Our Lovely town decided to help many here who lost things and had land damaged. So this morning we get to stand in line for free trees to give back for all that were up rooted, or damaged. I'm hoping there will be a pomegranate one left for me.. All we need is to prove we pay our utilities with a bill and our license to prove it is us. So off I go..look at me go.. Who wants me to get them one? this is the list 1-5 gallon - Mexican White Oak Rusty Blackhawk Mexican Plum or 2-1 gallon TX redbud Rough leaf dogwood Pomegranate Aleppo Pine TX mulberry

That is a wonderful idea. You should have mentioned what happened in your area as not all members follow all your posts.

I am allergic to mulberry, I like the berries, but in Spring the flowers give me terrible allergies. I love the pomegranate.

@Rosekitty It is a problem if you consider that on all the sides of the roads of our villages there are mulberries.

That's great! My backyard is only 15'x15' and I was told upon moving in that I'd better not plant any trees. LOL

@Rosekitty My landlord HATES trees. He thinks they're dangerous. Love him dearly, but he's vehemently opposed to trees. I'm just a country girl. I love trees. I just don't like ticks.

@jerzgirl it might be dangerous if the roots affected plumbing and structures of the building, but other than that very strange to hear weird..hahah

@jerzgirl what a shame..but maybe you can just keep a tree in a pot..i have many still in pots that give me fruit..you wouldn't be going against the rules

I got 4 free trees one year where i live, It was great, When we moved in i had no trees or anything in my back yard. Now i have a oak tree back there and it has grown so much and am so thankfull for that. I can't wait for it to get big and i can enjoy it and get the acorns off of it. I have a magnolia tree but that didnt seem to make it. I planted to Orange Geigers on the side of my house and at first they didnt seem like they were going to make it, but they proved me wrong and are really nice now and i like that i will have them as well. I hope some of my trees in the front of the house will grow more before next Christmas because then i have more i can but lights on. I have planted a prickly palm thing not sure of the name on one side of my driveway to block a fence that i dont realy like that much and all the stuff behind the fence. So i hope that grows a little bigger.

@AbbyGreenhill I will use them in the winter to decorate vases with fake flowers put then in candle holders and in some poporui things around the house to add to the fall decorations around the house. Will make it much more homey i think.

This is quite a wonderful thing to have from the community and authorities in the town This can surely be one of the good ways to make the damage caused by us and the mother nature herself. I would select from Pomegranate and also if it can be mango (wife and mom love these) and custard apple. Unsure if they will grow at your climate.

We are discouraged from planting trees where I live. They spoil the view of the sea, which ticks people off big time!

@Rosekitty True, but they have a point. One reason these houses are so expensive, is that they have a view of the sea. Blocking the view is just not nice.
