with this last year claiming two of my cats (one was still at my parents house but i grew up with him) it made me really think about the pets i have now.. they are all mixed and one defintely is unique in having gorgeous blue eyes (half siamese and god knows what) that arent typical in any other cat.. but then i start to think that if i did do that (like i really have the money lol.. but i can dream) what would i do with it? i would also be scared a different pet would think its a toy and destroy it and i think that would be worse than the initial shock of the passing!! i think i will stick with burying them but i am just curious on if anyone has done this and where do you keep them afterwards? does it help with the grieving? i think it would make me sadder

i hardly have a pet and the answer is no... i don't think i will ever have the heart to stuff a pet... it will be too scary for me and it will make the grieving process even harder for me... giving the pet proper burial will be the thing that i will do if my pet passed away... take care and have a nice day...

The idea of stuffing a beloved pet scares me. Taxidermy scares me. The idea that the animal stuffed was once living and now is nothing more than a decoration...it saddens me and also freaks me out. I could never do it and if you did i would stop coming over...lol

Stuffing a pet sounds too morbid to me,like it was a Hunting Trophy...But on that subject,Now You've got Me wondering, what was with the stuffed dog and other Animals that featured regularly in "Scrubs"? I'm trying to think did they actually get 2 near identical dogs for one show where the first one had been got rid of,and they wanted to replace it without anyone being the wiser,or was it the same stuffed dog playing his own double?!

They've described this show as being like "ER",only with shorter episodes, and with more laughs...A hospital Sitcom,it centres around the Character "JD",his Friends and Colleagues, and season 1 started with him on his first day and has continued on (I checked..it's on season 9 currently, but cast changes have changed some of the lineup ) His Best Friend Chris became a Surgeon in the same Place, and they share a bachelor Pad at first, until relationships come along, but somewhere along the line they buy this Stuffed Dog they name "Rowdy". here's a link! http://scrubs.wikia.com/wiki/Rowdy

moonlitmagikchild hi oh my goodness no I would hate that as when I had cats they were part of our family. that would be'like stuffing my hubby after he passed away. I wou ld be in tears all the time looking at him, and not being able to ever talk to him again or make love, or laugh at his goofy jokes. that would be just plain horrible. no stuffed pets for me. How would you keep them? would be like a museum piece. oh lord no that would be worse than burying them. NOt for me, it would have me in tears all the time.

I wouldn't, but my pet at the moment is a 600 kilo heavy horse ;-) I have a few friends that have had their pets cremated and have kept their urns, but with a horse, that's not really an option either.

what do you do with them then? i dont mean to be morbid or make you think about it and get upset but if you said they are too big to cremate then... i dont see some one being able to dig a huge hole..

You either take them to the slaughter house or call the emergency slaughter car if there's a crisis. Then they're either turned into food or glue. I think the same happens to cattle.

I love my cats, but I really couldnt stuff a deceased pet. It just doesnt appeal to me. Photos, yes.. a memorable book is good; but not a stuffed version of my beloved pet (especially my cats). We bury them in the back yard usually, and my daughter makes a cross. My cats are very pretty, in fact one of them is a long haired dark tortie and the colours are most unusual.

i never have a yard to bury them so they end up at my moms or my mil.. its killing me that one of my favorite pets is at my mil compared i dont get along with her so i can never visit the grave

That just sound freaky to me, I would never stuff a pet. I plan on having my kitties cremated (I have no place to bury them since I live in a condo) and perhaps keeping their ashes in a Urn. I think we something to visit rather it be a urn or a gravesite for our cats, I think that helps with the grieving.

i dont really ever return to their graves though which makes me feel bad.. i would like to cremate but dont know where/who does it and well when you just lost your pet i cant think straight to even realize that i wanted that and etc and then end up burying them

I couldn't imagine having any of my pets (past or present) stuffed. I find the idea kind of morbid. Not only that, but I think it would just make me sadder too. I'd much rather remember the memories that I had with them and look over any of the photos of them from the past. Happy mylotting!

First of all, I'm so sorry to read that you lost 2 of your cats last year. We lost 2 of our cats in 2008 and I know how painful that can be. I don't think I would ever stuff a pet because it would just make me more sad to see the pet there with no life inside. I'd rather remember them through pictures and recalling the funny things they did throughout their lives.

Stuff them? No, now does feeding them too much count as stuffing them?

I think it would be okay but I personally wouldn't do it. Too much of remembering good things.
