In the Easter Basket  

It's many years since I had to think about getting sweets and chocolate for Easter but at my son's school we used to make up a little easter basket for the children. These usually held a small chocolate easter egg, a fluffy little easter chick and a pack of colouring pencils

Honestly I don't plan on doing too much w/ the baskets. I want to get my oldest a razor scooter as it's silly to buy one for Christmas and then let it sit for several months in the basement or shed unable to use KWIM? But I don't know if I'll have the money for that. Otherwise so far we bought some kites from the dollar store thus far. Usually my Aunt (Great Auntie whom also has no kids) will make up baskets for them and the in-laws will. So we'll probably dye eggs and have an egg hunt in our yard and then head off to the in-laws and just get stuff after the holiday perhaps... we'll just have to see how money is and right now it's pretty tight... I wish it wasn't.

hi doranmwin oh my I did not realize Easter is that close wow. Well I am now out of the loop for years. but I do remember getting the Easter baskets for my two little kids many years back. Then it was heavily into Chocolate Eggs and other candies, and real Easter Eggs too because at the time we had not yet began to realize that most kids got way too much sweet stuff and far too little things that were much better for them.But at least the real Easter Eggs were better for them than all the candy they usually got. Now we all have a better handle on good nutrition thank heaven for that. wow my only living child will be 51 this coming June, its hard to believe. we lost our daughter when she was eight, which took a long time for me to get over but now its just bittersweet, she would be fifty now.

I bought the traditional stuff, a couple of chocolate bunnies, some chocolate eggs, some jelly beans, etc. I figure that I only buy chocolate a few times a year so I let my daughter enjoy it.

I haven't do anything. A lot of times I wait until the last minute to do so. I always try to reduce to put so many candy in it. I try to get the basket that has activities toys in it. And I'm not sure what I'm going to put in there this year. They bigger now, I don't think I'm going to put too many toys in it.

I do wait until the last minute to get my stuff together, but this year I am not going to do very much candy at all. I will probably get the dvd Princess and the frog and a few other things for my 5 year old daughter, but my 19 month old son still not sure. He does love Thomas the train so I might get him something to do with that.

I haven't started to think about the Easter basket yet. My little one will be 5 in 2 days so right now i have been worried with that. But I will make him an Eastrer asket in a few days.I also will not put a lot of candy in it, just a piece or two.he loves stuffed animals, so I will put an stuffed rabbit in there.Also some Hot Wheels cars, stickers, coloring books, crayons, etc.Since his birthday is so close he doesn't need to much.Hell go egg hunting where he will get a basket also so thats plent.bv

I haven't started yet. Next week the children will be at their grandmother's, so I will be able to sneak some things into the house. Usually it's candy and one other thing (toy, game, stuffed animal)...

I was thinking about the same thing - going easy on the candy this year! Also we've been thinking about going easy on the little gift basket period . . . and turning it around so that my daughter would do more of the giving. We got these fancy treat bags that have chicks (her favorite) on it and we plan to bake some little treats (something else my daughter loves to help with) for each of the family members.

Otherwise, for my daughter, I'll probably fill plastic eggs with tiny toys so she can hunt for them on Easter morning. Believe me, she would just LOVE the plastic eggs . . . she has this big desire to lay eggs and hatch them . . . so I'm not kidding when I say she's just fine with getting eggs! I'll probably get my son a new baby toy. Oh - even though I said going easy on the candy - I already bought some malted chocolate "eggs" from Trader Joes (on my daughter's favorite egg theme).

My daughter's Easter present will be spent in Orlando for her performance. It was either letting her perform or getting the traditional going to park for the hunt. She not into the baskets. She is not sweet eater. She chose the park. I like giving them options so they do feel like they missed out. I personally would of like the hunt because it costs much less. Have a good holiday and I hope the children enjoy their goodies. They grow up so fast and then again so do I , lol.
