Forks, which is directly on the coast, has even more rain and mist. There are plenty of times I will take the bus or drive for 1/2 a mile just to avoid getting soaked.

Where I live, there are certain times of the year where if you want to go anywhere without getting frostbite, you HAVE to drive. The winters here can get as low of temperatures as 30 below zero. In the summer I would normally walk, unless I'm late or feeling crappy.
