friends here mentioned they missed my gardening discussions. So I thought I'd update everyone on my progress. Or lack thereof. HAHA! It's been snowing up to a couple days ago and been really cold so as this photo shows there's been nothing done as far as my gardens this year. I did manage to weed and clean out some flower beds though is it. Have you atarted your garden yet?

I have a small plot so I made raised beds last year. I had a nice crop of tomatos, some potatos and I planted a few raspberry shrubs. This year I´ll spread the raspberrys with cuttings.
It´s Autumn in my country but I´ll try to have some lettuce, chard and maybe start some bunch onions. Our Winters are not so cold so I´ll just make a plastic cover so they have the light but not the frost. No snow here.

I know we'll have sweet corn, peppers, tomatoes, green beans, cucumbers and pickles which I planed earlier today. No idea what else at this time though.

I am doing a lot of raised bed and containers. I think I may end up putting berries or something permanent where last year's gardens were. I read a different method for tomatoes, and bought three plants. I put them around a wire cage and we will fill the cage with compost and grass clippings to put more nutrients in the soil I got a couple of Early Girl or something that is short season, and then one heirloom variety called Cherokee Purple. I have little seedlings of Beefsteak, I think. Old seeds that I planted and some came up. I have a good stand of peas, but they are not blooming. I have another container where I have planted Purple Majesty Potatoes. Just to see what they do. I have tulips and iris and some daffodils blooming. Of course Stars of Bethlehem as well.

Neither the blueberries or rhubarb did a thing. I know where I would like to put rhubarb and I will try it again next year with better quality stock. I want more Cherokee Purple tomatoes, they were delicious.

We have had so much rain, that I just put my pots outside that have my starter seeds in them and I hope they start popping up soon. I am doing cucumbers, peppers, and green beans this year, and I hope I can find a place to plant them..lol

Hi, I haven't done much gardening either, however I have planted some flower plants, a few tomato plants and some pepper plants and they are doing good. I tried to start some seedlings I started them too late and they aren't doing good at all. Are you going to do any more gardening when the weather breaks in there?

Hi Grandpa Bob
Wow looks like you did a lot of work there. It is all so clean and clear, so it will be no time before you get the gardening looking nicely.
As for me *sad*, am in an apartment and do not have a garden where I can plant anything. I will try something indoors though because I have been getting tips and pointers from other fellow myLotters who have been guiding me a bit.
Do share the entire process with us because I find it to be so much fun. Hope all is well with your parents. How do you manage all that clean up with so much going on. So inspiring really which makes me want to do more.

Nope, it's very weedy and the dirt needs turning. I've done nothing in this area since the fall last year. HAHAHA! But earlier today I did do a small garden bed and planted 4 mounds of my pickles for canning this fall.

I hope you get to start your garden soon. The weather has been so weird this year. We got ours tilled but it has rained for two weeks straight since then. We are just now going to be getting started tilling it again. I did plant some green onions in a pot out on my deck though.

I've been doing a bit here and there every (nice) day, including putting up a new arbor to replace the one that gave up the ghost last year. The front yard is looking fairly well. The back yard is another matter, though I've done some work on it, too. I'll have a lot of debris to pick up after yesterday's windstorm, when I get to it.

I have not started anything yet and may not. This is not a good year for me, I lost my mother in February and I just don't have any ambition just yet. Maybe when it gets warmer I'll be more inclined to plant some stuff. I don't even want to plant vegetables this year. It's been cold, it's only 45° today and very unlike Spring.
