Reading Books Still Important?

I think yes,reading books still necessary.You right that we could get many information from internet but there is people who like colecting books and having book are different because you could repeat to read it and when there is no electric,you could turn on your PC.I teach my kids to reading books everyday even he could not read yet but I hope the he make it will be his hobby.

Reading books does help sometimes. Now a days hard cover books are replaced by ebooks/tutorials/forums etc. We get information from variety of sources. But still books are important, atleast in academic life. They're yet to replace by anything. I mean ppt/pdf all sounds good in academic life but needs books for more in depth discussion on syllabus. So reading books as well as other resources is necessary. Evey bit helps when it comes to gathering knowledge and improving. Yes, books are still necessary.

Hi getbrowser, Reading books is still a very popular pastime and I doubt if that will change anytime soon. While it's true that the Internet has brought great changes and information is readily available, it isn't the same as reading a book. Bookstores still do a brisk business and books are still very popular for gifts. As to whether this will change with the next generation, I guess we will just have to wait and see. Blessings.

My answer would be "maybe" But if it was a decade ago, my answer would be "yes". Because we have advanced so far in technology and communications. It is much easier to get facts from the internet and the television. But flipping thriugh books is a waste of time nowadays. It takes up time and you cant find the right thing you want.

But on the other hand, reading gives ud pleasure, a jot that is impossible to explain. Reading books are not only for information, but for fun and pleasure

Yes, reading book has a different feelings. Internet provides you topic based focused knowledge, whereas a book has a wider angle. Though you may say that one single book may not be sufficient and on net you get a wider source to varify or to learn. Still, dear friend, a printed book stands above all other forms of reading. And there is no other important style of reading yet. So what, we have many modern mode of reading now a days. Than you.

Although both medium are equally important, I would still say that books are still preferred. This is vital for learning and definitely more reliable especially if the person has poor judgment on which is true and fraudulent sites...

yes. with the advent to computers and internet, people think that reading books is no longer needed. it is true that the internet makes our life easier because we can find whatever we need without having to go to the library or buying a book. but i think that there is nothing still more satisfying than reading a whole book. nothing beats the smell of paper while reading your favorite novel sitting by the fireplace on a cold winter day with a popcorn in hand.

For education purposes reading books is a very integral part of education, no doubt there. Reading books is also a pleasure and much nicer than sitting long times on your butt reading small print on the Internet. I have also read e-books on the library Internet site..but you cannot curl up under the covers and a small lamp with your computer-setup.

I tend to like the style of certain authors too and literary critics help also to decide the value of a book's contents. So I borrow the books from the library or read them online.. but.. There IS also a lot of drivel on the Internet.. ever notice that??
