have you ever been pet sitting and the pet died?

My sister is out of town and I am in charge of feeding her cats and her goldfish. My son and I were over there earlier today and we discovered that the goldfish had died. He was halfway in his little log at the bottom of the tank almost like he had gotten stuck. Of course I feel bad that one of her pets died while I was in charge of them, but at the same time I am really glad it was not one of the cats.
Have you ever had a pet get hurt or die while you are pet sitting? Was the person you were pet sitting for mad at you over it or did they realize it was not any fault of your own? Or maybe it was?

What a bummer.. but like you said, it was just a fish and thankfully not one of the cats. Hopefully she will understand and not be upset at all.
I don't recall every having any misfortunes while pet sitting.. though I haven't frequently done any pet sitting. Last time was a number of years ago my neighbor would ask me to check in on his cats while he was away for a few days, and it was uneventful.

No that's never happened to me but now I'm scared. I'm house sitting my friend's house next week while she is on her honeymoon. She has an 8 month old Husky and it's still very, very hot here. Oh no!

That's a terrible situation to get into. Of course even if the owner won't blame it on you, there's still a bit of guilt feeling because of what happened. I haven't been in that scenario.
