~I Just Realized I Am A Prude & A Conservative!~

It is true. Not that I am ashamed of it...I just never really thought about it until today. This came to my mind from my movie discussion I posted. I don't really like most movies. Why? Because they are usually full of sexual things and cursing-neither of which I find entertaining in the slightest. It's hard for me to find a movie I DO like honestly. I am a Christian woman who is a mom, and I just don't like inappropriate things. I wish there were more movies for people like me out there. But there isn't. I will have to stick to movies rated G, anything past that and I am blushing.

I don't think you would be considered a prude.

In the end you are the one who has to live with yourself. If you put stuff into your mind that makes you uncomfortable or makes you think bad thoughts, you have to live with that as well. best to only watch and listen to uplifting things as you will be much happier and your kids will be better off as well.

@GardenGerty Yeah, I definitely only want to put things into my mind that acceptable and moral.

@LovingMyBabies I don't think you are a prude I think you just love your babies. You don't want them exposed to things that are inappropriate for them.

They put way too much violence and sexuality in almost all TV shows as well as movies, even the ones rated G can be overly suggestive.

There's noting at all wrong with being a "prude". I've been one most of my adult life. I'm 55 now and have so very much change in the world. I could never go over to the dark side. We Christians are supposed to be different from everyone else in the world. We're supposed to be set apart. We are here to please The Lord, not other people. God bless you!

@PrarieStyle Yeah the world has definitely become crazy, full of things I don't want to watch that's for sure. Yes we are supposed to be different and be proud of being different for the Lord. =)

I have a hard time with all the overt sexuality and the horrible language as well. I very seldom watch anything but Hallmark Movies.

@BelleStarr Yeah Hallmark is the only safe channel to watch movies on I think.

You sound like a sensible person to me with good values and the kind of mom who wants her children to grown up with morals and values too.

@Marilynda1225 Well thank you! I do have morals and values and I hope to instill those on my children.

These days films seem to give a lot of pre-warning about anything you might want to avoid.

@boiboing Yeah the previews usually say a lot about what the movie is about. And thank God for that because I avoid most of them!

When my kids were younger we just stuck to cartoons. We did watch all of the Harry Potter movies.
