What are Great Hobbies for Teenagers?

With utmost supervision, I don't think that access to the internet is bad idea at all. In fact, you can utilize the internet in introducing them to some good hobbies.

You can encourage them to create their own blog. This way you can hone their writing skills even more. They will then be able to express themselves not just in speaking but in writing as well.

If you are afraid that they will access unsafe sites, there's nothing to worry. There are a lot of softwares that will allow you to block these sites.

I know some teenagers in and their hobbies is not good...i think so...because their hobby is to do orkut all the time and if you get free from that than just go for visit some friends....I never find them with their study books. I don't think there are the great hobbies..

Hello getbrowser this is checkmail and often think mine hobbies were the best from all others like collection of antiques and currencies, reading, writting, playing diff sports,etc.But no a days the young kids only like crazy but great hobbies like climning mountains, car racing, motorcycle racings, Fightings competitions, Futball, etc where ever they can get adventure.And according to me if they are able in it then its good for them.All risk taking hobbies, mine are better than them.

I agree with you on this one. I myself is no exception on this discussion too. I have really addicted to computers. Except my work, I spend most of the time in front the monitor, either searching the information I am looking for, or chatting with online friends. That is my biggest hobby. I spend less and less time outdoor actually.

i support and encouraged my kids in their hobbies in sports...rather than going out and hang out with their friends and that they might meet friends that can lead them to bad influence.....

Art is a good hobby for teenagers who develop and interest in learning how to draw or paint or even just learn about the history of art from early times until today. Not all teenagers like to visit a museum or art gallery but for some it is an eye opener.

Some like to raise acquarium fish or grow plants I think they all like to go hiking in the woods or rock climbing or anything physical. Well, most of them. A family reading hour once a week where everyone reads together in the same room with no radio or tv and in the middle of the hour everyone stops and tells what they are reading and why the chose that and what value it is becomes useful, and then they read again. Some will not want to stop when the hour is up. If their homework is already done, maybe they do not have to!

have got to do with their interests, if the teen has drawing ability then doing art work of some kind would be great for him or her, it the teen is into music, then collecting their favorite
pieces, or perhaps the teen is into collecting things, stamps, rocks, pottery what have you. A sports minded teen would probably like to take up some new sport. it just depends first on the interests of each individual teen.my son was into electronics so his hobby was anything and everything connected to computers.

well, i guess football (soccer) is the best for anyone who enjoy any kind of sport

my husband has a hobby, aquarium with fish, my son has 3 years old so i want like my son to be preocupated with fish too in the future, to have a few good friends is enough becouse a lot of friends can make him do ugly things or to take drogs......so i think a hobby it would be good for my son, mabe aquarium fish, or mabe birds or etc

Hi:) When my daughters were teens, they loved playing board games with us or doing crafts and puzzles. I've noticed with my grandkids, that when parents participate, they do drag themselves away from the techno world for a while.

My girls also loved to read and sketch, or do things outdoors.

I think when we do things as families, that is key.
