First beverage in the morning is fuel for the day-

I need to sit and sip my morning tea slowly. I will not get up from my seat before I complete this ritual. I would finish any small job I have before sitting with my tea because once I start drinking my tea I hate to get up before finishing the last drop .I call this my fuel for the day.
Do you think it is a strange habit? At this moment I am reminded of my mother who will keep gulping her coffee and while simultaneously running around getting on to her routine work in the kitchen. My mother-in-law would not even have tea or coffee and would take a glass of milk after some four to five hours of getting up. She even skips it.
As far as I am concerned, I will first sit and finish my tea .All work can wait. till then .
Can you manage without this fuel? Do you desperately need your morning coffee or tea first thing in the morning?

You are so right kala, lol, nothing is right if something happens and I am unable to have my early morning tea, like for example the milk gets spoilt and I have no other source in the fridge ( I have managed with lemon and honey too , but it is not the same).Tea with newspaper is my fuel for the day , is difficult to imagine what my day would be without the two...I too begin my day's work after my tea..It is the same with my entire family !

I have a nice big piece of ginger crushed and added to my tea Kiran. The taste of good tea would linger for more than an hour .Do you also try different combinations of tea? I try different combinations but the first tea is preferrably ginger tea.

oh yes Kiran! I try various combinations of tea-- mint leaves, coriander seeds , peeper, and orange peel; different God forsaken combinations I try but they turn out well. I love tea and medicinal tea too; but I do not much fancy the fancy stuff [if you see what I mean--with plenty of antioxidants or vanilla flavoured etc..,] and prefer the regular ginger tea with milk and sugar compared to all others .THe others will be alright for the evening but morning fuel is something I am particular about.Lemon an d honey is also a good combination .If there is no ginger at home I opt for cardomomom and if it is not there I go for dried ginger.

I too like my tea boiled with crushed ginger and cardamoms. It is great tasting...I also make mint tea with mint leaves ,lemon and honey added to the tea and no milk.Have you tried it kala? It is lovely...Now of course everybody has green tea with added herbs.I like that as well since it is lighter in taste and supposed to be healthier!

It is my fuel too. Not just fuel but something that brightens me up. I am never an over night guest at anybody's house where they do not have this ritual. There is just house that I like to go and that is my friend's house where her maid will see to it that I get my morning cuppa!

With Taj Mahal tea no flavouring must be added. The maximum that one can do is add elaichi if one is very keen.. GInger goes well with Society tea which is very popular in Mumbai. I too am a big fan of good tea and if you need a choice other than Taj then you can try Yellow Label or Double diamond. Yellow Label is quite decent ; but Double diamond is very strong. You can also mix three good varieties of tea in equal measure and try this.

We have always gone for the best brands and as long as it was available Lopchu Orange Pekoe was our choice - a leaf tea from Darjeeling. http://www.darjeelingteaxpress.com/darjeeling-tea-plantations/lopchu. I was shocked to see its price now! We have now settled for the Taj Brand. I don't like any other flavour added to the tea Nowadays we only get powder tea. I have tried green tea but I do not like its taste. I have uploaded an image but the shape of the pack has now changed.

I am so fund of tea, it is petrol for my body, as soon as i brush my teeth in the morning kalyani gives me my first cup of tea, it is made from pure milk, lot of sugars, strong with more leaf tea boiled in it and topped with a layer of cream, in her words, it is 'malai mar ke' tea!!!
But after i had this itching problem and other diabetes complicacies, she gives me 'Tulsi tea', made from Tulsi by Organic India, no milk..
but since i need sweet stuff, she adds 2 tablets of Sugar free gold, artificial sweetener..
Thanks for sharing
Have a nice day ahead.

I wish I could do it your way. I think it's important to have this bit of relaxing time before starting the day.
Mine is complete different, dragging out of bed, kids everywhere.. making them breakfast, get dressed, packing schoolbags, if I am lucky I can drink a beker of tea while combing hairs in between or telling to get the swimmingclothes or putting shoes on while grabbing my coat and keys.
There are times I don't have time to drink some tea, so I do it if I am back home. But mostly I have other things to do in between as well. So I seldom sit or just sit and drink something and do nothing.
I don't need morning coffee, but a hot tea is welcome esp. when it's freezing cold like now.

Wakeupkitty! Wake up just five minutes before your usual time; even otherwise [if you cannot wake up early ] just make up your mind that you are going to sip your hot tea for 5 minutes tomorrow. Mark my word! You will still finish all your other work in time. THe Heavens will not fall if you take 5 minutes to have your tea. I still do not approve of my mother gulping her coffee like that. 5 minutes would not have made such a difference; it all comes from the mind and her priorities were like that.

Without morning coffee I will end up with a headache. My first cup I will drink slowly. My husband often brings it up to the bedroom for me to have when I am waking up. I like to sit at a table, drink coffee and read my Bible or do something quiet for a few minutes to start the day.

Though the discussion was deleted I too enjoyed it. It was interesting to read the user names and when I come across your name I immediately recall THesids ' and your allusions. I think the feeling of enjoyment compensates for the demise of discussion .Have a nice day!

I do not drink coffee and only herbal tea and then only on occasion. I drink a lot of water throughout the day, but there is no ritual that I follow any morning. Sometimes I have a full breakfast and sometimes I rush out the door without eating anything. Usually, however, I take an frozen bottle of water around with me wherever I go and drink it as it melts.

Good morning kalav56. Here it is also a common practice, and some people I know MUST have coffee in the morning. I have tasted the Indian tea before (chai) and it is delicious, but I make mine with red tea which does not have caffeine or tannin, and I mix it with milk and honey and lots of chopped ice and have it later in the day.

I definitely like walking up, sitting down, and having a glass of milk, or something to that effect. It's a good way to start the day. However, my habits have changed recently, mainly as I now have my daughter to take care of. So, most mornings I don't have the time to really sit down and enjoy it, as she needs to be taken care of. But I've adjusted to this change, and my morning ritual has changed, which I'm really fine with.

I need no coffee or tea in the morning. I don't really drink this hot stuff at all. I am on the other hand a lover of fresh fruit juices so I always make it a point to juice fruits and keep them in my fridge so each morning I have fresh fruit juice instead of coffee and I really feel good with this.

My first beverage in the morning, usually is milk with the combination of biscuits or even buns. Only sometimes when i am eating fried mee or fried rice, then i will drink tea. I prefer to sit down and eat my breakfast until finish before i begin my routine works. If i don't eat or drink enough during my breakfast, i tends to feels moody and lazy to do my routine works. So, i think you are right that we should always have our cup of drink in the morning, before to begin our work. Happy posting...

Yours is avery healthy way to start the day.An early breakfast is normally advised but in our place this is not very much possible. We have tea or coffee first thing in the morning [biscuits are an indivdual preference though I don't allow anything else to mar my morning tea]. You have a good practice of milk and biscuits.

Well, my fuel for the day to help get me started is always Prayer. Being able to take time to think about what I need to Pray about, and then say a quick prayer or two thanking God for everything, and then praying for others is what helps get my day going. Then I come downstairs to my office and post a little on Facebook or here in myLot and then think about what other things I need to do as well. For me there is nothing better than Prayer.

The first thing when I wake up in the morning is make my cup of tea. Without my morning cuppa I just cannot function. I have tried to change my habit but just unable to do so. When my daughter visits and stays for the night she makes my tea first thing in the morning and then does any other work because she knows that makes me feel happy!!!!

Strange you should step in here- only yesterday I came across the name koparappu and thought of you[I don't remember why koparappu should remind me of you but I struggled to recall your user name and could remember that it was something to do with yugi or so but could not pinpoint exactly what it was. I was too impatient to go through the list of all my friends and gave it up but today I got my answer that it is yugasini.

I drink what ever it is I feel like drinking in the morning. I am not really one of those people who needs to have a coffee every morning to get going. I will have a milk or fruit juice if I feel like I can't be bothered to make a pot of coffee or something. I am not a tea person either. I just find it a little too leafy tasting lol if that makes sense.

I was really into coffee before, I had to drink coffee every morning after I wake up. I had to wake up very early morning so I needed the caffeine. But I stopped after several months of drinking it because I started to palpitate. So I just drink a glass of water every morning. It does not help me to be awake, but I guess it better to be healthy.
