You get a job offer. You hurry up and respond. You wait by the phone. You call.

Only to find out the boss is going to be out all day, today and tomorrow. It could be worse. I've had offers and found out the boss was going to be out for a week or two. So has this happened to you?"Please contact us," and then the person to contact isn't there, isn't going to be there, etc? What do you think? I think, "Why do they send things out when they're not going to be there?" I have a few other thoughts, too, but I want to see what yours are.

If they call and say call us...they should be there to take the call or make sure someone else is expecting it. That is just my opinion but why send out a call if you aren't going to be there to answer the return?

Exactly. I think they had a deadline to send it out, but they don't really want to hire someone or they have all the time in the world before they hire someone.

i would wonder if this isn't a time of patience. I would leave a professional message back and move on. Don't let it get you down. The boss is busy. If he doesn't respond back in three days i would just chalk it up to stupidity.

This is the 3rd time it's happened to me. Hurry up and wait. I hate it. So busy he and the person under him can take time off. Leaving the secretary to field all the calls.

Am not defending the boss in this discussion but it could be the boss had an emergency and had to leave town or was screening her/his calls for this job offer. Hope you are able to get through and atleast leave a message. Be persistent and try calling again. I would be frustrated with this process but if I wanted the job bad enough would call once more. Good luck!

This is the third time and all three bosses, I doubt they had an emergency. Not only the first, but the second was out. Screening the calls. They sent me the notice, I didn't get it from somewhere else. The boss, I called, his name is on the notice as well as his phone number, email address, etc. If he was screening them, he didn't have to send me the information to begin with. No, this is a pattern of behavior where I live. The boss sends out a notice, takes days off and lets the secretary handle it.

I have never had that happen to me before, but I can imagine it would be frustrating for you. I am glad you were offered the job though. Congratulations on that! Hopefully the next few days fly by for you till you get a call back.

Well about 10 to 20 of ua were offered the job. All the part-timers at this one place. Since we don't all come in and meet each other at one time, that's what I'm guessing. So I will be persistant, but not really expect to get it.

Nothing like this has ever happened to me during my working career,i have always been interviewed and got a job whenever i have applied for one.I know its very frustrating when something like this happens.Yes,now i remember,it did happen once.I was called for an interview once.I went to the office and waited for an hour as the boss had gone out. Then the boss called the office and said that he would be coming late and asked me to come the next morning.I left the office and never went back.Fortunately the office was just a couple of bus stops away from my residence. However in a weeks time i got another job.

Unless he had been in a car accident or had some real reason for not coming back, I wouldn't bother either. Jobs used to be easy to get, but now they're difficult. Glad you got a different job the next day.

I've been into telemarketing before, and I have had encountered such things when the person says that they can call me the next day. And this is about projects that needs to be decided... Then I will learn that the person will be out of the country for the next 15 days About recruitment, so far I have not encountered such thing and hopefully will not. I guess if they are not considering someone to hire, they must not make the waiting time too long.

This is the third boss and the third job. I think it's a pattern of behaviorl.

The only rational thought I have about this is that they have become accustomed to people not getting back to them promptly. Either that, or sometimes something comes up and they get called away unexpectedly. I would be anxious and frustrated, though, when it comes to that.

If it wasn't the third time this has happened to me, I would figure something came up. But by the third boss that pulls this, I think they just plan days off, send an offer out and keep the days off. Not only the first boss was out, but the second also. So do they really want to hire someone for this position or not? Since when do both bosses take the same day off? I'm highly suspicious of this entire deal. I think they have to hire someone, but don't really want to deal with it.

Yes there is nothing so frustrating as waiting for a returned call, especially if you are waiting to make a choice that depends on someone's response. I feel your pain, diffently been there.

Luckily I only have this offer. I had 3 offers one time and the one I really wanted left me dangling, so I coudln't say yes or no to the other two. That's even more frustrating, so it could be worse. Thanks and take care.

That is discouraging but keep the faith and hopefully it will be a good offer.

I hope so, but like you said, it's discouraging. Makes you wonder if it is a good offer or ill conceived and not one wants to take responsibility for it.
