What do you do for a headache? |
|
Recently I got a really bad headache all of a sudden. I used to get really bad headaches a lot, but here recently in the last year or so I haven't gotten that many. I took some Tylenol, took a bath and then slept for a while. When I woke up my headache was all gone. It depends on how bad my headache is hurting as to what I will do. I usually take some type of pain reliever and try not to watch tv or get on the computer, and take a bath. I will only lay down or go to sleep if it hurts really bad. If I haven't ate anything in the last little bit then I will try to eat something.
I have to be careful because I get migraines and thankfully I don't get that many anymore. A lot of the time if I have a headache and it keeps hurting it will turn into a migraine. I usually don't get a migraine right away.
So what do you do when you get a headache?

2. mrfdg1972 (515) | 4 weeks ago | how to get rid of your headache once in for all is to actually treat it is as a migraine. Just before the Aura of headache, towel your head with warm towel and then a cold towel and then warm. What is actually happening in a headache is the blood vessels are not working in tune, constriction are not in rhythm, so alternating hot and cold towel will remedy this rhythm. Cold towel with constrict and hot water will promote circulation, i guarantee you that headache to stop. There is also the Sunrise and Sunset headache, if you are experiencing this type of headache, you need to see your eyes checked, you may be required to wear eye glasses

o2bnocn (1021) | 4 weeks ago | I wear contacts and get my eyes checked regularly. I have put a cold washcloth on my head when I get a headache but not a hot one. I will have to try that. Thanks!

mrfdg1972 (515) | 4 weeks ago | sorry i am not very good in my english, but it is, hot first then cold, hot cold hot cold. from head to shoulder, you can try it now and you will feel your blood flowing nicely. I am sure it will work, I had a migraine for 8 years and that is what got me cured, although i am not totally cured, i still experience severe migraine attacks 2-3 times a year. And i remember this all started with just ordinary headache and eye astigmatism.

| 4. IrishWhisky (11) | 4 weeks ago | I read that a headache is the blood vessels in your brain are inflamed which could be from blood pressure, aspirin and tylenol are both for reducing inflammation and blood thinners which is why they give aspirin to heart attack victims. If you have frequent headache's you should have your blood pressure checked. Sleep is good, but stay away from things that can rase your blood pressure such as caffeine like coffee tea and chocolate. Glad you feel better.

5. smilyn (990) | 4 weeks ago | Usally I do not take any medicines for headaches. Only if it goes beyond my level of tolerance, I take Tylenol. Sometimes I suffer with headache because of lack of fluids in my body. So I always try to drink lots of water when I get headache.

6. BBaller (173) | 4 weeks ago | It depends on the origin of the headaches. treatment for them can be different. Taking analgesic is just treating the symptoms, sometimes it work, sometimes it doesn't. Knowing the cause, you can relieve the origin. e.g. if your headache came from high blood pressure, relaxation and treatment that reduce the blood pressure. Migrane headaches are different, fever sometimes can cause headaches, brain tumors, jaw abnormality...etc

7. CelticSoulSister (484) | 4 weeks ago | I don't get many headaches but if I do have one, I find a great cure is to lie on the floor and listen to some quiet Mozart in a darkened room. If I feel very lazy I'll take a couple of Cocodamol tablets. If I was getting headaches repeatedly, I'd go and have my eyes tested and if necessary have new glasses; but if it wasn't my eyes that was causing continual headaches, I'd visit the doctor to see if there was anything else wrong. Allergies to certain foods can cause headaches too, as can stress.

8. solared (844) | 4 weeks ago | Get my neck adjusted by a chiropractor. Squeeze and pinch the webbing between your thumb and index finger. Massage your head. Take a hot bath or shower. Apply cold ice to your neck.
Sit in total dark with no sound.
Stand up straight lower your head an pull your chin inward, that should pop your neck, don't have to use your hands.

10. sender621 (758) | 4 weeks ago | Most of the time when I get a headache, it is usually stress related. I try to get my in as relaxedd a mood as possible. I lie down on the couch, put my feet up and take a few aspirin. Rubbing my temples sometimes will ease some of the tension too. I'm not sure how to tell if a headache is a migraine or not. Every headache feels like your mind is blowing apart.
