What do U think about the Health Care vote? Now on to the Senate. Will it Pass? |
|
Wow! I've just received the coolest call ever! I got a call to connect me to my Representative to tell him/her how I felt about the vote in the US House of Reps passing the government run health care plan! How cool is that?! There was a real person on the other end of the line. So my question to you is: For - Why? Against - Why?
and
What do you think the Senate will do? Are you be proactive for your choice? Voice your Choice while you can!
Play nicely. We can't all agree on everything. Site your sources please if you're quoting facts. Thanks!

1. danrunsfast614 (1080) | 2 months ago | I think change is necessary. I haven't quite read through the whole bill yet, but it seems like a solid first step. That being said, I am a pessimist, and since nothing ever seems to get done in government, I am worried this will just wither and die.

Bearballew (278) | 2 months ago | Interresting. I would think that the vote Sat. would have inpired the pessimist in you.:*) The reason I say that is that on Thursday it looked as though the Dems didn't have enough votes to pass it. Then We the People wake up Sunday morning and even a Repb voted for it! It barely passed, but it did. This government sure keeps us guessing! Thanks for sharing.

2. gewcew23 (4085) | 2 months ago | I will tell you why I am for this and against this. First against, this will add over one trillion dollars to a national debt that will be at 12 trillion dollars by the end of this year. Also it takes away freedom of choice from those that do not want insurance. Secondly, for this by adding more and more debt we speed up the financial crash of the federal government. This is not such a bad thing, once people realize that government cannot provide everything, we will start taking care of our selves, instead of depending on government.

Bearballew (278) | 1 month ago | Very well put. Thank you for sharing. I'm in NO way for More debt. No matter what. They need to be honest with us about that part so we can then hold them accountable. Don't THEY work for US?

3. nzinky (438) | 2 months ago | I'm against it cause it is going to shot the national debt up and senior citizens are getting the shaft again......From what I hear about the vote it wasn't a fair one cause Obama was up there handing out money like it was Christmas Eve.....He bought the vote just like he bought the vote to get elected....And don't tell me he didn't cause we have to many paybacks everyone of those Czars we have up there now is a payoff....
He wants to cut peoples pay in the Business World here an idea for him lets cut all those Czars pay then we can cut congress pay and the presidents pay and vice president pay while we are at lets cut the Senate and House of Repsentives pay then we will have a whole lot more money to pay off the national debt.....
Our forefathers didn't have any money to pay people so they were civial servants but our politions now think they are worth a million dollars a year......And they don't want to listen to the people so I think it would be nice if they all resigned or get voted out of office........Then maybe they would do what we want and not let their votes be baought.....

Bearballew (278) | 1 month ago | You are VERY Wise in saying that our ForeFathers weren't paid. They served because they believed that God the Father sent them here to create a place where we were free to succeed in His name. This government is NOT about helping people succeed. We are falling from grace and it's not going to be pretty when we hit the bottom. I agree that our Senior Citizens should be HONORED not shafted. They have served and served in a time in American history where they lived and enforced morals and personal success. They deserve better than this. I am so ashamed of this "reform" that is being pushed even though a majority of people don't want it...ESPECIALLY if we go to jail for NOT "choosing" it. What kind of choice is a forced one? Thank you for writing. Voice YOUR choice while you can!

bestboy19 (1393) | 2 months ago | Couldn't your son have signed up for Medicaid?
| |
|
|
Bearballew (278) | 1 month ago | I understand not being insured. I went without insurance for years because I bought into the whole "I can't afford it" idea that the media promoted. However, my private health insurance cost LESS than my car insurance which I never had a second thought in NOT paying. I didn't even investigate until I was strongly encouraged to carry a policy. Now I see how simple it was (WITH PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS FULLY DISCLOSED), and I have complete peace about having it. Just like my car insurance that I had to use 2 years ago on the 19th for a major car accident that wasn't my fault. I have also used Medicaid when we needed maternity insurance. If EVER there was a pre-existing condition it's pregnancy!:*) It was covered 100% from the day of conception and it ended in a major medical battle for our lives. Medicaid was there, worked well, didn't cost me a thing and was set up for those that can't afford a private insurance. It was a great blessing to us and to many that use it. I AGREE that we need some changes, but not these changes. 1. Lower deductibles 2. less doctor lawsuits filed - this would lower the dr.s rates becasue they wouldn't have to pay for malpractice insurance with SUPER high rates 3. ACCEPT ALL pre-existing conditions 4. treat ALL medical conditions 5. create equal guidelines for each state and for each health insurance company 6. do not discriminate for age, race, creed or medical history or pre-disposition 7. ALL Children should be covered 100%, including vision and dental 8. create health advocates, not death panel type "educators"
There is a lot we can do to make this for everyone. There is a lot that needs to be taken out as it stands. If it's so great of a policy, why didn't Congress get to read it? Why didn't we get all of the info? Why do so many people NOT want it? Where is the transparency we were promised? We can do better than this. We founded the first truly FREE country from the ground up... we can conquer health care.
Thank you for playing fairly and I hope that my comments are not taken personally by you or anyone reading this.

5. dorannmwin (2280) | 2 months ago | I believe that there needs to be change in the healthcare field, but I am not entirely sure that this is the right way to do it. We've always had private healthcare for our family or else we have made the decision to go without insurance (this coming after my insurance company refused to even give me negotiated rates after I had a miscarriage, they claimed that I did not have maternity insurance though I was paying for it). I honestly think that the change that needs to be made should be such that the medical field would opperate in a way much like the dental or vision fields. Where there was a competitive marketplace and consumers could make their own choice. I think that as consumers we should know up front what we are going to be paying for our care and not hit up a month or more down the line with an astronomical bill.

7. anniepa (9274) | 2 months ago | I sure HOPE it passes but I also hope they get rid of that "abortion" amendment added in the House and just let it be as it was originally written - to follow the current law which is that no public funds can be used for abortions but if someone private insurance, which they paid for with their own money, covers it that's their right. I'd have like to have seen a single-payer system, sort of like "Medicare for All", but that wasn't even on the table.

8. mikeysmom (1994) | 2 months ago | i am not really sure what to think and i like some things and dislike some things so i have mixed feelings as well. the penalizing people if they do not have coverage makes no sense. if people cannot afford coverage how the heck can they afford to pay fines??? what genius came up with that idea. also if you are here illegally you should not get coverage and you should not be here in the first place. sorry if that is not politically correct but it is how i feel. try leaving the US and going to another country illegally and see how they treat you there.

9. bestboy19 (1393) | 2 months ago | I hope this Health Care bill doesn't pass. The federal government intrudes in our lives too much as it is. Even though I already have health insurance, I hate the idea of it being forced on anyone. Some people just flat out don't want it.
As far as the Senate vote goes, I can't see any Republicans voting for it. Of course, the Democrats could pass it without the Republican's vote, but not all Dems are for it either. I believe it's going to be close, whichever way it goes. If it does pass, I hope the ones who vote for it (House and Senate alike) get the axe the next time they're up for election.

muscles4me (9067) | 2 months ago | I hope they all get the ax anyway, we need all new in the House. I have my own insurance but it will cost me more if this health care goes into effect. I think lot of people are clueless about this bill and think it is going to be free. They will have to pay for it.

Every time the government steps in to make something more affordable the price goes up.

debrakcarey (1351) | 1 month ago | They couldn't run medicare or medicaid without waste and fraud...and no matter what anyone says...if the government is paying for it there will be rationing.
My son was recently put on the transplant list for a liver. (He's recovered and no longer on it)I asked the specialist who headed up the transplant team if his not having insurance would factor into his getting a liver if needed. He said it was not a factor..it was need and viability...his chances of recovery if he should need the transplant. He then added...thank God that this did not happen a few years down the line...as doctors would no longer have the say. This was from a very well respected and dedicated professional.
I am against the healthcare 'reform'. My recent experience with life and death convinced me that we have the best medical system in the world....and that will all go down the tubes when government starts paying for it and supposing to know what is 'best'. It happens with medicare and medicaid now....it will happen with this 'reform'.

Bearballew (278) | 1 month ago | AND.. not only these things, but HOW long will it take to be seen? Do we get to disagree with Uncle Sam about a newly mandated form of treatment that we don't want....kinda like how they tried to get us all to take the H1N1 Vac... (No offense to anyone that took it.) I'm just pointing out that they REAAAALLY pushed that one and then didn't have enough to "help" us all! Either H1N1 ISN'T that deadly, the US Gov DOESN'T care if we die from it, the US Government has no control over vaccine manufacturing or ... ALL of the above! Simple reform would be.... ACCEPT ALL PERSONS requesting Health Insurance. If they have the money, they'll pay. We all do with car insurance. If they don't have insurance becasue they can't afford it, well, isnt' that what Medicaid and Medicare are for? CHP+ ... etc... WE HAVE FREE Health care options out there!! Good points people. Thank you for sharing.
