How Much Money Would it Take to Make you Happy? |
|
Imagine that you've just won the lottery. The amount hasn't been determined. Part of the deal with this hypothetical lottery is that you get to chose the amount that you are paid out. How much would it be to make you happy?
For us, I would be perfectly happy with $100,000 dollars. The reason that I chose this amount is that it would be enough to pay off all of our debt and to buy a new car as well. We would be able to start fresh and hopefully never find ourselves in debt again.

11. colu41 (230) | 4 weeks ago | I mean if I was offered $100 of course I'd take it....but if I had the choice...
I would have to be happy the rest of my life....So I probably, (not to be greed) would be well off with $2mil....
Buy a nice house, a nice car, pay the bills off for the rest of my life, and have the money left over for food, gas, and whatever else. Especially vacations!!=D

dorannmwin (1820) | 4 weeks ago | Two million dollars is also the amount of money that my husband said it would take for him to be happy as well. The reason that he gave for this is that it would pay off all of the outstanding debt that we have as well as having enough money to be comfortable for the rest of our lives.

12. bounce58 (656) | 4 weeks ago | I would also like to win this kind of lottery. Of course it'll be great if the prize was millions and millions of dollars. But I would also be very happy with $100,000 as this would be more than enough to cover our debts. In fact, $40,000would be even enough. Debts will be managed and I can even squeeze in quick family vacation to Hawaii with that.

dorannmwin (1820) | 4 weeks ago | That sounds like a lot of fun. I too would like to be able to have a quick family vacation somewhere. Hawaii would be nice, but I'd also like to be able to take a trip to Europe as well.

13. magrylouyu (1024) | 4 weeks ago | I would have to say I would be happy with $600,000. The reason I chose this amount is because I have a big family. It's myself, my husband and our 4 children. They range from 6 1/2 to 4 months. Right now we're in a tough situation. We got asked to move in with my parents as my mom is getting sick and it's hard for her to do alot of things on her own. She could use the help but having 8 people under one roof I think is going to be a bit crazy. I think that would be enough to get a 3-4 bedroom house for my family living close to my parents (right now we live 4 hours away). Then have college funds set aside for the children, get a new family van, and pay off alot of our debt, lord knows between my husband and myself the amount is probably a number we would not like to know. Over all in reality I would be perfectly happy getting $50,000 and still be comfortable.

dorannmwin (1820) | 4 weeks ago | Having that many people under one roof would indeed be enough to make almost any person be crazy. We lived with my mother and the rest of the family for the past several years until we were able to move into our own house seven months ago. Just going from a home with ten people in it to going into our house with just the four of us has made me significantly more happy than I was when we were living in my family home.

| 14. annicer (1) | 4 weeks ago | My husband looked at mega millions one night when it was at 80 million dollars. I told him that I would not want 80 million because I could not spend that much!
All I want is be debt free and to be able to afford the things I want without having to think about putting it on a credit card.
I live in the Bahamas. I want enough money that if my husbands' favorite football team is in the championship, that I can buy him tickets to the game. I also want enough money to send my parents on trips to places they have never visited (which is everywhere besides South Florida)!
My husband says that he was attracted to me because I'm not materialistic. Brand name clothing, bags or jewelry hold no fascination for me. A trip to Paris or Spain, you can count me in!

dorannmwin (1820) | 4 weeks ago | That would be very neat for you to be able to send your husband on a trip to see his favorite football team play when they were in the championship game. Like you, I'm not a really materialistic person, I just want to be able to be comfortable.

17. rg0205 (1718) | 4 weeks ago | I never really thought about an amount but I would say something that could keep a roof over my head and take care of me and my family. 100,000 would definitely make me more than happy though. Then I would be able to do more and not be held back for financial reasons.

dorannmwin (1820) | 4 weeks ago | I agree with you, I think this number is a number that would make people comfortable in most situations but it is also an amount of money that is not so huge that it would get people into a lot of trouble.

20. sweetyethot (1043) | 4 weeks ago | For me,10,000RMB is ok,cuz our family is in debt now,and that amount would help a lot to lessen my parents' burden.10,000 dollars would be great, cuz besides paying off all my family debt,I would have enough money to buy a car or plan to buy an apartment for myself by installment.lol Would that be wonderful?Or perhaps I would do some investments and make money grow.
