Yes, he did and I LOVED every minute of it. Keith must be very proud of his fill-in host, he couldn't have done it better himself! Watch it here, and I don't care if you don't like the Huffington Post, this is where I found the video: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/10/31/lawrence-odonnell-slams-l_n_340841.html
Here's what Liz Cheney had to say on Fox News Radio's John Gibson Show yesterday:
"I think that what President Bush used to do is do it without the cameras. And I don't understand sort of showing up with the White House Press Pool with photographers and asking family members if you can take pictures. That's really hard for me to get my head around...It was a surprising way for the president to choose to do this."
Read it here: http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/10/liz-cheney-bush-had-more-class-than-obama-when-it-comes-to-fallen-soldiers.php
O'Donnell correctly pointed out that President Bush had never once visited Dover when the fallen soldiers' bodies were arriving and that the families' decisions as to whether or not to take pictures had been made before it was even known that the President would be there.
I guess my question is why is Liz Cheney being so classless herself? I guess the apple really doesn't fall far from the tree - especially when it's a rotten apple and from a tree FULL of rotten apples!

Hi Annie!
This was absolutely fabulous! That acorn is firmly rooted right at the foot of the tree, obviously!

You guys are probably some of the ones who call Hannity, Limbaugh and Beck haters and scream foul but you love Olbie and this nut job.

...Hi annie, I love it, I heard part of what Lizzie said on Rachael's show. This entire family does not have a concept of what the truth is. Things that they have in their minds just fall out, never mind if it ever happened or not, and if you notice they never correct anything. Just like that long time ago, when Cheney was debating John Edwards, and looked at him and said he had never seen him before in the Senate, a blatant lie, Mrs. Edwards called him on it and he just looked at her. The Cheney's have their own version of reality and the heck with the truth. Cheney talks out of
the side of his mouth just like a gangster, which I feel he is, a dressed up gangster. Forgive me for disparaging a former VP, but he's horrible. Lizzie is the same and both are so mean. Thanks for the link. Take care.

I had to look this guy up because I didn't know his name but I recognized the face later. Ms. Cheney has far more class in her little finger than this jerk has in his whole body. He is no class act but instead he's just another unhinged liberal. Yes, I think Olbie would be very proud of him. They're both despicable human beings, and I use that word loosely when referring to those two.
Obama used the whole thing as a photo opertunity because his ratings are falling. That's it. Plain and simple. Bush shed plenty of tears and met with the famlies of fallen soldiers but he did so away from the reporters and cameras. I have much more respect for him I do for Obama.

Class...LIZ CHENEY...are we talking about the same Liz Cheney...lol? Also, I can't believe you're calling someone else "despicable human beings" in a discussion about anything Cheney. It's a personal choice whether someone wants or does not want photographs to be taken of their fallen loved ones when they're brought back to Dover. Everyone's wishes were respected which is how it should be. Some people woud consider it to be a huge honor to have the President, the Vice President or their Senator or Congressman there to meet them.
May I ask how you know Bush "shed plenty of tears"? I'm not saying he didn't and actually he probably did have a lot more feelings for the fallen soldiers and their families than the D1ck and his daughter ever did.
Never mind "more" respect, I have NO respect for Liz or her dithering, amnesiac dad the D1ck!

No, Bush never went to Dover to receive the bodies of the fallen servicemen. Bush preferred to meet with the families in private and did so. But until the Obama administration lifted the ban on the media being present, neither did photographers go there. It turned out to be quite fortuitous for Obama that he was able to get his picture taken while being so caring and concerned.
I think the point is that Obama is perceived as turning this very tragic event into a photo op, and that, to my mind, is fairly despicable.
Hatred of all things Cheney is really no excuse to excuse Obama for this very well-planned bit of publicity.

I can imagine Obama's talk including words like I, me, my, and myself. He's never done anything that didn't include praising himself. Probably turned to make sure they got his best side.
Nothing more than a photo op.

Give the commander in chief some credit for going to the site, giving respect before making the decision whether or not to send 40,000 more young Americans into harms way.
Whatever your politics, given the man some credit, please.

Personally I think this was a publicity stunt on Obama's part. If he wanted to pay his respects to the fallen soliders and their families he could have done it without all the cameras and the "oh look at me, look at me, look what I am doing, aren't I great" thing.
Our fallen should not be used as a "photo op" or "publicy stunt" by anyone. They deserve more dignity and respect than that.

Lil, I happen to respectfully disagree with you on this one. I don't think this was used as a photo-op by President Obama and I think that he was in a no-win situation either way since the ban on photographs at Dover was lifted. Since he did make an appearance he's being trashed by his detractors but if he hadn't he'd probably be taking some flack, in some cases probably from some of the SAME people because that's the way it goes. Everything and everybody is used as a political football in the country we're living in right now.

by the way....I am not a fan of Liz Cheney. I don't think she has class or much else to tell you the truth. And she saw an opportunity to attack Obama and she used it. Both ar wrong. Obama should not have done it so publicly....Liz should stop being a petty b*tch.
Sorry but this whole thing just ticks me off. I am from a military family. I have great pride in ALL our service men and women. They should not be used by either side as fodder for each side to use to wage war on each other. They put their lives on the line for all of us. THey miss years of their families lives...their chidlrens lives. Christmases, birthdays, family events...things we take for granted...they do without. They sacrifice alot for their country even if they are not killed. Some pay the ultimate price for the rest of us. They deserve to be treated better than that. They are our heroes. Wether we approve of the war they are fighting or not. The least we can do is treat them and their families with the upmost respect and show our gradititude for what they done for all of us.
Which means....don't use them as a publicity stunt and don't use them for political warfare.
