Report or Ignore?

United States

Whenever I see a post that clearly violates the MyLot guidelines, I report it. For example, yesterday I seen a post that had nothing but gibberish. It was just a bunch of letters typed together, like this "jhsdlhdjshsd". Obviously, it was nothing of substance and certainly doesn't belong here on MyLot. So, I hit the report button! I think it's important to use the report feature to keep the MyLot community clean and as it is intended to be. The administrators can't keep up with every single post here, so we should be doing our part by alerting them when we find something against the guidelines so they can check it out. MyLot's Earning FAQ says: "I see someone I think is cheating the system... What should I do?" "Report the user by hovering over what they wrote, and a moderator will investigate it. We definitely need your help! The less money we pay out to scammers, the more money we have to pay out to everyone else." What do you do when you see a post that is violating the MyLot guidelines? Do you report or ignore?

Do I report or ignore? I will report to help out. I will ignore trying to figure out what is right for the site or not, what is up to a standard or not and just let admin make that determination. "jhsdlhdjshsd" sounds like gibberish to me. In 4000 BC there could have been this guy called Jhsdih who did something. When he did, he said, I did just did it. He djusted it. Unless that was the meaning, I guess it was gibberish.

@Bluedoll @Novelangel To me it seems they are just posting to try and earn money, but that's not how it works. You must write good quality posts with substance, that is what MyLot gives us the earnings for.

Report!!! I report it as soon as I see it. I also don't respond to it so I don't get any cents deducted.

I hadn't heard about that part, getting money deducted from your own acct. I will be careful about that as well. Thank you.

I have never reported any users yet, but if I would see what saw, I would certainly take action. I have seen those before mylot changed, and I would ignore them, and not respond as there wasn't anything to respond to. I don't recall ever reporting anyone before mylot changed, and I haven't since Ihave been back.

@gudheart I hope I never have to report anyone either, as that isn't something I want to be forced to do, but if necessary, I will use it.

MyLot has always been pretty good about keeping the spammers at bay. I think the report button has helped with that though. So we should definitely use it!

Well, now that I am thinking I didn't read the mylot guidelines, so I don't know if I pushed of the limits, but without reading It I have sense for what is the site's proposal, and I wouldn't want people to do if it was mine. Hope I didn't screwed any of my discussions, and for so I ask, let me know if I violate any rule!

Oh my, you should really go over the guidelines! They are important.
This is where you will find out what kinds of behavior are accepted and unaccepted on myLot. When in doubt, remember the Golden Rule!

@Angelee_27 The good thing about the guidelines is that they are not that long too :D

Even if I just think it might be a violation, I report it and the admin can decide. It is the way we keep the site working well for all of us.

@Angelee_27 I came back the end of Julie. Just happened to be here and heard they were going to start paying again. Had been a member for five years about two years ago and then left cause they quit paying. After you are paid for something and then it quits it's difficult to stay.

I like to follow the rules and will report violators too. I used to belong to a writing site where there were many violators. It dragged the site down.

I don't think that will ever become myLot. They are very good with keeping the violators out.

Yep, it's in the guidelines. We must type in the English language. They don't care so much about perfect spelling and grammar though because not everyone has perfect English.

@crazyhorseladycx Yes, spammers can certainly ruin a website quickly. I am glad that myLot has always kept the spammers at bay. It's never gotten super bad, that I can rememeber.

Oh, those kind of things happens here too? I have not yet encountered one yet. But I am sure I will report one when I read one. I think everyone here deserve to be heard. This site provides as a place to write and express what we want which other people will understand it. It would be a waste of time opening a post like that.

Yes, but from what I have seen it's rare. Most of the members here behave, and those who refuse are quickly removed from the site by MyLot.

Some people are only here for how much money they think they can make, or are doing it for a joke or something. The thing of it is, you can make a little money by posting something legit, you don't have to type gibberish hoping someone will comment on it. Of course I would report it. That stuff just clutters up the page and needs cleaning up. Edited to add that I just read the rules and it says we aren't to use computer speak...does that mean that you can't use things like "LOL" for example? (Laugh out loud for those who don't know.)

It's really easy to report and that way we can keep the spam out of here. I do however think that we should be more focused on our content. And let the moderator do the job. Because we don't want to start some sort chase the spammer drive lol. But i agree reporting does help.

This is what it says about reporting in the earnings FAQ: "I see someone I think is cheating the system... What should I do?" Not only do they want you to report it, but it saves the members too because it isn't right for someone to earn our money by breaking the rules

@Angelee_27 sometimes i think people put more effort in trying not to work than just getting something done!
