RIP
A lot of people know him from acting, but the real discovery is the work he did as a director.
Tom Noonan made small, intimate films that feel personal in a way most movies never do. No flash, no grand speeches, just people...

I know this is an international site, and even though you don't depend on this, I'll explain it anyway, and would love to hear how your country deals with hunger. SNAP is the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in the US....

I’ve noticed most of my daily annoyances don’t come from big problems. They come from stupid little things I keep forgetting. Like toenails. You don’t think about them, you don’t see them much, and then one day your toes just hurt...

Lately I’ve been thinking about how disconnected everything feels, not just people from each other, but from reality itself. Everyone online acts like they’ve got money, energy, options, and endless time, but that’s not how life...

If you are like me in a tundra with over a feet of snow and has to shovel snow almost every day, and use a plastic shovel. Flip the shovel over and drag the snow to the side. The way people do it on TV is sooo tiring, and so...

The worst prediction I ever made was Carrie (2013).
On paper, it had everything going for it....

I usually avoid clicking on random links. Once in a while I’ll watch something, but even a single video can throw off my recommendations and flood me with similar content. I know I could use an incognito browser, but I’m not going...

I do this with music, movies, and stand-up comedy. I think it's more impactful than information. Moving the heart and the brain is probably more effective for positive social change than reading articles from the mid-70s,...

Having watched a vast number of films, especially within a tightly defined genre like film noir, the impact of even the most acclaimed classics begins to fade. Noir isn’t just a style; it’s a set of recurring motifs and...

Mort Sahl my hero. I "discovered" him when I was 18, and have been saving and purchasing archives since then, as well as studying America to understand the references. "The Rebel Without a Pause" deserves better than to be...

It could be a bad date.. Completely unsuccessful. Maybe two people who try and try, but never get anywhere. I'm guessing/hoping these would be more independent.
"What Happened Was..." - Romance/Comedy - I don't see anything funny...

I finally got some health care, because my front two teeth fillings came off after flossing. It looks horrible. So I call the dentist and tell them.. I have to wait a month. Fine.. I go today and all they do is take photos. They...

I remember a story my mom told me from when I was about four or five. We were visiting some family friends, and when my dad said, “Well, we have a few things to do and some places to go,” I interrupted and said, “No we don’t —...

I’ve read about a dozen books on John Lennon. He’s always been a hero of mine, and I hope it’s good and accurate. It just came out today. Not sure where. Has anyone seen this? Looking forward to it? I only saw 12 votes on IMDB and...

I think it's an inherent—and often subconscious—bias, but I wonder how much it shapes our final judgment of a movie. When a film presents an allegory or microcosm that aligns with our worldview, are we more likely to praise it,...

Buying a car is expensive. Even a used car will have a ton of repairs. Gas. Oil changes, etc..
But an Uber ride can't be that expensive for a 5-10 mile trip.
Anyway, if anyone has experience transitioning from one to another,...

Before the End: Searching for Jim Morrison - 1/10
This thing annoyed me so much…… I’ll add only that I was going to avoid leaving an IMDB review because I plan on uploading it, and don’t want the 2nd comment on IMDB to be a 1/10...

Especially funny and/or audacious ones..
I find it hilarious that Coppola faked a seizure in front of Paramount executives when they said "Marlon Brando will never be in this picture". I think it helped because Coppola actually...
