Curlann Funny thing is I know that too but it is not always easy to be sensitive, especially when things catch us off guard. We all have moments I think where we react without thinking.

Curlann @Ineeddentures That’s really impressive, especially at 10 years old! But not all native speakers are at the highest level. Some don’t read or write as much. Your habit of always finding out the meaning of words is definitely a big advantage.

Curlann @Ineeddentures Thanks for sharing, Jimlos. I can understand why you feel upset. If teachers and parents can’t control bad behavior, it must be very hard for everyone. I don’t know the best solution, but I agree it’s a big problem.

Curlann Absolutely, many ESL sites are super helpful. These CEFR tests are another great tool because they give a clear level and show where you might need improvement. Have you tried any online ESL tests yourself?

Curlann @Ineeddentures It’s sad to hear how much things have changed in schools. When there’s no real consequence for bad behaviour, it’s hard for teachers to keep a good learning environment. I can see why that would affect students’ progress and confidence....

Curlann Reading being your strongest skill is a great foundation! The others usually catch up with time and practice, so “work in progress” sounds exactly right.
