Who said the organizers of Occupy Wall Street are against capitalism?

With all the posters, signs, buttons and mouths extolling the virtues of Socialism, Communism, or just "Down With Capitalism", the organizers of Occupy Wall Street show their true pro business side. They have filed a trademark on "Occupy Wall Street", so they can market merchandise with the slogan and logos. GO CAPITALISM!!! GO IRONY!! :~D http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20111025/06111416499/revolution-will-not-be-infringed-upon-long-isla

I think those people were protesting against frauds committed in big companies and not against capitalism itself.

I think you'd better read up on what they are saying.

Actually, that IS what a lot of them will say if you ask them about it. I think a lot of these protesters do believe they are protesting against those things. That is pretty much what I was told when I asked. Honestly, I haven't watched them on the news and only read a couple of news articles on them and talked to a couple of them just to get the gist of what it's all about. I used to ignore my children when they threw little tantrums when they didn't get their way and they never ever got what they wanted by stomping their feet and acting like spoiled brats which is pretty much what many of these people are doing from what little I've read...which has mainly been through discussions here on Mylot.

Yup, just like this strange belief that they are against big business, while simultaneously accepting gifts from big businesses during their protest. One might even think that they were against big banks like Capital One, but they cheer loudly for Alec Baldwin, the face of Capital One, when he said he supported them.

Yup, they've got money being funneled to them by George Soros, a billionaire who bets against the American dollar to make money. I'm not saying they KNOW that he is funding them, they just go with an "ignorance is bliss" approach when accepting free stuff.

Well, it's going to be a short-lived bliss if all this is true. It just kills their credibility.

All I can do is shake my head. Maybe they don't know what capitalism is? Maybe someone should explain it to them. These babies didn't learned much in school, it seems. I'd like to tell them to grow up.

LMAO! That is like Michael Moore talking about the 1%. Holy crow these people. "celebrities talking about "the rich". I think it is great that they are doing this. But I wonder who will buy the stuff since they are all poor, homeless, jobless, etc

Hi Ted, I don't know as I really understand their cause and I question if they are ALL together on what exactly their cause is. They came to our town and I've talked to some local people who joined in while they were here as well as some that are all for it. Now it seems to depend on who you talk to. I totally understand some of their points and agree with them. But if they are doing things like this..well that's just not cool at all. Regardless of the cause, the protests themselves seem to cause more trouble then good. There are other ways to get your message out there besides standing around with signs and disrupting business's. I don't understand the logic in camping out in public places...where's the message in that. NO ONE CARES!! I don't care what the cause or if I agree or disagree, this method is childish and it incites and usually does nothing more than bother all the wrong people that couldn't help them even if they did agree. Locally, what I noticed when they showed up here was that many business owners came out and spoke with them and some joined in their march. Then the FreeStaters joined in because well, they pretty much protest any and everything. Even if I agreed with their cause, I'd never join them or support them because of how they are going about it.

Oh, the purposes of the organizers have been made more than clear.. which is why it's kind of ironic that the members don't seem to know them.
