Ever since I was a little Girl I wanted to do this
I never got the chance, only in my imagination, which helped through a few bad times in my Life
I will lie in the darkness of my room and imagine my one desire to do 'Swimming with a Dolphin
I can see the deep blue sea, the Sun shining down on the water, where the Dolphins are
The sand soft and warm on the beach, I stand and watch the Dolphins swim, they look so beautiful,
so graceful, specially when the leap up into the Air and then back into the Water, they are so beautiful
One of the Dolphins swims over to me and nods it's head at me
I slowly move into the warm water towards the Dolphin, who then gives me the sign, to hold onto him
I get hold of him, he gently starts to swim of, I feel no fear, I feel safe, I have a phobia against pools
and sea, but not this time, I was safe, Nothing can destroy me here,I was letting the Dolphin pull me along the Sea, feel the warmth of
the Sun on me, the lovely warm water rushing over me, the Peace that surrounds me relaxes me, I have no
worries, no fears, I am free, free like the Dolphins, no one can hurt me, no one can touch me, no one can
get near me, I am surrounded by the blue sky and blue Sea rushing around me gently with the Dolphins watching
over me, swimming with them and being as free as they are, they keep Danger away from me, they keep People
away that want to hurt me, they give me strength and sanity, while we are swimming in the deep blue sea
The Dolphin then takes me back to the Beach, I don't want to go back as I will not be safe once
I get back to the beach, but I know I have to, I have to go back to reality, face the pain, the hurt and Life
I have to fight to survive and most of all I have to go back to my Babies, they need me, I know I can come
back here any time I want and find that Peace again for a little while, just enough time to gather Strength
and courage to deal with real Life. It is good to know that these beautiful Dolphins will always be here when I need them
to teach me strength, courage and to fight, no matter what hits me
And do you know this always helped me
Yes some of you might think I am silly but I don't mind, I know what helped through terifying times
Even now still, very rare now, when I get down or scared this is what will make me see there is hope
there is Peace and that my Life is now different to the one it was, the Dolphins are still there
the Sun the Beach and the Sea, but it is there now for any time I want to be not because if I have been hurt, not because I am scared,
not because I need courage, not it is there, well as a Memory and reminder, no matter what Life throws your way, you will get through it
as long as you do not give up and let it destroy you
My Life now is filled with love and care and happiness, yes I had to wait 40 years for it, but it is here
now
I might not have much money and struggle still like most People but I have something now that money
can never buy "LOVE"
So never give up Hope, hold onto your Dream, because if you give up, you give up on Life

I never really thought about dolphins much but yes they really do have a calming affect on people, here in quebec way up north we have whale watching but I never got a chance to go and see it.

"some of you might think I am silly" Yes, Gaby, some might think so, but who cares? Those people have missed out on one of the greatest experiences in life: that of being an overcomer, of overcoming evil against us.
Those of us who can identify with you - whether it was by swimming with dolphins, or flying above heads out of the reach of grasping hands, or long distance solo driving, or whatever means we used - we KNOW and UNDERSTAND and we are now thankful for the experiences that made us what we are today.
YOU are an overcomer. YOU didn't give up. YOU are victorious, and those who tried to pull you down are the losers.

Yes Cloud like you are an overcomer to and that is why you can always relate to me and have always kept me on the right track, when I let go at times
I agree with you now
those who tried to pull me down are the losers and I am just so glad that I got through it and over it or I would not have what I have today
Those Dolphins where my best Friends and always swam me through and they are still there

I know you have Joan and I to hope that one Day but even it will only ever be like this it is ok
I still visit them but not because I am sad, I smile and let them know that I will always need them we still swim in the blue Sea but there is happiness and I will not desert them as they have been with me most of my Life and got me through a lot
Big Hugssssssss

I've always wanted to swim with the dolphins, Gabs. May I swim with you next time you go 'swimming'?

What beautiful images you have created, Imagination is one world they cannot take away from us. In our mind we can conjure what images we please and imagine supreme happiness. how wonderful. No sadness, no loss, all our loved ones are there for us. Sounds like how heaven would be. 2 people like this

Hi Margery
That sounds lovely and yes it is strange there being water again, wonder if that means something
I do not need to visit the Dolphins that often any more for peace, but I do still visit them to let them know they are not forgotten and that I am so grateful for all the years they have got me through
They always look like they are smiling and always nod their head and of course I still swim with them

When i was suffering with depression, i was asked to conjure up an image which i could concentrate on when i was unhappy. My image was a graceful swan swimming downriver with the sun shining on the water ( strange ... water again) with trees and flowers in the background, all brightly coloured in the sunshine.

What a fantastic lesson in imagery and its power to calm and even heal, Gabs.
I love your vision of swimming with dolphins. My own imagery/meditation often involves water. I love swimming, and find the sounds and smells and feel of water very calming when needed, or invigorating, when that is what is needed.

What a beautiful dream you have Gaby, I was entranced when reading it, and I could imagine everything you felt with the dolphins. They truly are amazing!
I have lived your dream and mine - here in Australia, I swam with some dolphins a couple of years ago - wild ones!
We were on holiday in a little coastal village called Tin Can Bay, where the wild dolphins come into the bay every morning about 8.30 - regular as clockwork! This has been a regular occurrence there for over 20 years. It started when an injured dolphin was discovered in the bay and a local nursed it back to health. It was a female, and she kept coming back to the same spot where she had been helped. One year she appeared with her baby, then the next year the same. Now those babies have had babies and they still come into the bay!
When I was in the water with them, I was crying tears of joy, I was so moved by their presence and their gentleness and the way they just love human intraction.
The experience is one I will never forget.
Whether our dreams become a reality or not, we should always hold onto them.

Oh wow Abbey I wish I could have been with you
I bet the experience will be with you for ever
That is just so wonderful and something to remember for Life, when I see them on TV they always amaze me and I can't take my eyes from them
As a Child I used to watch Flipper, I really loved it

oh mygabs thats so beautiful and it really it really did help you too. its a lovely thing to have and to go back to if you need to. Dolphins are the most graceful large animal I know of and they seem so very intelligent too. I am glad your life is so good now and full with love and happiness. Mine is a meadow and a stream and pine trees all around. maybe I should go to mine own more often. right now the holidays seem to tear at me as I listen to everyone with all their families a nd so much joy and look around me at almost complete strangers even after a year here. my life lines are my son's visits and my friend nelda's visits as they connect me with a life that i loved so much. Hope is all I seem to have now days. I imagine the holidays are hard for a lot of people too. thanksgiving for me is a reminder that we lost a child we loved on thanksgiving day. this cannot be helped even though it was many years ago.also memories of happier days back before the whole world caved in on me but you cannot really live in the past.

No Hatley you can not live in the past but it will always hurt as you lost a very precious person, your little baby Girl and to this Day from when you first told me I hurt for you I admire you that you have overcome it to as that must be so hard when something like that happens it will stay in your Memory for ever and it will hurt for ever, it is not living in the past , it is a part of you, a drastic part that can never be erased and will always hurt no matter how many years go by
Big Hugs to you

That imagary is so very beautiful. I've seen that my imagination has always been something that has helped me through the difficult times in my life. As far as the beautiful picture that you've painted. You've almost made it to where my desire to swim with the dolphins at some point in my life will not live up to be what I have always expected it to be. However, for me, that is just a pipedream that I would like to see come true in my life, but I don't know that it ever will.

I think all of have something like this to help us get through the rough unhappy times of our lives for me it is my old world life. Western life per-say. I go into a world where there is country to live in and farm support yourself on and live without crime and fear much as you do with the dolphins. Sorry to here it took 40 years for you to find the good in life but now you have was it worth all the unhappy times? Will you learn from them or have you? How much of this world do we really need now days to be happy? know I want to be out somewhere where it takes days to the nearest people. I know sounds weird but it is so peaceful being out in nature providing for one's own. I watched the wilderness family movie the other day and man I wish I could do that now. Maybe one day I will see this wilderness dream come true or maybe the Aliens will give me a space ship of my own to explore space. One can dream. Thanks for sharing this idea for happiness with us.

Hello Birdlady
The thing I learned is if you do not give up and fight eventually you will have peace
There is no more physical or mental Pain
The Confidence is back and there is someone that loves me truly loves me
I hope you will live your Dream one Day as it sounds you have your mind set on it so I hope that one Day it will come true
