Pelosi and Reid "Burn in Hell" Effigy! |
|
Is anyone here going to defend this?
A "How to" for making your own Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid "Burn in Hell" effigy display. Contest for the best video at OverturnRoe.com.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYh-V4V-zrI
I seem to recall a great deal of outrage, quite justified, over burning and hanging effigies of Sarah Palin around this time last year. That kind of thing is indefensible no matter who the subject is! However, here we have anti-abortion activist Randall Terry giving instructions on how to make a video of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid burning in effigy and having a contest for the best one.
I KNOW how much those of you on the right hate Pelosi and Reid but PLEASE tell me you don't think this is OK!

anniepa (9246) | 2 months ago | I agree, Joanne, this hate does have to go but I'm afraid it's not going to anytime soon. In case anyone here didn't know this, by the way, I'm against this kind of thing no matter who the target is. This is simply one example I've just recently become aware of. I DO find Randall Terry to be a despicable excuse for a human being. NOT because he's anti-choice because that's his right, but because I feel he's a big part of the cause of acts of violence such as the cold-blooded murder of Dr. Tiller. That having been said, I wouldn't wish for anything to happen to him.

It is not a matter of people on the "right" hating them. Heck people on both sides hate Reid. Especially after Reid personally snuck into the bail out bill that the company's could use the money to pay their CEOs millions of dollars. Pelosi knew about it and did nothing to stop him or the bill after it was put in. They ripped off the american public. Not just the republicans...not just the democrates...all of us. I think everyone has a right to be hopping mad at that. In my opinion those two (plus a whole lot more on both sides) are the problem with our government today. Both are in lobbyists pockets. Both don't know what fiscal responsibility is. Both behave very unprofessional. Both do back door, closed door, shut the public out deals on the bills. Pelosi especially on that last one. It have nothing to do with their views on the issues and everyone to do with the fact that neither of them has an ethical bone in their bodies.
But that does not excuse making and burning effigies of them. The problem can be solved a hold lot easier....vote them out. Get eithcal people voted in.

anniepa (9246) | 2 months ago | Terry's reason for doing this is strictly on their pro-choice views and his claims that health care reform will include using federal funds to pay for abortion. I don't think this has anything to do with whether anyone likes or dislikes or approves or disapproves of Pelosi and Reid or even if they think they're unethical. NOTHING comes even remotely close to justifying this kind of behavior. There are enough crazies in this world today to make it a real possibility someone somewhere seeing Terry's site and learning of his "contest" will try to take it to another level and commit an act of violence against one of them or even someone else they associate with them.
I feel the same way about this sort of thing no matter who the subjects of the effigies are. It's wrong, it's unacceptable and indefensible no matter who's doing it or who is being shown being burned, hanged or any other depiction of an act of violence.

3. Taskr36 (4615) | 2 months ago | Of course it's wrong. It was wrong when they did it to Palin and Obama as well. Oddly enough though, the only time the police ever made anyone take such an effigy down was when it was Obama. The Palin effigy was taken down by people who found it offensive, and the morons who put it up called the police demanding they find the people who tore down their "art".

anniepa (9246) | 2 months ago | It's wrong to do it to anyone, anywhere, anytime! The police should always take down any such effigy, in my opinion. It's not "art" by any stretch of the imagination.
Now, let's see if you can somehow twist my words to mean I'm defending this if it's done to a Republican!

"I seem to recall a great deal of outrage, quite justified, over burning and hanging effigies of Sarah Palin around this time last year. That kind of thing is indefensible no matter who the subject is!"
My link was merely to point out that this kind thing IS common on both sides.

Taskr, you wrote, "I'm sure you're aware that Anniepa has never objected to effigies of republicans Ted. Those are somehow ok, or even deserved." Another LIE about me, I've never said any such thing was "ok" and I've certainly never said it was "deserved".
