~A Sign From God?~

So...the more we think about the house and find things out about the house the more we are not sure about it. We called the electric company yesterday to see how much it would be to get lights on there. The lady told us $70-not bad. Then she tells us just to let you know there's a water leak there. Huh? She said yeah the last people went through 14,000 gallons of water in a month!! That's insane! Then she says oh and the AC unit needs fixing because the electric was high too. They were paying $660 a month in electric. Let me tell you this is a TINY home, 935 square feet! There's no way bills should be that much there. Bills weren't that high in my 1300 sq. Foot home we used to have! We have another house that's much bigger and only $25 more per month. It will be ready next week and we are praying about what God wants us to do. My husband did move stuff in already and signed the lease-but we cannot afford those high bills and we tthink after we talk to the landlord she will give us our money back. Please keep praying that God shows us what to do!

There is usually a reason for places to be cheaper. I hope you can get your money back. That's a shame. I was so excited for you.

@celticeagle It was only $25 cheaper per month-not enough to cover $660 electric bill! Lol. Yeah I am a little disappointed too but we could not afford that every month so I am glad we found out now before moving in completely.

There is something wrong with this house, no one can waste so much water. Also the electric bill is to high for such a small house. She had to inform you BEFORE you signed. You have the right to resign.

@LadyDuck Yeah there has to be some kind of leak somewhere because that is a LOT of water! The landlord didn't tell us anything about it at all, the electric company told us.

@LadyDuck I'm glad the lady told us too! Otherwise we would have been in a world of trouble once we moved into that house.

@LovingMyBabies I am glad that the electric company told you. The landlord was not honest, you can break the contract.

That's crazy. They should told beforehand about the problems.

@JESSY3236 Yeah, the landlord never mentioned a word about issues there. I don't know if she didn't know or just wanted the money so she didn't care. Either way, I am glad we found out before we moved completely in.

Contact a lawyer experienced in landlord/tenant disputes and the local laws. Find out what advice they'd give you, and if you can legally break the lease at this point. There should be a Legal Aid department that can help you if you're eligible based on your income level. Then you need to sit your husband down and sweetly ask him, "Honey, why is it okay for us to take money that could be used to care for our kids and their new sibling and flush it down the drain? Why do you want to throw money away on extortionate utility bills when we could be using that to buy diapers and wipes or putting it away for the kids' futures? There seem to be very big issues with this property that the landlord didn't disclose to us beforehand. " You could also remind him that stress isn't good for either you or your developing squish at this point, and knowing that you're probably going to have extremely high bills like that will put a lot of unnecessary stress on you. Honestly, this [expletive redacted] is the last thing you need to be dealing with this close to delivery.

@yukimori You have given amazing advice here and I appreciate it so much. My husband is finally on board with the other house. We are moving in next week! =) I am very happy about that. We are hoping the other landlord will give our deposit back but we will find that out soon.

@yukimori Yes I felt like it would have been more problems than we needed to deal with also and your right that is not something I want after having a baby.

@LovingMyBabies I'm so glad to hear that, and I hope that the landlord will be willing to give your deposit back. That place sounded like a huge mess of problems... I sure wouldn't like to be dealing with that sort of thing just after giving birth!

Well, God would probably give you wisdom on this one, i just don't know what it is. I do hope he will help you soon find a new home that doesn't have malfunctioned utilities and lying, cheating landlord!

I believe the only 'houses' that god has provided for us are caves and hollow trees. Anything else is man-made and that's the problem. We have become too materialistic and should have never have left the caves.

Did you check it out for yourself. I believe you shouldn't just take anyone's word for it. People are known to spread rumors and tell lies for their own benefit.

@Daljinder The electric company has nothing to do with anything-nothing to gain from lying.
