Pizza Discussion Category!  |

|  Hello All! It's been awhile since I've created a discussion in this topic, but I hadn't had anything to rant or rave about. Well today I do, I clicked on the pizza topic as it scrolled across my screen to find that most all of the discussions are the same. Of course, I know this can also be said about the ice cream category, and most likely many more.
However, I realize that when a person goes to "create a new discussion" they do not see what discussions are already created, that is why we have the search feature. The search feature allows us to search so that we can find discussions on things we want to discuss.
Well The Pizza Topic is full of favorite toppings, weirdest toppings, and favorite pizza places. I've responded to many of these, but I'm wondering does not one who has said interest see these topics repetitively regardless of whether they respond or not? I guess what I'm saying is most likely you have a topic already before you start a discussion about it, if you don't you look for said topic as an interest and add it, so either way your going to see atleat the first page of the discussion category.
WHY with many ways of seeing what is in a topic, do people insist on such Repetitive discussions?
Always wanting to reveal newer and newer "repetitive discussions"...

| |  Hi SomeCowgirl. Actually, the title of your discussion is misleading. When I read it, I was surprised that it wasn't about pizza really. Maybe that's why I most likely will be the first one here to respond, even though this discussion has been online for more than 13 hours.
I think most of the repetitive discussions have been started by newbies. I may have been guilty of it myself when I was a newbie, or when I have a discussion in mind just bursting out, and I post it hastily without even checking previous responses.

| |  There are certain interests that I try to avoid, because the repeat discussions are overwhelming. It seems that since myLot has put a visible Admin presence on the site there is much less repeat discussions or discussions that violate the guidelines, and the ones that are posted seem to disappear a lot quicker. Unfortunately, it will take some time for the site to really get "cleaned-up", and we, as users, still need to help myLot by reporting discussions and responses that violate guidelines or TOS, especially the more blatant and serious violations.

I actually started the category to gain attention to said repeats, so this discussions, while in sorts is a repeat, it is a repeat to conquer the repeats...

| |  I was on the site for a while before I read that one should always check on search before starting a discussion to make sure it hasn't already been discussed. I've wondered about asking a similar question if I see one that was discussed two or more years ago. I think that most repetitive discussions are started by those who don't know about using the search tool or those who just don't want to take the time to check.

| | I will say that the search engine is not exactly the best tool sometimes, I know I've heard people say they search for something and it doesn't come up and then they post a discussion and something very similar comes up on similar discussions.
