I am thinking of rejoining Gather.com

Before I do, can you give me some advice to earn? I also would like to know how I keep from getting so much Gather e-mail that I cannot find my MyLot e-mail? I guess I could set up another account for that. I am thinking I could learn to earn there and maybe make as much as I do freelancing right now, with no deadlines. Besides, I miss my friends there. It was second only to MyLot, and it was reliable and paid when I figured out how to earn something.

If I was in your Gather down line do I have to quit too and rejoin? I forgot all about it, would I have been dropped for inactivity? Gracious, do I even know my login any more? Hah!

I think you have to quit on your own. If I remember they did not count referrals. I have so many places I have joined and posted one article or so, then never gone back. Time to make a change. I bet if you joined, you are still there, and they would gladly send you your log in info.

I did join back up. Now I have to go find all of my friends. I had really missed Connie (villageanne) and she never comes here anymore.

Ok, I am still there and if you want you look me up, my user name there is janetann and btw they apparently do pay us when we refer people but just for the initial sign up I guess and not ongoing. One gal wrote that she paid for her family's whole vacation with her Gather points. Awesome. I don't think I could hang out there that long!

As mentioned I believe you can turn off your notifications selected there if you are getting too many go to the site and do so. Rather seems to be one of those sites that has been around for while and while it does not probably pay large sums of money or points eventually if you participate long enough you will accumulate some benefit. I do not think it accepts international members still house periodically I asked them if they are going to accept members from Canada and they say maybe sometime in the future. I guess it's time to e-mail them again and see if that is going to happen, at least my points that I have accumulated do not expire.

It would be great if they were as accepting of international members as MyLot is. I understand that there are people who are not able to be paid even by MyLot because of a ban on our government for paying people in certain countries. I love getting to know people from all over.

I did not know they banned payment. They cancelled one of the payment methods so they only pay in PayPal. I guess some people cannot access PayPal in their country. It did not affect me so I did not pay much attention.

I remember signing up with Gather.com sometime back but never really participated in it. I guess they are no longer accepting international participation. I used my other email addy for this one and have not checked on it to see whether I have mails from them. Mylot still is the best but lately there have been less notifications from my friends in my emails. I don't know whether some friends have shifted their allegiance with mylot when they found greener pastures.

There are many sites similar to mylot but non can match the quality of mylot. Mylot is still the best. I like it here.

The notification thing happens to all of us from time to time, I have seen discussions about it, in fact I have had a discussion about it. I was a member at Gather for awhile, and they kept having lots of upgrades, plus I did not know the best way to make it earn for me. I have not found anything quite like MyLot, but I did have friends on Gather, as well.

i still have not logged in again on this site since i register 2 years back. i jsut find it hard to understand how to earn and be paid as an international mebmer that is why i am not keen to be active on thi site. i just felt that they are just for US members that was why i left it. but it will prove to be a good site also for international members, i may get back to it. but i still don't know what to do there or how to do the things we are supposed to do on this site.

Since it's been 3 months, so did you get to rejoin Gather? And how was it? Does it work for you? I have heard of Gather before but don't know whether it's only for US members or international can join too. If it's something like AC, then that's cool. And hopefully, it's working out for you..

I did rejoin, and found some of the people I had worried about or wanted to see. I am not earning fast, but I am pretty steady. I like it in a different way than MyLot. Someone pointed out there are lots of good recipes there, and that is true. I seem to be earning faster than I was, I only cashed out one time before. We just had an upgrade. I like some of the stuff I read a lot.

No, I guess I did not explain. There are some people that had some health problems or were losing their homes and jobs and I was worried for their well being. They are my friends and I care for them.

Sorry to ask, but why were you worried upon seeing some people you don't wanna see? You have any bad experiences with them?? That's so cool. I might take a look at the site sometime, because I love reading too. Would love to read more stuffs and gain more knowledge..

Good luck, I never figured that site out. I joined it after Boomertowne went belly up. Seemed to me that one day you could do something and get paid, and when you did whatever it was again...that you didn't earn anything. I would need a 'Gather for Dummies' book to figure that site out.

I totally forgot about boomertowne! It went belly up huh? That's the site where you can put people in jail correct?

I never noticed a jail option, but it might have been there. I mostly loved the recipes that members submitted. I got a lot of good ones there.

Well, first of all, they've changed the way people can earn points and most people are earning way less points. You hardly get anything for viewing anymore. And, even when you post something, you still don't get the points you used to get. A lot of people have stopped viewing, which makes it even harder to earn. They've also taken the cap off of how many points you can earn, which means that some people can earn a lot of points, but most earn very little. I'm still there, but not as much as I used to be. The best way to earn points, for me, is to participate in the promotional chats that the site has. You can also get some free stuff, too, from the sponsors.

And, to keep from getting so much Gather mail, go to your preferences and uncheck the checkmarks that say that you want to get mail for things. I think you might have to go to different groups and set the settings for the group mail, but I'm not sure.

I love Gather. Why did you ever give it up? I've made $600 in PayPal payments this year alone. As for the e-mails, there are settings on your "my Gather" page for e-mail preferences. I appreciate all the e-mail, and I have separate accounts for my Gather and MyLot e-mails.

I like mylot better too, but I still have my Gather account. I'm not really crazy about Gather. I feel I actually get to know people here on mylot. On Gather I'm more there to make some money. I get so much e-mail from them too. So I just changed my mailing options. I eliminated a lot of e-mail by not checking the box that would have sent me notifications for people's videos. And I don't check the boxes that would send me all the e-mail from my groups either.

I am joined there too but the earnings there is very little for our work. I do not go there anymore. the site loads too slow for me also. I would set up a separate email for them also. I got paid one time but now it takes alot more work to earn a good amount there.

I just rejoined gather to get points for amazon giftcards if I can. I had been a member but didn't do much. Not sure how to earn this time but through skimming the first page of responses, it seems it's a bit tougher and trickier!

Gather.com is a site where you join groups, post articles, make comments and view other people's videos and articles. It is sponsored by National Public Radio, I believe. I understand they do not pay international members.

I don't remember if I joined that or not, I am thinking I did join it. I never spent much time there if I did, hopefully you will get some good info here that can help us all. What kinds of things do you do there and why do you earn money? Is it were you have to have lots of eferrals to earn? I am always open to making money.

No, I don't remember that you earn from referrals. You earn from posts and pictures, though. It was fun, but was different from here.

From what I understand you need to post, post, post. The more views and comments you get the better your earnings. I don't post often and I only make a point or two for views and commenting. But the people that do alot of posting are claiming they are getting alot more points. I was overloaded also. I went in and quit having all my groups sent to my emsil. I also quit having my friends posts sent to me that I can go to the group and get. When I have time. I go to the group page and just go through posts there. I do have a few groups that are of real interest to me sent to my email.

I used to be a lot more active on Gather, and then I just kind of slacked off and focused on writing for Associated Content and Helium instead. Every now and then I go over and check things out, particularly because I have a book review group, and some faithful posters. I do like the site, and I find that there are some thoughtful people over there, too, who really write some interesting articles. As for earning points, people have told me that the best way to earn points quickly is to post videos (something I never do!), then pictures. Apparently, there are very little points given these days for commenting, and you will see a big drop in points there. Posting new original material is what will serve you best. I guess the good thing about Gather is that it is less formal, and there are so many nice people over there. That's why I can never truly give the site up. Also back a couple of years ago, I won the biggest prize ever from them ($500 in Borders cards when they had the writing contest for novelists), so they will always have my loyalty!

Hiya GardenGerty..I joined Gather a few years ago but only to earn a few cents on another website. I never did figure it out so just cancelled my account there. Be interesting to see what others say about it and maybe get some tips to earn there as well.

It would probably be a good idea to get a new free email and have the Gather mail sent there. For some reason my email company cut mass Gather emails off, I am not sure why. I get an email every once in a while, but I don't get burried in mass emails. Gather has really reduced the points over the last couple of months. It is harder to earn there, but still possible, there are almost no points for looking at other people's stuff anymore, but if you post a lot throughout the day you can still do OK there. I used to make like 100 points a day now I am only making like 50 points per day if I am lucky. But I love the community there. Where else are your writing? Are you on Bukisa, Ehow, Factoidz, or Associated Content?
