It happened - I witnessed a miracle!

Miracles don't happen very often, or maybe never for some of you, but I witnessed one yesterday and I'm gelling the world about it.
As you may know over the last few weeks I have been trying to get a painter to come here. I had many phone calls go unanswered, I did online research, I had disappointments. But yesterday, the third painter showed up and only 5 minutes late! That's a miracle if you ask me.
He checked out the work and gave us a price and we jumped on it. He will be paining one room (two coats), another room he will remove a decal and paint one wall, and fixing/paint one wall in the garage.
Then I asked about something else...our home is traditional brick outside, but inside 2/3's of it is done like a log home. The problem is they used cheap wood for the baseboards. By cheap I mean the top of the baseboard is very rough and dust and dog hairs sticks to it.
The painter is going to lightly sand all the baseboard in the house (and there is a lot of it) and apply a sealer so that the wood will be smooth! That alone is worth the price of admission! It will make it so much nicer to clean!
He has some outdoor painting jobs he has to do since the weather is nice, but he will be in touch next week regarding when he will start our two-day job.
See, miracles do happen!

I need a painter to pain the interior of my house, but I can't afford it. I am afraid if I did it my house it wouldn't look that good, and I am trying to sell so I need a great job. I mean I don't think the interior looks that bad, but parts of it really do need painted. I might just try to paint the areas I know really need painted. That might be a compromise.

We are messy painters, we tried at our last home and had to hire people to paint the whole house. Messy paint job is worse looking than a room that needs paint.

I would never paint over wood. Varnish maybe but not paint.

This guy has 'glowing comments' on his Home Advisor page so I was hoping they weren't all lies.

Yes he is, there will be two or more working. Not sand the floors - just the baseboard, the top of the baseboards.

I would withhold my accolades until the painter has finished the work. Years ago we hired someone to hang a door for us, door frame and all, and he quit the job without finishing, never billed us, told us he'd gotten a bigger job, and we never saw him again. Luckily we were able to finish the work ourselves.

@AbbyGreenhill We had just moved to town when that happened and the guy was recommended by our Realtor. We never asked him for any more recommendations.

@DWDavis Every time we ask someone for a recommendation - it's a flop. This time I used Home Advisor.

That is more common than we probably know. He'll be back, I know where he lives toooooooo Getting one here is an accomplishment.

@AbbyGreenhill Let him clean, this job will keep him busy. They are dangerous when they have nothing to do.

It will be so much better once the 'fix' is in place. He told us not to bother cleaning the baseboard but my husband is going to clean it today.
