Knitting my Fingers to the Bone!

I think I bit off more than I can chew! Or should I say, knit! I decided to make mittens for my grandchildren. Well I have 7 pair to make. I have nearly 3 pair done. But, I now realize that they won't be completed before Christmas. But, at least they will have them the soon. Not only do I have to knit, but I have to whip up my yearly goodies. Cookies, fudge, caramel popcorn, and doughnuts. ~Sigh~ I am tired, but it is truly a delight to make these goodies and give them away to my family, friends, and clients. Well.....off to finish that 3rd pair of mittens and on to the next set. Happy crafting all!

I admire people like you! I am not clever like that and I sure wish I was! I can’t knit and baking, well, the least said about that the better! It is so nice to make gifts for loved ones yourself. Me, well I bought everything and it is all in gift bags sitting under the tree ready for Christmas day. I may try some crafty things during the year; with enough practice I may just manage to make something for next Christmas!

I feel your pain... . I know exactly what you mean. 3 or 4 years ago, I decided I would knit all of my sister-in-laws a scarf for the holidays. I spent my lunch hour at work, just sitting there knitting. All the other girls began doing the same...we were a little clique of knitters. But I digress... So, from knitting my 4 SIL a scarf, my two sisters also wanted one for a present, and then my mother-in-law, and her sister...her sister's daughter, my boss, my sister needed three for co-workers..... you see where this is going, right? I ended up knitting almost 30 scarves that Christmas. I was knitting during my lunch break, sitting on the couch at night watching TV... I was even knitting in the car if the ride took more than 30 minutes. I was a knitting fool and vowed that I would never, ever do that again. And that's why I now make handmade jewelry There's nothing like a handmade scarf, mittens or hat...or handmade anything for that matter and it did feel great to hear people come up during the winter telling me how many compliments they received, how warm the scarf was, or how it was one of their favorite gifts of the holidays. But with all the scarves I had to knit, I felt forced to spend time to complete each scarf on time...and that wasn't fun. I still sit and knit from time to time, but it's now by choice and when I decide to knit, it's enjoyable again. Happy crafting and Happy Holidays to all!

I suppose you'll be quite busy this week until after Christmas, maybe even after the new year. Hope your grandkids get the mittens before New Years so they can possibly wear them this year! Have fun, and don't forget to take a break!

Hey, knitting like mad is what I am doing too. I made wristwarmers for a lot of people, and now i am working on specific projects that people requested. I don't think I will be done in time.

And many people prefer homemade goodies. You are more productive that my daughter and I. She is baking lots of shortbread cookies, in Christmas shapes. Shje will wrap them up in cellapane, tie with a pretty ribbon and give them away as gifts. I gave up on knitting two years agho when my almost finished jumper was stolen from my car.

WOW! I am so very impressed. I am not as industrious as you! I have been busy making some candies for Christmas but that is about it. Sadly I never learned to knit. I would love to learn though. Years ago I did cross stitch, but it is so hard on my eyes now that I no longer try. Those mittens will be so very special..handmade from grandma...how nice!

That is the sort of thing that I do start a project with too little time and not be able to complete it in time. I have recently taken up my cross stitch again, and I am already planning gifts for next christmas! I am making sure that I have plenty of time to get them done!

You are a Saint. I could not do that. I'm panicking as I still have four gifts to buy and limited money to spend on each. Don't wear yourself out and not be able to enjoy the family time.. Blessings

I stressed myself out so much last Christmas crocheting gifts that this year I did not make one gift plus I bought 99% of my gifts online. So this year has been really nice for me so far.

IT's a really nice thing you can do to spread some holiday cheer to all your family and friends. I am not a really good knitter myself. But as long as you don't mind doing all that stuff then all the power to you.
