Stinky Jobs....Cleaning the Litter Box  

I got "sifting" litter pans for our house. We have 2 cats and 2 boxes and it takes me a grand total of 3 minutes to clean both.

Keeping them clean is the key and it is so easy and quick with these litter pans. Everything stays stay nice and clean. But, nothing will help immediately after one of them had just done a "real stinker" until the smell has had time to disapate. After all, they can't "light a match".

A spray "odor nuetralizer" does help then; just like it does in the bathroom when my husband does "that"!

Thats would I do too. Everytime I go by I scoop them. Maybe you can move them to another place. I keep mine in the laudry room which goes out to the porch so theres always fresh air coming in. I also have 3 cats.

What kind of clumpable litter are you using? I use scoopaway brand for multiple cats. I just go in and scoop out the box once a day and it only takes me about 2 minutes and it seems like the litter lasts a little longer too.

I dont mind it in summer because I take them outside and rince them out then I spray them down with Dow scrubbing bubbles. It works great. It is the only thing that will take any of the smell out. I leave if for about 20 min or so and spray it out again. Let it dry in the sun and it is good to go again.

In winter, it is hard. It is too cold and too windy to do it outside

None--- No matter what you do they just stink! I just got done cleaning my kitties litter pan! GROSS! I'm telling you this though- Our last cat was a Bangle (Tiger) He was a huge cat and he took some huge Poops! He was also a male- and his urine smelled so bad that whenever he went and did his business no matter where you were in the house you knew- I would always go and scoop right away.. Poor Bozo got hit in the road-
Gracie- our petite Female cat takes little poops and her urine doesn't smell near as bad! SO the job isn't as gross as it was-
Have you tried the arm n hammer cat litter stuff?? Its a deodarizer? We got a free sample when we bought the cat from the Humane Society-- It smells like flowers-- Not sure how it works yet- As little Gracie hasn't gone since I cleaned it!

Sorry my cats are cats door my mother had cats in the house, oh i hated that job and she used sand god it smelled bad.Have you seen the self cleaning litter box i think i saw it on qvc n of them you might want check it out and see.

I really don't have any suggestions to help you but I can relate to what you are saying. I have thirteen cats,yep I said 13 and six liter boxes. They have to be changed several times a week and scooped out several times a day. If I get just a bit lazy, I will end up regretting it. Everyone was supposed to take turns cleaning them but it seems to never get past my turn. I live in the country so we get lots of strays and soft hearted me brings them in the house. I know I need to get down to a more manageable amount but it is hard. They are a lot of work but each has its own personality. As for liter, I use the walmart brand and I also put baking soda in it. I have heard that the clumpable kind of liter is bad for your pets but I can't remember where I heard it.

I have the perfect suggestion. I use natural pine, and there is absolutely no urine smell, and 99% of the tracking of litter is stopped. I get it in Petsmart, a 25 lb bag for $10.00. I love it, they love it, and no smell. People never ever know that I have cats in my home. It is biodegradeable too.

I also have two litter boxes and three cats. I usually pick through the boxes a couple of times during the week. Then once a week I clean the boxes. I use the litter bags and it does the make the clean pretty easy. I also use deodorant in the litter boxes. It does help. So by the end of the week it isn't great, but it isn't that bad.

I know how you feel about the cat box. My cat don't use the litter box she uses the newspaper its easier to clean. I have tried the letter box when she was a kitten so she just use the paper on the same spot and I clean it up
