hi ElicBxn oh my that brings back memories of my black cat
Midnight. He would do that too only he was so careful. He
never snagged me but he would pat my lips and keep patting'
until I would open my eyes. then he would sit on my chest
and purr like a plump black motor boat. I never did know
how he kept from snagging my lips.wow that really must have
hurt as there are so many nerves in your face anyway. I had
always marveled at Midnight as his paw was like a feather
touching my lips. how could he not snag me, it was a wonder
to me. I think some cats will watch the movement of your eyes and lips while you are sleeping. odd funny little creatures,our cats.

Yes my cat has unintentionally hurt me, it happened a few months ago when I was holding my cat in my lap. now keep in mind my cat stays indoors, in fact he hasn't really been outside in a long time, so when people come over and the door opens my cat gets a bit startled by the wind and light coming from outside, and on this particular day I was holding my cat and he totally freaked out, and he leaped off my lap and his claws dug hard into my side, leaving a big scratch on the side of my stomach I still have the scar. so from now on whenever theres a day when the door will be opening and closing I try to remember not to hold my cat near me to be safe.

Yes, Bootsie comes to the front door for me to take him THROUGH the house to the back yard and the food. Why? Because he doesn't like the dog holding him down and licking and slobbering on him. Spoiled cat. So I am taking him through the house and then my wee son comes towards him talking too loudly. Bootsie is shy of the wee one cause he's a bit rough still. LOL! Bootse tries to get away and hooks me in the neck with his claw. It just caught the top layer of skin, but you know NEVER to pull away from a cats claws or you will get your flesh ripped, so I brought him in close and held his foot and pulled it out as my husband sat and watched. fftttt. I put him straight outside and went and washed it with soap and water and it was nearly gone by the afternoon. Luckily my cats are outside cats so their claws aren't as toxic as litter box users. Really...dirt dirt is cleaner than litter box 'dirt'. LOL! He didn't mean to hurt me, he was just scared. He's such a cute boy, looks a bit like a lion. Let me see if I still have that recent pic, brb. Rats can't find it! Trust me, he's a cute cat!

I think we all get hurt when they get in their clawing things to stretch phase, you know your petting them in your lap or something and they stretch and extend their claws.

Yeah, usually because a nail is broken and the cat can't retract it. They generally do retract their nails when I pick them up. But when they jump up and I don't have clothes somewhere, ou!

Unfortunately this is a constant in my house. I have two cuddlers, one loves to tell me he loves me by digging in his claws. He does not realize it hurts. He likes to sit on my lap and put his front legs around my neck in a people style hug, but he digs in his claws. Also if he or the other blond one cannot quite make it to my lap they hang on for dear life and hurt me.

When Wilde was a kitten he had a thing for curtains like many do, this little guy was like spider-man lol.

Once time he was half way up the curtains and I went to get him down and the whole curtain rail came down om my head lol. Nice little bump on the noggin from that one.

I don't blame him though, I blame my shoddy workmanship for not putting up the curtain rail securely, at least I learned something from it

My herd have a tendency to lay in my lap and fall deep asleep. Then some noise startles them and they jump straight up and lay tracks down my thighs! I look like I got caught in a bramble patch!

My black outside cat is the one to be careful of. When I hang laundry out he will lay on my feet and as sure as God made little green apples I'll trip over him. He also has the habit of walking between my feet...It makes me look like a duck when I walk down the driveway.

I hope you're lip is doing better, and I am sure you know to keep a whether eye on it for infections as unfortunately cats claws aren't too clean. But if it bleed well you don't have too much to worry about.

Hug Scamp for us, poor baby has to feel awful for hurting mummy.

I had a cat, DC, who would wait by the door for me to get home from work. Every night I was greeted with her joy at seeing me. When I walked in the door, it was her habit to jump up onto my shoulder so that she could rub her head against mine. As she got older, I would have to bend over so that it wasn't so high of a leap for her. Once in a while I would feel a claw against my skin, but most of the time she was great with not scratching when she jumped. At night she used to sleep wrapped around my head, but she never stepped onto me. I'm sure that Scamp didn't mean to hurt you, he was just feeling affectionate and wanted to wake you up. When DC wanted to wake me up she used to stick her cold nose in my ear...and it worked like a charm every time.
