What should I do?

Animediva25 @Animediva25 (15) • United States 27 Apr 13

I've always heard that pits were dangerous dogs. Naturally, I've always been cautious of them, but a problem has arisen. My sister has a pit, it's not overly aggressive, but I get always have this fear that he will bite me. I've...

Need advice about Turbo..

katsmeow1213 @katsmeow1213 (28716) • United States 27 Apr 13

Okay, I need some help with this. Turbo is thus far a great dog. He appears to be housebroken, he hasn't had any accidents in the house except for 1 when he first arrived. He completely ignores the cats, and loves to lounge on...

Those who are familiar with my dog posts as of late will realize that I have a picky dog when it comes to his food and I am trying my very best to be still a good owner (looking for his health and well-being) and still keep my...

...update on picky dog

jeanneyvonne @jeanneyvonne (5500) • Philippines 21 Apr 13

I started a discussion about my dog being a picky eater. I did enforce the 10-15 minute rule (where I take away his food if he doesn't touch it) and I even tried introducing a small amount of another dog food brand. after several...

Octav1 Don't give up! You'll succeed now that everyone understood the rule must be respected. I have a suggestion for you: if he refuses the food in the morning and early noon, make a small portion of food for the dog's dinner. He will be really hungry in the...

The strange reason to shave the dog

youless @youless (114065) • Guangzhou, China 23 Apr 13

My colleague shaved her dog and her dog looks so weird and even ugly in my opinion. I asked her why she had to shave the dog. She said it would be easier to handle since the dog often fell the hair everywhere. I was in shock to...

Octav1 I don't really think it is a torture. But it doesn't help him too much. If the weather is hot, he will feel more warmth, because his coat is used to regulate the body temperature. If the weather is cold, he will feel cold and he will need a piece of cloth to...

Octav1 Hmm, to shave the dog only because there was hair everywhere? I don't see this as a solution. The dog must have been checked to see if there isn't a skin condition that caused that loss of hair. If he was healthy, regular combing and brushing would have been...

A Gruesome Death

kenshin2143 @kenshin2143 (1880) • Philippines 24 Apr 13

Last night while I was buying some canned goods in the nearby store, I suddenly heard a cracking sound then I turn my head across the street, I saw a dog being hit by a bus. It was really dead on the spot. Just imagine it for...

Octav1 I feel sorry for the poor dog. At least he died on the spot and he didn't suffer. There are hundreds of dogs that suffer for days after being hit by cars, and they eventually die because of the injuries. I wonder where was that dog's owner when the accident...

I just gave my dog a treat and he chewed it for a while then went outside and buried it. I know he did because he came back with dirt all over his nose . Why do they do this do you think? Does your dog do anything...

Octav1 Our dog never did this. She eats everything she gets. But our previous dog used to bury her bones under the armchair cushions. Sometimes we didn't see her doing so and after some days we were wondering what was that bad smell. You are...

Octav1 You do have a problem there if not everybody in the house understand what "consistency" means. Dogs know how to take advantage of our weaknesses. Once your dog learnt he will receive other food if he doesn't eat his own food, he will always wait...

What causes a puppy to eat his own flesh.

thegarden @thegarden (1) 19 Apr 13

We have a puppy which is a mixed breed. He is about 3 months old. So the other day we noticed that he was eating his own flesh. Has anyone heard of this?

4 responses

Octav1 I never heard of a dog eating his own flash. I wonder what do you mean by "eating his own flesh". You probably saw him licking a wound or something. This would be a normal behavior for a dog, to clean his own wounds. Or you saw him scratching himself with...

Octav1 I remember I was fascinated by this show years ago. I downloaded all the series and I used to watch them over and over. Now I don't find the man so special any more. I think he's just a man that understand dogs. Once you get to understand the dogs, what this...

Does your dog have red ,orange, or green toys?

barehugs @barehugs (8973) • Canada 9 Apr 13

Many dog owners buy bright colored toys for their dog,not knowing that dogs do not see red, orange or green. Red appears as brown or gray to your dog. A green ball may be hard for your dog to distinguish because it looks gray and...

Octav1 Our dog has toys from all colors. Her favorite kind of toys are those small balls that can jump very high. It doesn't matter what color they are, she's completely mad about them. I don't know how she knows which is the ball she wants to play at a time, but she...

Octav1 I am glad to hear that Jazz's surgery went fine. I don't know what means that the tumor is a low grade cancer, but if you say it's a good sign, I can't buy be happy for him. Does the vet said anything about the life expectancy for Jazz?

Octav1 I don't think pork is a good idea for dog food. You can use a lamb meal instead. Lamb is known to be good for dogs with allergies. Our dog is from a breed that is prone to skin allergies so she must have only antiallergic food. Right now she's eating a lamb...
