Should I pursue this?

I don't know Dawn, it sounds to me like she does. Otherwise why would this woman even bother to look for their mother?

I think the same as sacmom. Anything could be keeping her from responding, her computer could have crashed, etc. I wouldn't give up, just yet, unless it's of no interest. I don't give up easily though. LOL!

It's been almost a week now. I think she is probably tripping out...lol...There's always the chance of being rejected but I have wondered about him since I was little. She may not even give me the time of day since it's not even me that she's looking for. I can't even remember who or why it "slipped" but it did and my dad's mom always promised to tell me all that she knew about him. I wish she had.

So do you think I should just ring her up? Or give it a little while longer? The post was 6 years ago! I can't believe I'm just now running across it. Sometimes I goggle my mom just to see.

I'd definitely give her a call. The sooner the better! Hopefully she still has the same number. Good luck again Jen. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Hi sacmom, I think u r very wise.:) I was about to suggest the same thing about the message landing in spam folder. If she doesnt want to b contacted, I dont think she would hesitate in telling that to Jen even after being contacted. At least, by contacting, Jen knows for sure.:) Have a nice day.:)

LOL...you should hear my whole story if you think that one is like a movie. I am curious but his birth date and his area fit the bill on what I was told when I was younger. I would make sure it was legit for sure. Thanks

To be honest..I had given up on finding him. I haven't even had a name. This is a complete fluke that I run across but WOW! Maybe I'll give it a shot! Thanks for sharing your story. Both my mother and father went on to have their own families and my granparents took care of me til they passed. I know what it's like. Take care.

Your right..that's the worst that could happen. I am so curious I am about to pop. I have picked that phone up a hundred times...but then I hang it back up..lol.

Oh Jen! This is so exciting...the only thing that takes the shine off of it tho is the little tidbit about it being 6 years ago:(
But, also, email...u can't asssume anything, unless of course that many mails end up in spam and never get found. I end up having to look through most of my spam (damn their a s s e s to hell) cuz every once in awhile, a real mail goes there by mistake.
So definitely call Jen! Who knows the month, the week, the hour or minute or even second that you call and her phone # changed. The sooner the better, don't put it off one more second.

I know..6 years. I can't understand why I haven't run across it until now. I sometimes google my mother because..well..I just have always wondered about what she was in to. Long story but anyway I do wonder why just now it comes up.

Words of wisdom my friend. I do believe that things are sometimes meant to be. I moved here not knowing anyone and it was two blocks away from my mother's aunt. My grandmother that had lived in California since I was 7 just happened to be there taking care of her sister after a stroke. She apparently looked in the phonebooks for my name everytime she come back to Tennessee. She found me. It was great to be reunited with her for the time we had together. Maybe this is another thing that is meant. Thanks for the response!

I bet that was great. Even if we weren't close or didn't "click", we would know where the other was and who we were. I'm glad you got to meet your sister. Thanks for responding.

Oh Opal..I can relate so much with what you have said! I was raised with alcoholics and I dreamed of a perfect mother that would come take me away. Little did I know that my life would have been much worse and I would not be who I am today. I saw my mother here and there...my father I saw more. My grandfather was an alcoholic but the kind that just went to sleep..mostly after my grandmother passed...but my dad..he was the rotten fighter kind of drinker. The one that was dangerous..oh my..thank goodness he didn't raise me. My poor half brother and sisters. I know now that I am better because my grandparents had me but..it was tough as a child to not understand and then to find out there was another abandoned...I want to do this but I am afraid..what if he doesn't like me? Anyway..thanks for hearing me.

Your right..lol..you know me pretty good. It will bug me if I don't give it a shot but I do worry. I think..what if he doesn't like me..or what if his adoptive mother just hangs up on me when I call her..lol..I guess I'm getting ahead of myself because I don't even know if the number is going to still be hers. There are a lot of things that eat at me but I have faced most of those. I am so excited and scared at the same time!

Hon listen- What if?, what if?, What if? You are a good person. You want to persue this. You need to persue this. It isn't as if you are some horror. You are a very sweet and upfront person. You will handle the situation in a very respectful way full of grace and class. If they, on the other hand, do not then it is their concious (and loss) that comes to bare, not yours. And if they want it and you do all you can to make the meeting happen then you have done your part and that is all that can be asked of anyone. You go into knowing there are risks. Surely they do too. Do you ever watch The Locator on WE? Marvelous show!

I don't think you just 'chanced' upon that post. I think there were forces at work.

I do wonder about those "forces" sometimes. If it weren't for "chance/forces" I would have never reunited with my mother's mom a few years back. I moved here not knowing a soul and come to find out my grandmother's sister lived only a few blocks away! Plus my grandmother just happened to be in from California and run across my name in the new phonebook! We shared about 5 years together being close before she passed. I am so thankful for that small amount of time. To think for all those years I thought she didn't want anything to do with me! I got her for a while though.
