How do you relieve a clogged nose?

I have had clogged nose since yesterday. It started with my allergy attack yesterday, I kept on sneezing and it wasn't just normal sneezing, it was hard sneezing like my insides will come out of my nose. And then I think I got some of my mother's cold virus although I don't have colds or cough yet, I hope I won't go into that. But my clogged nose is really annoying. The allergy attacks were already gone since last night but it left me with this. I use a sanitary balm with camphor and menthol to relieve it but once the effect of the balm wears out, I'm back with struggling to breath through my nose. .

I use a thing called the Neil Meds system where it flushes out your sinus cavities....I also use what they call Vicks...that is a balm also with menthol in it...That also works.

Neil Meds system. I am curious about this. I have been suffering from sinusitis since a very young age. It has caused me so much trouble and I have been through quite a lot in order to find a cure. And, this by far, I have never encountered anyone talking about the Neil Meds system. Lately though, a good mix of fruit juices has been giving me so much of a relief. The aching head, the clogged nose and the unbearable pain in the eyes have been lightened so dramatically.

try drinking lots of waters for the day it may help dissolve the stickiness and will commonly be taken out from your body, try to inhale steam from hot water, it may also help reduce the mucus in your nose.

I think the camphor and menthol is the best way for temporary results. It might help if you can increase the humidity in your home. Also, drink more fluids, like as much water as you can, and drink hot tea. Take Vitamin C - it's a natural antihistamine and might help your body to quit producing too much mucous. None of these things are guaranteed, but if you do all of them, you've got a pretty good chance of having your nose clear up.

what we do at home is we buy oil of eucalyptus and put it in a pot of boiling water. inhale the smoke and it will help your nose to loosen up a little. it gives a very nice feeling at the chest as well. we also put vapor rub at our feet specially at our talampakan and put socks. we do that before going to sleep. it does help and during a cold after doing this we wake up felling a little better. hope this tips can help you. have a nize sneezing day har har har

I drink a lot of fluids (I think this is the only time I drink a lot of water. Lol!) and inhale "White Flower". Lol! It's really effective. Sometimes I eat really strong mint candies XD

I use one of those Netti Pot things with a gentle salt rinse in it. A few years ago you couldn't have convinced me to try one (ewwww) but, I had a migraine one time (from the nasal swelling) and was desperate for relief. I was amazed at how much it helped reduce the swelling. I have a lot of allergies too, mostly in the spring and fall when the weather's changing, and the pollen's in the air. As soon as I start having symptoms, I drag out the Netti Pot and do that once or twice a day. I think it helps a whole lot, and I'm sold on the fact that not only does it remove the pollens that cause my swelling and difficulty breathing, but if I do it at the first sign of a cold, it takes most of the germs and mucus away too and the cold doesn't last as long.

Is the balm you're using called "Vicks vaporub"? Cos that's the balm I use when I get a blocked nose. It really does help clear the airways. They have it in a lozenge form now too. But it's not available in some countries it seems. If I don't have either the sweet or the balm then I use their inhaler.

Give yourself a good massage. You can do it yourself. Just simply use baby oil for this purpose. Wet your fingertips with baby oil. Work your fingers through your hair and scalp. Find those points where it feels there is some degree of pain when touched. Massage those points lightly. The pain will slowly subside. After having worked on those painful points, massage the scalp area generally. Now proceed to the neck area. This time, you may use other types of liniments other than baby oil. Massage the neck area gently. You will find that there are some points which feel painful. Apply some liniment. Never massage the nape. Just brush your nape with your palm, do it gently. Those points which are painful, massage them gently one after the other. After having done so, you might feel sleepy or hungry. Do what the dictate of your body is. Sleep if sleepy, eat if hungry. Now proceed to the shoulder blades and a little lower from there at the upper back area. There is always considerable pain around there. Massage it with some liniment or baby oil. This time, you may use some pressure to relieve yourself of the pains. And, it might take you a little longer doing some massages in this area. Take warm fruit juices with ginger (salabat) juice. I usually mix calamansi/lemon, pineapple and grape juices to my brewed ginger with onion bulb. That is why i found that taking warm juices relieves clogged nose dramatically. You may add sugar to taste and a dash of salt if you want to.

Poor baby! I think I am allergic to menthol, so that doesn't help me, but I do take astragalus capsules all "winter" long to help prevent the stuffies etc. I also take a lot of vitamin C and a little zinc if there is stuff going around. STAY WELL!

I will use my mouth to breathe, when i'm alone.. hehe ^^ My usual ways of clearing them will be going for a run. With my heavy breathing, it's easier to clear my nose but it's very taxing on my lungs and heart I can't think of another better way, especially when i'm awake most of the time, so i have to breathe properly. When it comes to sleeping, it's not as bad because certain positions can help alleviate the blocked nose

All the suggestions so far are good ones, though I haven't tried all of them. I do drink a lot of tea and sometimes I will hold my nose right over the cup and inhale the steam before I drink. Sometimes I put a drop of tea tree oil at the base of my nose and that will clear up the stuffiness pretty fast for a while.

I'm a sinusitis to happen every-time I have a cold. And I have found that to drain well your sinus, put some salted water everyday (3 times) in your nose, and I discoverd that in caps they sell Fenugreek and thyme caps and those two herb help to stop the mucous to build up and drains it naturally the trade mark is Herbal Select and it is about $ 7.00/bottle. Oregano oil is good too very strong too,you can mix it in juice only about 6 drops and drink it.
