Melting Into Lace

A year ago or so, we had an unseasonably warm winter day. We decided to go for a walk in the State Park in our area. The park runs along the river, and in the state park there is a creek that runs into the river. From high above the creek on the bridge we cold see that the ice was melting and we could safely walk along the creek to the river. The creek was very cold and crystal clear. The ice was melting and we were happy about that.
I took this shot of the edge of the ice as it hung out over the creek. Looked like really pretty lace to me.

You are right, tiger! It does look like lace to me, too!
LOL! I'm sure the water was cold! Maybe icy cold? (giggling!) Yes, you already know I'm an idiot!

@DaddyEvil I don't think you are an idiot and @fishtiger58 isn't old.
Did you say stuffing? Does that mean you are already stuffed or shall I stuff you? Let me get my glue.

@fishtiger58 I think you said it right, tiger! If not, I am positive @mommaj will tease the ever-loving stuffing out of us over it!

It warms my heart to read about you visiting and using your state park! I am a huge advocate of parks, and think we as Americans need to reconnect more with our natural world. It has been proven over and over through research that our connection to the natural world makes us healthier and less stressed! Glad to hear you had an enjoyable visit!

@fishtiger58 I'm an avid outdoorsman as well! Maybe I should try to visit all of Florida's state parks! That would be fun, although it would take me a while since there are hundreds of them! Ahh...maybe I should add it on to my bucket list for when I retire!

@moffittjc I have never counted the state parks in Illinois but I have been to a lot of them. As well I believe we have been to about 60 lakes in Illinois as well. Who knew Illinois had that many and I haven't been to them all either.

It does look like lace. But I don't think I would want to wear that kind of lace. Too cold.

It really does. Usually ice melts like this on smaller creeks. I have never see it melt like this on a lake or big river.

When I was growing up we had a country lifestyle. Our neighborhood brook would get frozen when the winters got cold and it was always pretty to see how lacey the ice looked. You got a very pretty picture

Thanks so much. I think the slow moving little creeks tend to have ice melting to look like this. I have never seen this on a melting lake or river.
