It seems that I am gaining more and more young new friends. I wanted to tell them how much I admire them at their stage in life. When I was your age life was a lot more simple and still I found it very hard so those of you who are in the middle of your education or just entering the workforce, maybe you have a yound family, I want you to know that you are of great value even when you feel down or things don't seem to be going your way all who are older then you depend on your wonderful abilities and will to keep striving to obtain your goals. After all without you life would hardly be worth living. We all live for the next generation whether we know it or not. That is the way the world works. Blessings and Happy New Year.

Hi savypat, We all live for the next generation... I think that's a great way of putting it. I sometimes compare the of the end of a year to the end of a lifetime. We have seen in the seasons, all the stages of life, yet it is not the end but a glorious new beginning. As you say those of us in the autumn of our life, need the young and should welcome them with open arms for they are the future. I have many young friends and think that the future is in good hands. Happy New year to you too my friend. Blessings.

How I wish I could turn back the clock and take advantage of all the missed opportunities in my younger days. Alas....once time passed us we will never again be able to steal back what has left us but only to envy those young people who have all the golden opportunities that needs no invitation but to make good of everything as far as the eyes can see and as much as they can grab. For the young people today, this world is their oyster and the sky is their limit! If young people care to listen to seasoned people, half the battle of success in life is won.

I think that it is great to be able to see how people are living their lives when they are at different stages of their lives. I still consider myself to be a young person, but I feel that the issues that I've had to deal with are issues that are a lot deeper than those that most people that are my age have to deal with. Therefore, I find that a lot of my goals for this year are goals that people will have that are a lot older than I am.
I can only hope that I'm able to get it all right this year.

I am in my late 30s and I am back in school working towards my Masters Degree (I will have my degree in April). I hope to find a job soon because it is has been a financial burden to me. My husband is also not working and we ended up moving in with my parents. It is hard living with my parents because we have no privacy and since my sister and her four kids live here as well it is always noisy. I can only do my homework really late at night and it is affecting my health. I am worried that I may not be able to find work since the economy is really bad and I really do not see it getting any better any time soon.

History shows us that during times like this many of the things we thought were so important during more prosperous times are no longer even goals. It's like we take one step forward and two steps back. Moving back to the family home is something that many of us have done and have been thankful to have such a home available. I think times are looking up in the job market and the fact that you have taken this time to improve your educations can't do anything but help Blessings in the new year.

I admire the younger people also. I also do not envy them because they are just starting out. I worked a long time and have lost everything. I am not in a good place right now, but I am hoping that this year will be the year things change for me. I am at the point in my life where I need to be coasting. But that does not seem to be the way it will go.

I don't think there is a whole lot to be said for coasting, it just looks good from the outside. I can't tell you how many friends we have who retired without a plan and thought they would just coast, well they coasted right into their graves. So maybe where you are is not so bad after all. Blessings

Maybe you're right. But, I should be in a better place in my life at this point. I do know I am depressed and I know that is not helping me any. I am being treated for it. Although, I believe my depression is pretty deep rooted. Just four years ago I was totally functional, not I cannot concentrate on a TV show anymore. I lost all my ambition. I fight it everyday and the fight is bringing me down. But I do feel that this year will be a better one for me. I am hoping that I can get things in order, although my depression might not get better, I have to get these things done. That should lessen the load.

hi savypat,
I understand what you feel and I have realized that we cannot turn back time to those days when we are still young and very strong. That is why I keep on changing my attitude for the better. I keep on enjoying life. I am 27 years old now and I know I can still do more. No matter what lies ahead this 2012, I will be always thanking God and always feel gratitude towards all the blessings.

That's a great view savypat!
I too believe that we all live for the next generation. And that's why I work hard for my children. So that I could give them all the necessary tools to succeed in life.
Hopefully these tools I impart would include their own respect to the generation that comes after them.
Happy New Year to you!

Thanks for your great encouragement on this discussion. Actually, currently, financially I am in trouble, and I am doing my best to work it out. Within my work experience, I am not experienced, and I am lack of a lot of knowledge on how things work, and I definitely need to re - educate myself. I am trying my best to find a way out, and I want to do something that will be a great value to me.
