Oh, Now Look Who Doesn't Want Iran to Have Nuclear Weapons!! lol

China and Russia has been helping Iran get nuclear power for how long now? Obama has done his normal "lead from behind", in both opposing Iranian nuclear programs and being apathetic about it. But now that (surprise surprise) Ahmadinejad has made it clear that he will continue to work on nuclear weapons, the three blind mice are freaking out. Um, IDIOTS! Did anyone in the world with a brain really believe that Ahmadinejad wasn't planning this from the start? Now, I bet the three will be just totally shocked and awed when phase II of Ahmadinejad's plan goes into effect... You know, something about some "idle words" about blowing Israel off the map? http://news.yahoo.com/obama-iran-sanctions-enormous-bite-033719471.html

While I don't necessarily think Iran getting a nuke is a great thing, lets face it, Ahmadinejad isn't stupid, and neither are the clerics. It is pretty certain a nuke used would mean their country being reduced to ashes and they know it. Even giving one to someone to use would result in their decimation, this too they are painfully well aware of. I would also like to touch on the whole "wiped off the map" thing, since I saw it mentioned a number of times in this thread. However, this speech has been so twisted and distorted it has lost all original meaning. It has nothing to do with nuking Israel or the destruction of the Jewish People. In fact, the word "map" is never even used in the speech. It was paraphrase of a speech from Khomeini, not even Ahmadinejad's own words. Properly translated, the original line reads, "The regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time." It was a reference to Zionism, not the nation of Israel or it's people. He had suggested that the people of Israel and the people of Palestine hold a referendum to decide on a mutual government. Again, it had nothing to do with nuking Israel. But the media got hold of it and after finding a translation (that was later retracted as wrong) kept going with it because it made a great political talking point or the republican party. Our problem with Iran started a long time ago, well before the revolution. In fact, the revolution was a direct result of our interference in the 50's. Call it "blame America first" if you wish, but like it or not, it is fact that this is a problem that resulted directly from our interference. We cannot escape history no matter how painful it may be. My positions have not come about easily. It took a lot of soul searching and pragmatism. I have a great love and pride for my country but I also realize my government has historically done some pretty bad things, even if the intentions were sometimes (though not always) initially good. It isn't easy for me to say to the world, "yeh, we screwed up pretty bad doing (insert foriegn policy blunder here)." But wrong is wrong and it does have consequences. We go around the world poking sticks in to hornet nests and then have the nerve to act surprised when hornets come swarming out to sting us. Now to point I have been building up to. What scares me is I have seen this movie before. It is sounding exactly like the build up to the Iraq war. Do we REALLY want another war? Why exactly (why REALLY) the sudden push on Iran...now that the Iraq and Afghanistan wars are winding down? We have become addicted to it and it is starting to scare me.

Let's see, Ahmadinejad said he wanted to blow Israel off the map. He said he wanted nuclear power, but not nuclear weapons. Now that Russia and China have supplied him with everything he needs, he makes it clear that he's going for the very nuclear weapons he said he didn't want. This is the guy you are trusting? Why do you think hate is rational?

"Let's see, Ahmadinejad said he wanted to blow Israel off the map" Actually I believe I just established he didn't in fact say that. "He said he wanted nuclear power, but not nuclear weapons." Yeh, that's probably a bunch of bullshytte, he wants weapons. "This is the guy you are trusting" Trusting isn't exactly the word I would use "Why do you think hate is rational? " ...I have no idea what you're talking about there.

Hey Ted since you are pro-tea party maybe you should write the Koch brothers and let them know how you feel about Koch Industries steps to skirt around the laws prohibiting sales to Iran. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-10-02/koch-brothers-flout-law-getting-richer-with-secret-iran-sales.html

Last I checked, my name isn't Koch, so why hold me responsible for their actions? (Legal or otherwise).

Well you don't think Obama is doing enough but on the other hand "your boys" seem to be doing absolutely all the wrong things. Go tea party! Maybe they are genocidal freaks too?

So now you're lumping me in with whatever the Koch brothers do? If they committed a crime, then they should be prosecuted for it. Let the legal chips fall where they may. Or are you saying all TEA partiers should be tried for whatever they did? Because that's what it sounds like.

Yeah, you know they'll be totally shocked. Of course they knew all along. I wouldn't be surprised if the three of them supplied Iran with critical components. But we'll never know. It's all political rantings. And I wouldn't worry too much about an immediate threat. Israel has sophisticated intelligence and the ability to defend itself.

Yes. I said "the three of them."

I wonder what the real Koch brothers would do with all the power the left's myth of the Koch brothers attribute to them . ;~D

Oh, Russia and China have made no secret of supplying Iran with the critical components of energy grade nuclear materials and components.

Agree that our Iran policy is too little too late. We got off our footing when the wrongheaded Necons persuaded Bush/Cheney to overthrow Saddam Hussein while the real threat in the so-called "axis of evil" was always Iran. The irony is Iran and Iraq had been at war and formed a natural buffer zone in the Mideast. But the Neocon geniuses apparently thought that overthrowing Hussein was an easy way of setting up a democratic regime in Iraq that would form a strategic alliance with the U.S. and Israel against Iran. I'm not sure what leverage the U.S. had to prevent or forestall Iran's nuclear program short of war.

Yeah after US found these weapons on Iraq it`s time to go to Iran and search for them, kill the leaders,"free the people " and steal their oil like they did in Iraq. Then they will tell you again they had bad intelligence but in the end they did a good thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soohikNdbWs&feature=related

Um, except we didn't steal their oil did we. In fact, the original plan was to use oil resources in Iraq to pay for the war, but well... you lefties also blame Bush for NOT seizing the oil assets don't you. ;~D Why don't you come up with a new set of lies. You might as well since you don't give a crap about the facts anyway.

I`m not a leftist well i am but i`m not an US citizen and i didn`t said ordinary people have stolen their oil but the rich people did.Why should they pay for the war US started ? What are US troops doing in Afghanistan and Iraq ? We are there too "helping " those people to "be free " killing them every day and stealing their resources.Read about heroine and Afghanistan and you will see they are making now more heroine than ever . The facts are you are being manipulated to think there is a bad guy on this planet and he may come one day and attack you so you should "support our troops " to get rid of that guy .Then the soldiers go there ,kill him and a lot of innocent people and the rich guys steal the resources that country has.I wonder how you will feel if one day the US won`t be the biggest military power and someone else will come to "free " you and then they will make you pay for that.

But Iran will soon have them if no one stops them. Why do you think Ahmadinejad wants respect from other leaders? Or what if his form of respect includes breaking Hitler's record, or just finishing "The Final Solution". He's already vowed to blow Israel off the map. Right?

Just another example of Obama's "monkey see, monkey do" presidency.

Peavey beat me to it--Israel will never let Iran have nukes. Remember when they took action against (I think it was) Kadaffi when everyone else was wringing their hands? Those people are the real protectors of the free world now and they'll get the job done until we get someone with some intestinal fortitude and some genuine stones.
