One of my mother-in-law's favorite expressions when someone was bothering her, was to tell them to go pound sand.
I didn't pound any sand today, but I moved some. I estimate the total to have been about 200 pounds. The photos...

When we free-camped at Greenbushes Pool in Western Australia, we went for a walk around the pool. There are toilets there, rubbish bins and also a playground.
I reckoned Vince would be dying to try out the little shovel affair...

Hello everyone on Wednesday! How’s it going? I got to work extra early on accident, but I gave myself plenty of time to get to work, but first pick up my car and shovel myself out. I am SO happy I decided to get the AWD version of...

I don't anymore (snowblower)
But back in the day it was all done by hand.
Anyone else shovels the driveway by hand?

Yesterday my hubby and I spent about 40 minutes outside shoveling. While we do have a snow blower this was light fluffy snow that was easy to push with the snow shovel. We got the driveway, sidewalk and walkway all clear.
This...

Yesterday we had snow squalls, which left us with whiteout conditions. It also meant that the driveway and sidewalk needed attention.
We do have a snowblower, but it needs to be repaired before we can use it. That meant that I...

The snow is coming.
Break out the shovels.
Hurry up and get ready
On the double.
Be proactive.
Start shoveling now.
Okay, there isn't any snow yet.
It doesn't matter any how.
Pretend that there's snow.
Get a handle on the...

Yes I am in a snowy daze for the past two days. The snow came fast and furious and even though we were warned I didn't take it seriously. I am sitting here watching the birds trying to get to the food under the piles of snow in...

Hello to all of my myLot friends. Yesterday, and the day before, my city of Denver/Aurora, was hammered with snow. We got about 2 feet all together after all was said and done.
I thought about all the elderly who would have...

You can shovel it, blow it, plow it, salt it, or melt it. Some have even converted their lawnmower into a snow-blowing machine. What’s the best way you’ve found to get rid of the snow on your driveway or sidewalk? We mostly just...

it up?
Root crops that spread out (think potatoes, not carrots), I know darn well I should use a compost pitchfork, but I used a shovel on my sunchokes. Right after I used the shovel and cut through the roots, I thought, "You...

This photo shows the fenced area near my back porch with snow stacked half way up the 6 foot fence. You can see the porch cement right by the edge of the pile. Each year when we get a lot of snow the piles get too high. Then I...

I love that song. But this isn't about that kind of turn.
This photo shows the work I am doing today on and off in my garden.
I am turning over a new area that was extended from the old garden bed. I do it by hand as opposed to...

...shifting snow!
It's been snowing light puffy lovely flakes here on and off for weeks.
It hasn't been hard to shift it off pathways and steps and it really is pretty!
Last night changed all that. The wind was horrific and...
