Deleting discussions...

Do you ever wish that you could delete a discussion that you started? I have always thought why isn't there like an edit or delete button? I am one of those types that get typing so fast that I skip over words or misspell them and with firefox it would highlight the words but with internet explorer I have to hit the spell check button and most times I forget to hit it before hitting submot and then I get into rereading my posts and thing WTH? I confuse myself sometimes so i have no idea how you all can read it and I think I wish I could edit that and even once or twice I thought to bad I can't just delete that whole thing LOL Have you ever had this?

No No Sachin, Oreo is right. I am not talking about breaking the rules and getting deleted I am talking about typing too fast and misspelling a word or doing like I always do and completely leave a word out. I know that there are going to be times when you respond to a discussion that gets flagged and/or deleted and I too hope that none of my discussions do but I am mainly talking about having an edit button for when I type certain things like shooper instead of shopper LOL Thanks for your response

I'm great at leaving out whole words, myself LOL I try to always proofread but, even though I do, I may still miss something. I don't think we'll ever see edit or delete abilities here, though, because myLot is a paying forum. Giving people the ability to change content after it's posted would certainly mess with the earnings calculations - and it could also be easily abused (such as targeting certain members and making sure their posts get deleted, etc.). It would also be unfair to responders if the originator of the discussion could change their mind and delete the full conversation, thereby deleting the earnings of all those who took the time to reply. But don't worry about your posts, froggieslover... I think most of us, for the amount of time we've been online, are really fluent in typos LOL!

Hello, yes that makes complete sense as to why there more than likely never be a delete or edit...it would get hard to keep track of, I never thought of that. I try to at least spell check but I never proof read because for me I know what it is suppose to say so i would probably read it that way as well LOL...thanks for your response thinkingoutloud

ROFL! I know exactly what you mean by that, froggieslover... I can read something over 4 or 5 times and never see the mistakes and then, as soon as I go ahead and post it -- there they are!!

Yes! I would love to delete certain posts of mine that have obvious grammatical errors, or ones that I was impulsive to write - and ones that are possibly repeat discussions. It would be nice to have the control over discussions that you do at some PTP sites - to edit and delete, but oh well. I can't complain about MyLot, I love it!

I agree mylot is great...I have seen to many of my responses or discussions where I have made a spelling or grammar error and it just makes me thing what the heck, I know how to spell that so why is it misspelled? As long as everyone else understands it I guess I am okay with it...Thanks for your response maezee

Hello froggieslover this is checkmail and me too often think that i miss something to add up in mine discussions, but later satisfies as i can state that remaining info in the responses to the respondents.Yeah do think there must be an edit button in Mylot, in order to edit it anytime. There have been some objectional responses to mine post also, so would like to correct that part in mine discusisons.Rest everything goes well till i have the required count of responses.Anyways Happy Mylotting.Be patience while submitting the discussion.

Hello checkmail, edit would be a nice feature and I have now realized that there is an edit button but it can only be used before you hit the submit button. i will just have to take more time in proof reading my posts...I have the same in my disussions. Thanks for your reponse

I wish that too. A couple days ago, I started out a discussion where when I tried to post it, a message said that I can only use letters, numbers, and normal puctuation marks. As my discussion had a plus sign within it, I had to redo it again. After I posted this second try, I realized the first one went online too. I wanted to delete one, but I couldn't. Of course I have some discussions here where other Lotters maybe think is boring, and not worth the response. I'm not angry.

Well I have never had that happen but that would be a good reason for wanting to use the delete button...I have never really come acrossed a time that I have wanted to delete a discussion or response but I have had times when it would be nice to edit mostly because of missing words or spelling....I am sure there are discussions of mine that are boring too bu there may be times when others find them interesting. thanks for your response bounce

What's really annoying is when you realize you need to edit the discussion....at the exactly same second as you hit publish. I do this a lot with emails too. Or- you send a message after being a little emotional to a certain someone...and then hours later you calm down and wish to God that there's a miracle and somehow the internet angel will lose that email somewhere along the way so that the other party doesn't think you are psycho. That's always fun. There should be a way to delete emails if the respondant hasn't opened them yet.

I do the same here and I will try to hurry up and fix the mistake before it is published but I never get it in fast enough and it never changes it. I find that my responses or emails are always more sentimental or emotional in the evening time so i try not to do to much in the evening because then in the morning I think Gosh what was I talking about LOL... I agree that you should have a certain amount of time or at least until a person reads it to delete it or at least edit it right? Thanks for your response wallacb

yeah all the time. i always miss out words here and there and it's so annoying when you finally realize your mistake but you can't do anything about it. i guess it's just because they don't want you changing your discussions after you've started them because it's not the same thing as it was before.. if you get me. i don't think they should let you delete them though because why would would you start a discussion only to delete it? and if they did allow a delete but people would probably make a lot less money because a lot of the discussions might be deleted after they've been started so they can't be credited for replying to that discussion because there's no proof that that discussion ever happened.

Right that makes absolute sense about the deleting, I would probably never delete one anyhow but an edit button I would probably over use because of all of my errors. Like someone mentioned before it would get really hard to keep track of earnings with edit and delete buttons because one could easily get credit for it and then delete afterward which doesn't make any sense to me but I am sure someone people might still do it. Thanks for your response Iram

Me too I get all hurried about what I want to say in a discussion because if I take to long I completely forget and there is always those times when i get distracted or look up to watch the television for a moment and forget a word that I thought I had then after hitting submit I realize I missed that word.....I have concluded though that people still respond so they must know what I am talking about so then I don't worry as much Hehehe...Thanks =) and thanks for your response

I don't think that it would be the best idea to be able to delete complete discussions unless no one has responded on them. The reason that I feel that way is that I don't think it would be fair to other mylotters to have discussions deleted that they've taken part in. However, I do think that there should be a way that we could edit the discussions that we've started. The reason that I feel this way is that sometimes the discussions that you start are about things that are going on in your life and the situation changes and I'd love to be able to give an update in the first post just so the people would know about it. In addition to being able to correct spelling and grammatical errors.

I also wish so there's a delete button to remove discussions which I had started. I twice submitted discussion that I wrongly placed in the wrong interest category. I wished I had removed them but it can't be. I also discussed a similar topic before but long-time members of mylot told me to just pm them which I did not do.

I see quite a few discussions with the similar topics, I have responded to them and I am sure I too have started similar discussions although i try not to. I don't think it makes much of a differnce if it is in the wrong category although I know it does help...Thanks for your response levite

If at all mylot has provided those delete option besides our discusions i would have deleted some of my discussions which are not good ones. It would be better if they provide one even i do some spelling mistakes and later recognise those after i have started the discussion and i feel like oh i must have spelled that correctly. gud day.

I don't think that a delete buttin wold work as well but an edit button would all be nice and it would have to be for the spelling mistakes since we all seem to do that the most although some of us may not even know that they are misspelled. We don't purposely misspell word or at least I don;t think we do Thanks for your response sunnycool
