Does your writing slack after the 25th on Helium?

Hi, Sblossom. "Slack off" just means be lazy. For example, knowing that Helium does not count any articles you write after the 25th for that month (they get counted for the next month), sometimes I get lazy and don't start writing again until the new month begins. I just wondered if anyone else did that, too.

With Helium, you can easily re-post articles you have written elsewhere (as long as you have not given someone exclusive rights). With so many titles, that's an easy way to go without having to write even more. This works well with book reviews, travel articles, etc. At $18, you are close to payout. Also if you get 5 stars for rating by the end of the month, you get a $3 bonus. It might be too late to get there for October, but you could easily do that for next month.

Do you write online for other sites? Where do you like to publish your writing?

Oh, I don't usually pay attention to that myself, but I missed payout last month, and so this month I am extra vigilant. However, once that "magic date" of the 25th passes, I turn into a slacker again.

LOL. Thank you so much. I just asked my husband because I know it's different for each vehicle, if there was a way he could generalize explanations for me. LOL I should have known better! I told him what it was and he decided to tell me how each vehicle is different and whether it was front or back.

Needless to say $30 isn't enough and 450 words isn't enough either. LOL At least now we know why noone has written to the title. LOL If they know how to do that, they know they cannot write to the title without specifications. HEHEHE.

I think we have to seal your mouth shut, and make you write the articles. Helium's marketplace is very busy, so many titles pop out of nowhere and beg for writers!

Scheng, are you being mean to me? LOL. Seriously, how can you write an article that there is no correct information for. It's like writing an article about how a dog can fly. It wouldn't be honest.

Wow, 50 articles a month is a very impressive number. I should keep track and see how many I do myself, but I know it is nowhere near that number. I am lucky if I do one a day, at best. Are you posting them starting on the 25th or do you save them up and wait till the month begins, as Scheng suggests (so as to not jinx your star rating)? Or have you already reached the lofty heavens and don't have to worry about how many stars any longer? (I think this might be the case with you, but my bad memory isn't sure what I read here on MyLot).

five rating and five writing stars, so don't have too much to worry about on that front, although I do like my writing percentage to be above 90%.

As soon as I write I post so that I can start getting daily revenue immediately. Also posted one last week and within four days it had been sold as a stock item, so figure the quicker I post the more I will earn.

You sound like you are at the top of your game over on Helium. Just how many articles do you have over there? I love when my articles are selected; I've only had a couple chosen, but the extra bonus cash is nice.

up to 506 now, aiming for 600 by Xmas. I have sold a couple of stock items in last five days, and about ten in total.

Good luck with your rating. I know that I struggled for a long time with this, and then it finally settled into a good pattern of 3 stars. I had one dip this month to two, but it came back up again, once I started posting more articles. Hopefully the same will happen with you (ie, it will stabilize). I think the leapfrogging takes some time to work itself out, and I find that can have its own frustrations, too.

Oh, here I am giving you this encouragement, and today I see that I have lost a writing star (from 3 to 2), so of course I spent the day leapfrogging and then some more this evening. Too frustrating. I am right there with you.

I am trying to tell myself that it only matters what stars I have at the end of the month but it is so disconcerting to see one of them disappear! I wasn't able to maintain my rating stars when my computer was down so now I have to build up my 90 rating stats again.

Canellita, there are a few contests title about holiday crafts. I think you can win the contest with your creative ideas.
The craft for children and christmas gift ideas contests are still on, are you going to add a few articles?
I doubt you do not bow out of contests now. It's hard to maintain the writing score for contest titles.

There are lots of places to write, that's for sure. Whatever works for you; Helium does take some time and energy, but it can be a good place to write if you can squeeze it in, particularly because you can repost old articles there. They don't require exclusive rights like so many other places do!

Good point, and you have given me a perfect excuse to procrastinate. No, not really, I just switch over to AC until the end of the month. One of these days, I will reach the elusive goal of 4 stars. Till then, best not upset the apple cart, as they say.

Oh, don't you know that as soon as I think things are good for me, I lost one of my writing stars today. So I have been leapfrogging like crazy. It's just so coincidental that I never have this problem at the beginning of the month, only at the end. Hmmm.

If you rate a bit each time you post an article you won't have to try and get enough in at the end of the month to get the bonus.

You should get your four writing stars soon. Maybe this will serve as a motivation to write.
I'm concentrating on Hubpages for the time being, writing a series of articles on weight loss, then upload the Amazon products. Now I'm heartily sick of this stupid word.

Of course, you still get paid for your articles next month, but as Scheng points out (above), it can also affect your writing stars if your score goes down, which is a very bad thing indeed at the end of the month. You can always keep on writing, and then just post them when the first of the month rolls around.

I think that's probably the best way to retain your sanity. Just keep to your own goals and don't worry about what's going to happen or not. Do you have a lot of articles on Helium now?

I have about 80, I think. a few have been bought by marketplace, and I have 4 or 5 poems in for creative writing. I really enjoy it; I like researching, and choosing a title allows me to research stuff that interests me anyway.

I have articles elsewhere I need to move over to helium, I haven't done it yet. I'm a terrible procrastinator. That's why I set weekly goals for myself!

Wow - I couldn't write four articles a day to save my life. How long does it take you to write an article?

I said 4 per week, not per day - I couldn't do that either! [smile]. An article can take a few hours to a couple of days, depending on my knowledge of the subject, time available, and research materials. I'd guess I average 4-6 hours, since most of them take some research.

I tried an average of 5 articles before. In the end, I got my fourth writing stars, but felt so sick of writing that I stopped writing anything later.
I was very motivated, and had a good writing plans to stick to 5 articles per day. I used all my old study notes from college, and borrowed some books to supplements the notes.
I treated it as essay writing for college's subjects.
And I had a few book reviews. It's hard work, and not enjoyable, but it's possible to keep to 5 articles per day for a month. I doubt I can keep at that rate for a year.

Good for you! I don't think I could stick to it either. I write for a local community paper - that's the only dependable income source so they come first! But it's only part-time work, hence the internet writing. I also have other internet sources I write for. So I try to spend a set number of hours per day writing, and a set number on forums and/or promoting what I write so the articles sell. I have only limited success, but it's slowly growing.

I also work with shut-ins and am doing some renovation on my house - in my spare time!

I have to worry about keeping the five stars and making money - just like everyone else! I have a lot of junk to clean up because I am not a good editor.
