Bang! Bang! Bang! Oh My G. Who's shooting at us?

how young was sister back then when you asked her to watch over what you were cooking. anyways, i didn't think it can make such a big sound and explosion. it is such a scary sound .

I've never had anything like this happen but I'll never forget the story my uncle told. May God rest his soul, but this was funny. It was when the miorowave ovens were just out and my uncle was going to do the good thing and buy auntie one which he did. He was so proud of this microweave oven. He had no teeth and no one could tell a story like he could. He bought a good one and paid plenty for it. He loved boiled eggs like no one I have ever seen. He was told the microwaves cook fast, so he thought that was pretty good. He placed a dozen eggs in the microwave and turned it to twenty minutes. He discribed the popping and banging sounds till I was laughing so hard I had tears running down my face. The eggs all exploded and he said he cleaned for a couple hours while everyone else laughed. Too funny!!!

I'm sorry but that is sooo funny.. Never had an incedent anything like this, ever..lol..i'll bet it smelled just horrid, eggs scorched & exploding?? I'd like to try it, but i'll tkae u=your word for it..lol..lori

You could ask her to do the gardening then the accident could be avoided. In kitchen like these kinds of accidents are common, if our attention distracted then something will happen definitely. Mostly I am wasting my milk. If I stand near to the milk then it will take long time to boil and if turned to do something it will definitely fell down. If I ask my niece to take care of any food which I am preparing, it will get spoil that is sure, better I will give the responsibility to her ask her to prepare it herself then there won’t be any problem.

I did a discussion about something similar a really long time ago and these are two cases that I mentioned.

I recall telling the story about the restaurant employee who decided to boil 3 dozen eggs and proceeded to forget and go home. Apparently the eggs eventually exploded in the pan and made a noise that several patrons thought was gunfire!

The other one was about a bachelor friend of mine who figured his mum taught him well and thought he would put a roast on for his dinner. He seasoned the meat placed it in the oven and went to the bathroom to take a shower. While upstairs the phone rang, it was some of his pals inviting him out for a drink. He obliged. When he returned the passage light was dim in the distance through the smoke; he forgot the roast in the oven when he went out! Now it was nothing but one inch piece of charcoal, lots of crackling there! Lucky his house was still in one piece!

Hi Hatley, the only exploding food I can recall in the kitchen is popcorn. I do remember leaving the house though and driving straight back after five minutes as I couldn't remember if I'd left a couple of eggs boiling on top of the cooker or not, and I had, so a good job I drove back home again.

I have never heard of eggs doing that. They really must have gotten hot. I did not have a scary accident in the kitchen, but one time when we were camping. The kids had went out and picked up buckeyes. They had messed with them for weeks and then just quit. We had a fire going one day and we were cleaning. I told my son to do something with them. He threw them in the fire. All of a sudden, I am in the camper cleaning, and I heard what sounded like gunshots. It was all the buckeyes exploding. It sounded like a machine gun. I never knew they would do that, and did not know at the time, that he had even thrown them in the fire.

Oh...gross...I bet it smelled really bad too! OH...talk about having to air out the house....bleh.....thanks...now I have a queasy stomach just thinking about it! LOL!

This reminds me of a story my grandmother told us years ago. She did the exact same thing - forgot about the boiling eggs and they wound up on the kitchen ceiling. Too funny!

I have experienced blowing my kettle with lots of water and with soup overflowing. Then, those eggs should really boil for at least 5 minutes and that is why it explodes as your sister have left her for longer minutes. That is the usual to heard those crackling sounds as the egg shells break into two and hit the cover of the pan or in your case she left it with no cover that is why they all splattered on the floor. Well, for me i have experience blowing pop corn that I make sure that I hold the pan with a cover before shaking it as if the cover is slightly open all the popcorn too would be scatter on the floor, with a lot of hissing sounds.
