I got a brochure in the mail. It came to my apartment's address. Inside of this brochure was coupons. It specified that I could receive $10.00 in free groceries, if I make a purchase of $25.00 or more in groceries. Well, I did bought food items that equaled over $25.00. One of my purchases was $29.00 and the second one was $91.00. So, I was short on funds and I was thinking where can I get some extra money from. And it came to my realization, that I could use the coupons that were sent to me in the mail. And I did. I took them to Food Lion and I bought three items. It can to be over $8.00. And guess what????? I did not spend my entire $10.00. So, therefore I had money left over. And the cashier gave me cash back! I was so shocked! I had no idea that I would be getting cash back. I thought that I had to spend the entire $10.00 or at least most of it. But, I didn't. Whatever I had left went straight into my pocket. My son saw the money and he was so excited, he was like Mom, you have dollars! I guess they treat coupons like real money. Which I already know. I just wasn't expecting to get cash back. I think that this was a wonderful idea. At this moment, I have one more of these coupons in my wallet. I plan to use this last one before December 1st. This is the day that it expires. This coupon too, is worth $10.00 in free groceries! Have you ever received an discount as this before? Please share your experiences. Thank you.

Yes, me neither! I never heard of getting cask back. I was very surprised. I thought that the cashier made a mistake. But once that cash register is opened then there is no mistake of getting money back! I hope that I can get more offers in the mail. Continue to use those coupons so that you cab save too!

Hi, cutepenguin. I am happy for you! Getting free coupons is a great feeling because you can save money. I love getting the free coupons via mail. I love surprises. I remember one time, I had a free coupon that was sent in the mail. They sent it to my husband, it was for a free Oust Outlet that came with the refill. I went to Piggly Wiggly and all I had to pay was just 10 cents. The cashier was telling me that she wished that she could stumble onto something this great. She was amazed. I love getting free coupons!

hi cream you really did luck out. I used to shop at vons and belonged to the vons club which gives you large discounts on a lot of items. I once had one hundred dollars to spend for the holiday food shopping but with the discounts on all the ordinary traditional foods I only spent thirty five dollars and had a big cart full of stuff so had money for my christmas shopping also. I now am in a retirement center so messing not being able buy and cook my own food.

Hi, hatley. I am sorry to hear that. I know how you must feel when you are unable to cook your own food. It was like this at my in-laws house. I could only buy microwave meals and cold meals. I hardly cooked on their stove. Out of four months of living there, I cooked on the stove about 6 to 7 times. After that I stopped cooking.. I was tired of eating all those dinners that had to be heated up. I wanted something cooked from the stove. I know that at your retirement home, at least you can eat food that is cooked from the stove. You just are unable to eat something that you haven't cooked yourself. Hopefully one day you can prepare your own meal the way that you like it.

I signed up for a savings card at Food City and they do dend me some great coupons sometimes. I couple of years ago they had a sale in which for every $10 you spent on certain products...changing each week..you got a $1 gas coupon. Talk about cashing in on a few free tanks of gas. It was awesome! I spend alot on groceries so I had a lot of those gas bucks..lol
