Ice Covered Roads

I had some plans today however I'm not so sure today is a good day to do anything. The news has nothing but I'd say 1/4 of our state listed with a freezing rain advisory. Ton's of car accidents and other driving issues. Hubby took my van as his car is not ment for bad roads at all. He said he tried to drive his car but slid partway down the next road over so he turned around and traded cars. I'm hoping the ice will be better by the time I wanted to leave later today, if not that's how things roll cause the place I need to go is at quite a substantial incline and if cars have trouble with regular roads and I'm left with hubby's car it's probably safer to stay home.

Were on the border of when it's going to stay cold vs teetering on mild weather we've been in the 30-40's. The most snow we say was maybe 1/4in if that the other week. But you know I won't be too optimistic January will be here in two shakes and we'll be beyond cold and covered in snow for 2months or so....

Thankfully I do have that choice. Seems though once the sun started warming things up a bit with the salted roads everything was fine. I dread the days I don't have a choice in going anywhere.

its a good day to stay in and read or whatever. i am here in Canada and i dont know about your local drivers, but a lot of drivers here in Ontario, drive like it is summer, even in the winter. it seems that they forget how to drive in winter conditions every year!

We have that problem quite often here too. Usually the first bouts of bad weather causes problems. We haven't had any substantial snow yet so.. I'm sure there's more days like this morning to come.

Good.. you've got time to respond to my e-mail then, LOL.
I'm staying home too.. mostly because I have no where to go. Brought my youngest to daycare even though I have the day off.. gonna spend the rest of the day not doing much of anything until it's time to go get him, then come home and do some more of nothing!

Yes yes... working on it! I have time to write in the evening when I'm tired but then I don't make much sense too much lately.
I'm looking fwd to doing nothing, even moreso when the kids are back in school in a few days.

Yeah, I ended up doing some cleaning yesterday.. of course. Hubby completely cleared out the hallway between the living room and the dining room which we're currently using as a living room since the actual living room isn't cleaned out yet. The hallway now just needs new plaster and some paint and it's good to go. I worked on the upstairs hallway with the kids. Mopped it about half a dozen times cuz it had a nasty smell to it.. not really a cat smell, but some strange, strong smell that sort of made your nose hurt. Well I scrubbed it with vinegar and baking soda and then some pine sol.. so now all I smell up there is vinegar, which is better than it used to smell. A coat of paint and that hallway is good to go too.
For now I'd say mosst of our cleaning is done.. except the living room but that doesn't need cleaning, we just need to haul everything out of there and paint it. The rest of the house just needs paint, and the kitchen needs a new floor.
Still gotta do the lower cabinets in the kitchen, and the upstairs closet.. but can't really do those just yet since there's no where to put the trash.
Maybe someday we really will have a do nothing day, LOL.

Winter tyres? Possibly with spikes? Spikes on a can? Chains? Car socks?
You name it, it's in my car :-) Except the chains (fast chains or whatever they'd be called in English), I need to get some. Just in case. Also need to put the big bag of gravel back in the car, and find my spade. Best be prepared for driving off the road. I've never done it, but you never know. I might have to help dig someone else out too.
