Of all the things to steal! Have you ever thought that?

My husband was at his cousins' house. The neighbor came over upset. He had been taking the snow off his roof (the snow here is a foot deep and there have been several barn, garage, and even home cave ins). He became hungry, so he went in for lunch and to go to the bathroom. He came back and someone had stolen his roof rake (item used to take snow off roof whereby you can stand at an angle and knock it down without getting hurt or burried). What's really maddening is that most people, including this man, in our area would loan you their roof rake after they finished. No one wants to see anyone's home, barn, or garage fall in. So of all the stupid things to steal, something that a caring neighbor would loan you anyway. So whoever stole it doesn't care about that person's home that he stole it from? Have you every thought, "Of all the things to steal?!"?

Wow!! Sometimes it is unreal what a person might consider stealing these days. When the person could have probably knocked on the door and asked to borrow it instead. Personally stealing things like this is unreal and never really benefits the person doing something like this as well. Hopefully something Good comes back to the neighbor who had the item stolen.

He borrowed the roof rake of my husband's cousins and promised to bring it back, not leave it out, even to go to the bathroom. Anything metal is being stolen now. The cost of metal is so high that recycling metal, people think is worth the risk. So I'm warning people, don't leave anything outdoors even for a second, esp. if it's metal. They're getting electrocuted trying to steal copper wire here and they're stealing catalytic converters.

People will steal anything. I think that sometimes they do it just to be doing it. I mean...would you need a rake bad enough to steal the darn thing? Last year my neighbor left a weedeater in the back of his little truck long enough to go in and get a glass of water. He come out and ot was gone! No one saw a thing either! Crazy!

Maybe whoever stole it needed to clean his or her own roof? People will steal anything, won't they?

Like I said, they could borrow it and give it back. Most likely, though, they're selling it for the metal or to someone else who needs a roof rake. All the roof rakes are sold out of the stores and they will not be reordering. Hopefully the wink meant the rest of what I wrote.

It could not possibly mean he wanted to start a home business cleaning roofs could it? Not likely, I guess.

Probably will take it apart and resell if for metal scrap. Lots of that going on around here, stealing metal in all its forms.

Oh that poor man!! I've never had a chance to have a thought like 'Of all the things to steal?' but it does come to me right now. But if the neighbours are nice, he can probably borrow one of theirs for his use. Just hope the person who stole this man's roof rake is not going around stealing the roof rakes of other people too.

I think that's why he went to my husband's cousins, to borrow theirs to finish the job. My husband said all the stores are sold out of roof rakes, so the person probably resold it or brought it for scrap metal to sell. To me, it shows a serious lack of caring about the neighbor's house to steal like that.

I have not thought about it, mainly because I do not run into too many thefts locally. I did see on the news where someone stole someone else's snow shovel this year. It is a shame that people are so self centered and unscrupulous.

There again, most people would loan you theirs after they were done with it. Up here, there are lots of thieves and it's going to get worse. They're shortening sentences and letting all but the worst criminals out of prison early. They're closing prisons and putting people on forced volunteer stints, counseling, etc. alternatives to prison programs are all over. If they work, great, but judging by the amount of theft here and VT... .

I remember watching a customer pocket the vinegar bottle from a chip shop once. It was nasty, greasy, and could probably have been bought for less than the price of a portion of chips.

Yeah, makes you wonder what the person was thinking. That person needs the vinegar bottle more than the next people in line? Didn't anyone whipe the thing off periodically?

LOL well I thought when I started reading this that some crabby old guy was going to say that someone stole his snow when they really just helped clear the roof off. Now I realize that wasent the case it was that someone stole the roof rake. That is awful that someone did that. I guess someone was to cheap to go out and buy there own how rude.
