I'll have to admit living with son is a bit fun sometimes. He can get so funny. we got another call from a telemarketer earlier today. even though we are on a do not call list
He decided he'd try leaving an out going message saying "If this is a sales call or a bill collector, Kiss my a$$, If its family or friends I apologise, but you know how it feels, if you dont then kiss my a$$!" he cracked up and had me cracking up. may not sound funny here but i guess you had to be there. anyway, you would have cracked up seeing him trying to put it on the machine. ours says, "we are not available right now. please leave a message"
and he couldnt get it to change. One day he was talking into the phone to one of those automated things and he kept repeating something and it kept getting it wrong. Finally, he got mad and cussed it out and it said "im sorry, i did not understand that" which cracked him up so bad he was rid of his anger and just gave up. dont you just hate these automated things? especially when you keep repeating something and they dont understand it. ?

When I first using wireless phones I would get an automated and system and for some reason it would take what I said. I don't know why. I would say exactly what it ask me to or what I needed to and it wouldn't acknowledge it, just kept repeating itself. I would get so exasperated with it!

oh i know. sometimes it seems to think we have some wrong accent or something. makes me wonder if those things arent tuned to overseas accents or something.

A girl that I used to work with loved to give telemarketers a rise. She would sit there for however long it took to get through their speil. When they were done, she would say, "I'm really interested in your service, but I don't have a credit card. Do you take food stamps?" I absolutely loved hearing her tell that story. It wasn't just because of the fact that the story was funny, her accent added a lot to it as well.

Most irritating thing on phone is when the other side keeps telling you the your call is important to us, kindly stay online" now who the hell came up with that one, if it is so important then please get rid of this voice and get a living breathing person who can talk to me intelligently. Thing is when you finally get past this annoying voice, and rant out your trouble to the other side he will start over, may I know your name please, what is your phone number and so on and so forth you feel like screaming dude please come to the point and tell em if you can correct this thing or not... and finally the last straw , we have registered your complaint and our technician will call you very soon. You want to cuss that tele caller so bad... its a pin in a$$ really.

I have felt like doing bodily harm to some of those recorded voices. In particular the Telstra one which asks questions which have to be answered. Now I speak quite well due to the fact that I went to a posh school that had elocution classes. I have a good voice and I speak clearly but this ruddy machine could never understand me so I don't know how others not so well spoken got along. Besides, most of the time I ring these companies I need to speak to an operator anyway.

That is funny bunnybon! I can see that happening now! Hubby and I have an answering machine and trying to record our voices on it is a challenge to say the least. I'm the one who ends up recording a message and it takes a few tries because my voice sounds so high pitched and I hate it so I try to talk in a lower sounding voice which sounds better but yet, it's not me still so I go medioker and I'm as satisfied as I'm gonna be. Oh, I know exactly what you are talking about!!
I hate telemarketers. I call them tele-home-invaders, because they're not much different from the punks who bash in your door and rob you. They are just using the telephone and want to rob you!
And I hate those robo-helpers when you call someplace like your bank. One think that always works for me is to raise my voice and say "give me a damned person!!". Now, you have to raise your voice for this to work and use those exact words because that combination seems to confuse it and it will tell you to please hold while it connects you to someone that can help. I like to think I hurt its feelings but I know it's not true. Still, it's some little satisfaction and gets me a human being fast!

Oh, I do hate to talk on the phone except to family. It probably was funny to see him trying to get the machine to co operate. Off topic, but I also hate the self check machines that talk to you. "Please place the item in the bagging area" etc. I know I am a sight, as I get frustrated and keep talking to the machine. Why do we talk to machines?

yes its terrible that we have to talk to machines to get anything done these days. thats why most of what we need done seldom gets done on time.

bunnybon mylot keeps wiping out what I type as fast as i type it grrrrrrrrrrrr.I had an experienced the same thing an automated voice
before I could get ohone customer service. she wanted my old phone number and I gave it to her and she would go I am sorry but I do not understand that. five times then she said I am having to turn you
over to a customer service representative and I yelled out loud oh
hurrah hurrah. a real live person.the automated thing went "I did not understand that" and I yelled "who cares." a very kind middle aged woman said, "I am sorry I did not get that. how can I help you"and I told her that had been for the automated voice and she laughed. then she helped me.but when the phone repairman got here he opened the phone jack and it was soaking wet. so he refu ed to do it til I forked over 125 dollars which I do not have so to sum it up our handiman here is going to do it but I am wondering when he is going to do it. lol lol I can
understand he like so many were off on this holiday long weekend but I expected him to show up today and he has not done so yet.

Oh, I hate those automated things! I have had times that I repeated the spelling of my name many times and they still didn't get it right! I usually just hit 0 and if that doesn't put me through to a live person, I just mumble something for a while. Sometimes, that is all it takes to get to a live person. If after two or three tries, I will just hang up and try to do my business in another way (either online or in person). Those automated things are the worst things ever created!!! As far as your son's message, it is amusing even if it is pg-13. Have a great day!!!

They can be annoying too sometimes!
I guess some 'genius' figured out sometime ago that it would be great to have automated responses to customer service telephone lines. In reality, I think there are more people pissed for these automated voices not understanding what the call is. Which defeats the purpose of 'customer service'.

I do not like recordings at all they drive me nuts. lol I am such a chatterbox but don't get me to record something because I become speechless. Gosh that had to be really funny, bunny, because I remember trying to record mine and every other word I would botch it up and laugh each time I started over. Usually takes me one hour to get it right and then still not completely happy with it.
lol, glad you and he had a good laugh.

I know what you mean. I can't stand those automated phone calls either. I screw with them sometimes when I am in the mood. The one thing that I do hate about those calls is that they always call when I am eating diner. I am also on a don't call list but that does not seem to matter. I basically mute my phone when we're eating.

sad thing is, i try not to get to bent out of shape because my daughter used to do that for a living but it seems like you said, the dont call list should work and it doesnt.
