Are You Richer Than Yesterday

Are you richer than yesterday? I just read that there are 3 winning tickets in the U.S. I just hope that they were all groups and not just one individual on them. Lots of Canadians drove to the U.S. to buy tickets. I wasn't one of them. But you know what? I am still richer than yesterday as my investments went up during the week. I never buy a lottery ticket when there is a huge amount to be won, I do not want the responsibility of managing all that money. I leave that pleasure to somebody else. How do you feel about winning huge amounts of money?

Healthy, happy, debt free, along with money in the bank and investments, make me wealthy. I don't like the word, rich.

I don't do the lottery ever, so there's no chance of me getting all that money. A man and wife just won £33 million on the UK lottery this week. It seems far too much - it would be better if 11 people each won £3 million in my opinion.

@jabouk I always like to see a few or more people win rather than just one person

If your investment goes up, and you have not sold to lock in the profit, you are not richer than yesterday. Paper profit is not real profit, and paper loss is not real loss. It is the money that comes into your pocket that is the real thing.

I know how to handle large amounts of money and would have no problem with it. LOL!

Do you mean that you have handled millions of dollars from your personal account already?

@AbbyGreenhill I know how to handle my money very well, but not to the extent of being multi millionaire (yet)

@marlina Only Uncle Sam knows for sure! I have had a financial advisor for many years and I had a father who had a Ph.D and Masters in Economics so some of his knowledge seeped thru to me I think.

Since we are here we bought Ten dollars worth but went to bed early last night and will check out the numbers when the family wakes up. I wouldn't mind winning, I could find ways to use the money.

You could really spend all that money?

@PainsOnSlate I would hire a consultant to gather data to indicate what kind of a hospital would benefit our area-women's health, childrens, cancer, heart etc and then have the hospital built and staffed on the winnings. The only stipulation would be that I wouldn't want to be associated with it at all, only to benefit the community at large now and into the future.

@marlina I would be giving away most of it, family, friends, charity, hospitals, schools. It would be easy to get rid of...with more than I will need in my lifetime.

I made a promise to God to never gamble again as it was ruining my life and do not gamble in any way. It is a promise that I must keep!

i only learned earlier today that there are 6 states in the us that did not have powerball so people went to the nearest states that had it to be able to bet on it. i didn't expect that even people from canada did the same thing, but i guess it's understandable since a billion is at stake.

Haha, unfortunately no. My parents bought a ticket, but we didn't win :( We're probably poorer today than we were yesterday because we bought all those lottery tickets and got nothing back!

I have a saying that our first million should have my hubby's blood sweat and tears on it. We've known a number of people who have won millions in the lottery and it really changes people, and not necessarily for the good. It really alienates them from others in general and mostly from people their own age because they have no debt, no commitments and usually no jobs. No, we are not rich but we have enough and are happy, and our investments are doing well too!

I never bought lottery tickets. I am not sure that I would like to win so much money, you immediately find that you have plenty of friends and unknown family. I would like to win a smaller monthly amount, just to add up to our pension.

I seldom buy lotto tickets, But if given the chance, I will seek the right persons.charities where I can share some of it. Of course my relatives will be on the list too, though it should be done secretly for safety measures.

I am happy for those who won the lottery. One in Chino California was a group I beleive. Then ones in Florida and Tennessee and not sure if they were groups or not.

No way, I wish! I paid rent today so I am almost a thousand poorer. I hate that feeling - work for two weeks to have it gone immediately! Oh well. I haven't checked my Powerball but I heard (on MyLot) that someone in Tennessee is a billionaire this morning....Lucky ducks!

I won $4...lol I usually do not play lotto, but I jumped on the bandwagon like most, I spent $2 to win $4. If I won a huge amount, I could do a lot with it, I am sure, I have heard many say oh they would help a charity , or food pantry, feed homeless. Well you can do some of this now, I only say it because we have a lot of homeless here. I take canned goods to the pantry , and when we have extra, left overs, from dinner, we walk down the street and deliver it to who is hungry. I would take care of my family first with any winnings, I honestly would have to think long and hard what I would do with the money, as I wouldn't know until it was in my hand. I would also not have my name or face in the paper, I wouldn't want everyone asking for money.

I didn't even buy a ticket for that big 1.5 billion dollar lottery. Figure if any of my kids won they'd share the wealth
