If there's one thing in your body which you can live without...what would that be and why?
For me, I think one of the things I can't live without is my hair. Not that it's the least important but it was the first thing that came out of my mind. I really hate it when somebody accidentally catches my hair. I hate the fact that I always have to comb them hehehe. I also heard that bad people often choose to victimize people (especially girls) with long hair because they can always grab their hair if they try to fight. Long hair also poses as a dangerous thing to have because there was one case in our school where a girl was riding on a car and her hair got caught on something from outside the car so her scalp got ripped off..That was really scary..From then on, I started tidying up my hair. I always have it carefully pulled back but making sure it's not dangling around so it will never get caught on anything..:(
You? Which body part do you think you can live without? What part are you willing to give up? Why?

calai618 (963) | 3 months ago | Good thing I am not that beauty conscious lol. Or I can just wear a wig which can easily fall off or just wear a hat to cover by head hehehe. Yup the nails are really hard to deal with. I hate it when dirt accumulates on them and we end up having stomach aches because of the bacteria..:(

2. Hatley (21897) | 3 months ago | calai618 well I can and did live without my appendix, had it removed at age 20, and can live very nicely without my gallbladder had gallbladder surgery about twenty years ago. But my long silver hair, no that I will keep as it is one of my few assets,it and my blue green eyes are my best features.

|
calai618 (963) | 3 months ago | Oh really? I thought the appendix is the only thing inside us which can be removed without major effect on us..Thanks for sharing that. i actually concentrated on the outer part of the body since the inside is very complicated and I am sure they are all essential LOL. Thanks Hatley!!!!

3. muscles4me (9190) | 3 months ago | I would be willing to give up my hair also because I can always wear a scarf. I know one thing I could NOT do without and that would be my eyes. The thing I dread about growing old the most is loosing my eye sight.

calai618 (963) | 3 months ago | I have to agree..I am really afraid of losing my eyes..I am in the design industry so my eyes are really essential for me..I also dont want to never see my family and the world again..

calai618 (963) | 3 months ago | Lol I have tonsilitis right now and I hate it so much. But I have a question. DIdn't you feel anything strange after removing it? From what I heard a lot of Americans have teir tinsils removed but I really dont know the reasons. Also, from what I know the tonsils are the ones that refrain bacteria from going straight to our hearts and lungs (or something to that effect) that's why they are there. But since there are a lot of people having them removed, I guess that is not really a big deal...Thanks tdemex for the reply!

5. astonysh (1953) | 3 months ago | This is rather a clever concept, as virtually all parts of our anatomy are interdependant.
What came to mind originally would be the humerus (funny-bone) that thing in your arm that stings when you accidentally bang it. Of course there is then the question how it would affect the functioning of the rest of your arm if you lost it.
The alternative (really cheating, but anyway) would be the eyebrows! Personal beauty is no big thing for me, and they serve no functional purpose!
| |
| |
|
|
calai618 (963) | 3 months ago | Oh no not really!!! hehehe from what I know the eyebrows are the ones which redirects perspiration from the forehead so that they dont go directly to our eyes. But oh well, we can always dry them with our hankerchiefs hehehe

|
|
mashiuwsan (135) | 3 months ago | well, I think it's ok to lose the eyebrows. Some have theirs shaved off and replaced with tattoo so they don't have to tweeze their eyebrows regularly. And yeah you're right...you can just wipe perspiration off.

6. mashiuwsan (135) | 3 months ago | there are lots of nice clever answers here like hair or appendix...but if it were a major body part, I could live w/out 1 ear. It would be easy to hide it behind my hair or cover it up or something. But of course I hope it doesn't happen!

| hansyraj (9) | 2 months ago | i had seen a person without ears, that means without the outer portion of ear.But its very difficult to manage without that, because infection will get easily. And one more thing that doctor suggested to him that avoid the journeys.
I think every part is essential for us. if we lose any body part,we can overcome that with a powerful mind.Just go through our surroundings, we can get many examples.

7. lotterylover (4846) | 3 months ago | My big stomach. The rest of me is that big. My legs are not big and to get clothes to fit my stomach and legs is impossible. My pant legs especially my underwear is always so much bigger than my legs that my underwear really isn't much help in covering me unless I get those real long legged underwear. My shirt sleeves are always so many times larger than my arms.

calai618 (963) | 2 months ago | lol i have to agree with this. I really think my stomach is getting fatter. that's the only part of me that's big. I can't even wear my favorite jeans..:(

8. sysdexlicwriter (1139) | 3 months ago | Over the years I have learned that many parts of my body can be malfunctioning and still my body goes on. I am, however, so elated when everything returns to normal and all parts function just the way they should. It causes me to be grateful for even the smallest of things like a tooth, fingernail, or even hair.
As I get older, I could do without wrinkles, sagging body, etc. Most importantly, though, I could do without hate, envy, strife, nastiness, etc. I know these are not visible body parts but they sure make even the best of body parts appear so much less than what they are. I believe they are truly the ugly parts of our bodies.

9. dorannmwin (2451) | 3 months ago | There are two things that I think it would be very difficult for me to live without. The first one that comes to mind is my sight. I couldn't imagine having to go through the rest of my life not being able to see the light of the day or the beauty of nature around me. The other thing that I don't think I could live without is my hearing. I love music far to much to never be able to hear a note played again in my life. To have to be stuck in a world of silence would be devastating for me.
