Do You Believe in Spirit Guides?

Wow, that's an amazing story. Do you feel strengthened since it happened - self-assured? I mean, it's one thing to have faith, it's another for that faith to be proven in some way. How do you feel?

That's funny you should say that because I've been remembering that day and I realize that I DO feel more comfortable, more calm.....more safe if you know what I mean!
I used to always believe; that's not something I ever questioned but I was brought up to believe that God was this big important being that didn't have time for the petty everyday things in our life.
Now I realize that whoever or whatever it is; is a helper not only to me but to the highest being; God.
I think that made me more of a believer of what I already knew.

That's great - to have that deep reckoning in your core. What heppened to you happened for a reason - don't you think?

You know I've often wondered about that. I have to think that there is a plan; that something is supposed to happen or I'm to make some kind of a difference somehow.
I know that probably sounds a little self important or even a little corny but I don't know why I would live when I could have easily died.

Are there things you've done differently since then and/or things you've set out to achieve (and achieved it), things you've pressed on with without hesitating because of what happened?

I'm sorry if I'm asking lots of questions. Hope you don't mind. I'm just curious/interested.

I think your story is worth sharing. Maybe you could share it with a group where you live.

I actually have shared this story with a group of kids that I helped with in church. They were questioning the long standing belief of Guardian Angels...something we Catholics believe.
I think it really helped them.
I have often wondered about what impact I've had on my fellow travelers in our time....not really sure how to answer that....I do try to always remember that moment in time when I feel sorry for myself or feel that life is dealing me a bad hand.

I'm thinking time isn't really of the essence when you're dead, so maybe a soul wouldn't consider being here a waste of time. Besides, they might have some unfinished business or something.

If all humans come in different shades of positive and negative energy, then why not the souls who are here?

i do have a spirit guide though, he is a physical one. i met him, and we have a spiritual relationship, even across the distance of miles. his influence is always with me. i think he initiated me into something... i compare what happened to an indian vision quest. it's kind of scary. we are very much vibrationally the same. it's hard to be without him. since leaving, i've had a hard time taking up my nonphysical practices. but i do sometimes. i feel him in my practices if i want to. and in dreams. it's so hard! i don't know what to do. they were so lucid, and it was so hard. they were very emotional. so now i'm backing away. and i'm in a quasi state. thanks for the question!

When you say a physical one, what do you mean? Could you elaborate on that, please? Do you mean a human who you believe is your spiritual guide? If so, do you think there's a difference between a spiritual guide and a spirit guide?

In any case, what a fascinating connection you have with this being. Sounds deep. Why are you backing away? Do you not think your experience with him/her is a good/beneficial one?

That's interesting. Do you speak to him out loud or in your head? Could you give me an instance of when you felt he's helped you (if you don't mind sharing)?

If I'm alone, I talk out loud but most times I talk in my head. He usually helps me with little things, like which exit to get off the highway. A couple of times he's given me guidance with some important decisions or he will warn me to calm down with something gets me angry and I'm likely to respond inappropriately. Sometimes it's hard to tell if it's my guide or my intuition that guides me, perhaps a good combination.
I don't have any specific stories, sorry. As I said, sometimes I can sense his presence, often he'll stand back and let me do with I'm inclined to do, good or bad but he reminds me of a lesson to be learned there. He's not as strong a presence and I'd like but it seems to be working this way.

A close friend of mine (who is a sensitive) told me I have a spirit guide and that I have more than one. This whole spirit-guide phenomena is very very new to me and creating this discussion is my way of finding out about it through other people's experiences, so I thank you for sharing yours.

I hear you on the intuition part. My friend told me in order to connect with my guide/s, I need to tap in, ask questions and listen, but I'm there thinking 'well, how can I tell the difference between the voice in my head that I've always had and my spirit guide/s.' Or are they both one and the same?

I know what you mean, my guide's voice is my voice. One has to question who's doing the talking, but from what I've read, the same voice is often the case. Really, sensitive people, I think, don't quote me on this, can hear a different voice. Quiet your mind and ask a question of your guide, I first asked mine his name and the answer came clear as could be, in my head. Good luck, enjoy our newfound friend. By the way, I have an animal guide too. I didn't know it until I asked if I have one and who he is, in my mind, I saw an otter.

Hmm. Same voice. I'm gonna read up some more on that - see what I can find on the net. If that's the case, maybe I've been looking for something that's been there all along.

I do find it hard to get quiet in my head as I have a whole city in there! Maybe one of my spirit guides is a musician because I wake up a lot of the time with music in my head. Some of them aren't songs I've ever heard. Or maybe it's all me - I don't know.

You have an animal guide? How do you think it helps you? Or does it?

There are lots of books on spirit guides, check amazon.com, you can buy used books there, they don't cost as much as new. Be careful though, sometimes after you figure in the $3.99 shipping fee you can pay more for the book than if you went to a book store, I learned that lesson the hard way.
Animal guides, I'm new to them really. I haven't done much of anything with my animal guide, I read that you're supposed to try to communicate with them often. I guess they will give you the same advice as spirit guides. I have difficulty enough to concentrate getting through the day much less two guides. Like you, I don't meditate well, my mind is too busy. I've been trying to count, with my breathing, to ten but I can't focus. I tend to count and think of things at the same time, even inside my head I multi-task. I'm able to clear my head for a short while, I've got to work on extending that time.

I wonder how your animal guide would talk to you, though. Would it speak English? Or would it just communicate in an unspoken language?

I think I might go to my local library and see what they have before I opt for a purchase.

Counting doesn't work for me, either. My mind is too playful to concentrate on just that.

lol, I need guides, if you knew how jumbled my mind gets you'd agree. They help to remind me to slow down and focus, when my mind gets racing and I seem to be running out of control, they are there to keep me grounded.
