I've got a wicked painful sunburn. I applied and re-applied sun screen, but I'm still a nice glowing shade of red. Do you know any good home remedies for the pain and skin damage?

Why do people believe that if a black person stays in the sun to long they will not get sun burn.
Does there skin have some sort of protection on it that tells the sun don't shine on me?
Let me know what you think about this?
